Question for AI Traffic Users

Where do they get their data from then? And also how is the data in parts of the world that tracking is limited such as China?

Somewhere better than FR24. It's closer to ads-b exchange. Limited tracking regions are an issue, you are at the whim of coverage.
I've tried BATC, and the traffic looks good and all, but it's not real time or live. I don't know how old it is or if it's even historic at all for that mater.

So what I am really missing is the supertrafficboard program which controlled everything on its own from gate to gate. Can Fshud do this? I don't fly at all so I would just like to make a flight plan and watch it do everything. I can't find a price unless I create an account which is weird. I would give it a shot before uninstaling MSFS 2020 so hopefully it will work. I do have BATC but it's a little too involved for me and it doesn't do what I want.

Unfortunately, I don't think anything mentioned is able to do that. Every single ATC program and traffic injector will cull the traffic when it's far enough away from you, for performance reasons. You won't be able to follow a specific AI plane gate-to-gate, full flight because it'll just disappear eventually (unless you get in a plane and follow it). Plus, unlike how the camera system worked on the ESP-platform, you can't focus on an AI plane in the same manner, to my knowledge. You can drone / free cam around, looking at the traffic.

Best you can get is sitting at an airport, listening to the ATC flow and watch the traffic respond, either follow real traffic boards if you use live injectors or FSHud has its own board with the status of every plane, take-off time, where they are going etc. like this;

It can. You don't need to interact with it at all, like @Sethos mentioned. After you start the FSHud app, it will start injecting (and control) AI traffic - and you can just let it run in the background. If you'd like, you could even tune to a relevant frequency (ground, tower, center etc) for some background ATC chatter.

EDIT: I posted before reading @Sethos reply above which is more in-depth.

Personally I'd recommend FSHud in that case. Uses AIG, which has a lot more liveries and planes and its default voices are a lot more believable than BATC's basic voices which you'd surely use for traffic unless you want to burn through money. The basic voices are awful.

Also has a great 'traffic board' overview of what time traffic arrives, departs etc.

Basic voices in BATC are fine, FShud voices  sound like Robby the robot.

I do agree that the voices sounded a bit robotic a while back, but I think they have improved significantly over the last few months. A lot of regional accents have been added. I wonder if Bob based his opinion on how FSHud voices sounded before vs how they are now.

Yes, I am biased towards FSHud as I think it's the best ATC addon. I've tried all of them, but I've used FSHud the most.

Hi, Cpt Piett, I fly almost always with historical weather using active sky and with default ATC (MSFS 2020), but I'm willing to try one the the two more popular and modern ATC add-ons (BATC or FSHud). I also use AIG for ai traffic.  BATC, as far as i am concern, uses its own ai injection, does FSHud has it's own injector or I should use AIG traffic controller?

FSHud can inject AIG traffic without the need for AIG traffic controller.

Oh great news, last one, does it inject live traffic or historical also? Do you happen to know what source does it use? Thanks very much for the info.

As far as I know, it cannot control MSFS2024 live traffic - @FSHud please correct me if I'm wrong. It can however use live FSLTL traffic. In that case, the FSLTL injector needs to be used, and the traffic source needs to be set to "simulator traffic" in the FSHud panel (no other options should be enabled).

Again, as far as I know, AIG uses offline flight plans, which I prefer as I rarely have the sim time set to real time.

You are right.  They sound worst than Robby.  If sort of real voices you want, FSHud will disappoint.  IMO

Sorry I completely disagree. I find the default 'radio effect' applied to the voices very bad, but if this is turned down (easily done with sliders) the voices themselves are very good. It's still a matter of opinion of course, but that's true of many things in the flightsim world.

Thanks a lot Piett, I'll take the plunge.
