How’s MSFS 2020?

Featured Replies

Well, the last two days, my FPS in 2020, with nothing else changed has dropped down noticeably. I tried three different aircraft, and I see this in all three, the PMDG 737, Fenix A 320 and the PMDG 777. I think their "fixing" of  the servers for 2024, they have taken something from the 2020 servers.

Actually, it’s never worked better than it does now! There’s been a huge improvement in the Greater London photogrammetry. Not a single melted building or structure in sight - love it!

I've used MSFS 2020 every night for the last 2 weeks, which is obviously before and after the launch of 2024, and I haven't noticed any differences.

  • I have been on 2020 almost daily since 24 was released without a single issue. Everytime you post they are messing with the servers a number of people tell you they aren't seeing the same thing.

Same here, no troubles with 2020 performance it's the same as it was pre 2024.

For me performance is even better, because I doubled my RAM, now at 64GB. In some cases the sim eats over 40GB. I'm also in Europe.

I have found that the performance of 2020 has very much improved. I used to get stutters approaching EGLL and EDDB. Now my flights are very smooth. I have increased my LOD to maximum and almost all my settings are at ultra.

Basically my system is: I9, RTX4070 super, 32gb memory.

My location is England.

Confirmed. I have been experiencing no stutters and no funny things during loading the sim or airports. There have been many reports about this "sudden improvement" in some forums and social media, although it could be placebo, euphoria, or selective bias.

I had a small update and now in the world map the frames drop as you zoom in, which never happened before ever....

Yes I had it too, it was less than 100 mb. And when I started the sim, MSFS.exe is suddenly disappeared and Steam needed to "download file". Now flying over KMIA, no issue so far

I also noticed blurry ground scenery textures while flying in FL. Menu was also sluggish maybe due to black Friday sale. I changed the server from SE USA to West Coast and saw much sharper textures. So the servers could be going through an overhaul. Just my thoughts.

Let me know if changing the server helps.

I took advantage of the Black Friday Sales last night, and purchased four MSFS 2020 airports from Contrail at a total price of £33.37

No issues on this end. Did KEWR-KMIA last night after Turkey Day with zero issues.  Actually feels smoother, perhaps because some users have moved to 24 and the load is down.

You keep repeating the claims and assertions they are messing with 2020 for 2024 with no foundation and when everyone else keeps saying they don't see the same...  Zero issues with 2020 since introduction of 2024

Look,  I had a major drop in FPS right after 2024 was released. By switching the server from US East to Europe ( North I think), my FPS went immediately back to normal. So something happened to the servers right after 2024 was dropped, and that was the same time that Asobo said they were working on server issues. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see there was some sort of connection. Someone stating that they flew somewhere yesterday and everything was fine  proves absolutely   nothing.

Changing your server setting once also proves absolutely nothing and doesn't result in the conclusion they are messing with the 2020 servers or stealing resources from 2020 for 2024.

Just stop with the baseless accusations is all I am saying.  It is one thing to say you encountered a server issue, it is another entirely to keep claiming they are messing with 2020 for 2024.
