Verdicts on weather, clouds, etc in MSFS 2024?

Could be other forms of turbulence happening while you are in a cloud. I‘m pretty sure there‘s no cloud turbulence in 2024

Wasn't 'turbulence' in general to be improved in 2024?  At least that was my sense and kind of assumed it included cloud-related turbulence.

  • The turbulence feels like it could do with a bit more tuning. Too strong over hills sometimes and yeah, too faint in clouds and wakes. Same as a lot of things, good direction, needs work. Overall

  • Yea, as with Alpine Scenery, I don't see that. Ground textures are on the whole better and 2024 actually has a terrain surface, with rocks and ditches, unlike the flat ground in 2020. I really could n

Clouds and atmosphere is the best out of all sims. First sim which can accurately represent cloudy/overcast sunset which is dark blue and gloomy. Any other sim made it look like I was on mars. Red, pi

Yes IIRC they did mention cloud turbulence specifically, but then again they've also showed passengers in the promo videos and those are also not there.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

The passengers are there in MSFS 2024:

Ah that's why I never see them: None of the airliners (not even the ini default ones) use the default w&b menu

Hope my eyes aren’t deceiving me, but I’m pretty sure that the sim is organically producing god rays😍

Anyone else seeing them?

Yep, those are god rays, in live weather🤩

Looking at your profile-picture I think I may have discovered where the issue with your eyes are 😉

I’m gonna write a very witty reply, as soon as I sober up.

The weather can be overly dramatic looking IMO.

I'll see crazy like night dark storm clouds with major downpour looking trails to the ground in front of me yet 90 degrees another way there will be sunlight god rays with open clouds. Turn 90 degrees more and its just solid grey sky.

I guess its pretty and possible but I see this way too often in game.

Is it just me or does 2024 seem to do a much better job of representing what the METAR says?

I'm getting gradients as I transition in and out of clouds .. especially light whispy clouds .. very unnatural, but the clouds look good as long as you dont fly through them. The transitions in 2020 have no gradients .. smooth and natural. I'm on 2024 SU1 Beta as of March 2, 2025 and running an i13900k/3090 machine at 4k.

Clouds in the distance are very poor quality in MSFS 2024.

They are just semi translucent, low resolution blobs.

It's really disappointing compared to 2020 where the clouds maintained the quality all the way to the horizon.

I don't see how you can say ALL clouds in ALL scenarios.  In rare cases maybe, but generally I find the clouds in 2024 to be a great step forward over 2020 (which are not poor either).

I didn't.

I said the clouds in the distance, which none of your photos show.

You notice it when there is an unobstructed view to clouds on the horizon, as shown in these photos.
