December 20, 20241 yr I will try to make this short. I enjoyed playing P3D for years but I moved on to MSFS. In P3D I enjoyed watching planes at airports and I especially enjoyed watching a plane fly from gate to gate using Supertrafficboard and watching arrivals and departures using the camera app. When I moved to MSFS I thought I would have the same experience and maybe even better. That has not happened and I haven't used it in over a year hoping things would get better. So then MSFS 2024 has come along and so far it's the same problem and now I don't think MSFS will improve because everyone has moved on to the new game. So now here is the question and dilemma, should I go back to P3D where everything was working fine but maybe a little outdated graphics, should I keep MSFS hoping for a change/update or should I buy MSFS 2024 and hope that things are added as time goes on. I know its a game for flying planes realistically but this is how I choose to enjoy my game so I don't need any haters saying why did I buy a flying simulator just to watch planes moving and flying on their own. thanks all.
December 20, 20241 yr I spend way too much time watching AI in MSFS 2020 considering I watch airplanes all day in my job. I use PSXT in combination with a massive collection of AI aircraft from AIG as well as custom added aircraft (PSXT shows just over 13,000 liveries). PSXT gives me pretty much real time live traffic including proper runway use and separation (no overtakes on final or overshoots unless they actually overshot) and doesn't need coded ADE's or afcads. Yes, it's a payware subscription for the data but I am constantly amazed at what aircraft I see in the logs, stuff that is blocked on FR24 and Flightaware. I would honestly say stick to 2020 for now and try PSXT for a month. You do need your own collection of Aircraft and liveries so if you don't have any AIG installed then use FSLTL (it has about 20% of the liveries and fewer models that AIG offers but is easier and faster to install). Another plus about PSXT is that it only loads traffic in a small radius around your location so it's not injecting and killing your sim's performance by having to manage traffic within an 80+nm radius of your location. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

Default AI traffic will likely never be any good in MSFS, it's not their priority (not at all). But the visuals are gorgeous. So if you don't mind paying 30 dollars for plane watching I can recommend Beyond ATC, which injects its own traffic and has much more realistic procedures and movement. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Personally I'd recommend FSHud in that case. Uses AIG, which has a lot more liveries and planes and its default voices are a lot more believable than BATC's basic voices which you'd surely use for traffic unless you want to burn through money. The basic voices are awful. Also has a great 'traffic board' overview of what time traffic arrives, departs etc. Edited December 20, 20241 yr by Sethos [MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]
December 20, 20241 yr I recommend RealTraffic and PSXT. It is the best out there in my opinion! I use the FSTL base for the AI planes. You get real time, real traffic like it is on Flightradar24. Very mature products. Realtraffic is subscription, but very reasonable. There are some strange behaviors sometimes, but that is due to the data being provided or the unfinished, lazy programming of MSFS in regards to AI planes.....

As everything, it all comes down to personal preference.

Though I still vastly prefer FSHud's voices and overall HUD but I'm sure BATC will make a lot of improvements, it's coming along fast. And no need to file a flight to begin, it'll inject traffic and you can listen in without doing any of that. Plus the UI is fast, injection is smooth and you can even have the entire interface running in a browser or on a completely different device, with a full traffic board of arrivals and departures. I absolutely love how fast and intuitive it is. I feel like a lot of people are missing out on something great because BATC has just become the default go-to. MSFS 2020 is a mature sim. There are certain add-ons that are a must have! Essential add-ons. I've never posted the list because there are YT videos that talk about these essential add-ons. This is my Christmas gift to you. Let me repeat, these are the most essential add-ons for MSFS 2020. Add-on Linker (Free) No Handle Bar (Free) FS Realistic (Not Free) AutoFPS (Free) Simbrief (Free) MSFS 2024 Flight Planner (Not Free) If you have 2020, you can access he planner. ActiveSky (Not Free) Airplanes (Too many to honor one.) Let me know what type of airplane do you love to fly? Airports (Too many to mention.) AI Traffic: FSLTL & Injector (Free) ATC: BATC (Not Free) BATC will blow your mind if you love flying IFR. As Bob mentioned it also controls your FSLTL traffic. Ground Services: GSX Pro (Not Free) Scenery Enhancements include free world updates, payware REX Accuseasons, and boats by GAIST (Free) Do yourself a favor. If MSFS 2020 runs well on your computer, do your research on the above add-ons. Aside from your choice of airplane or airports you like o fly to, the above are a must look into. They are truly "sim changers." You will never go back to P3D, once you have experienced a properly loaded MSFS 2020. Edited December 20, 20241 yr by CFIJose MSFS

So what I am really missing is the supertrafficboard program which controlled everything on its own from gate to gate. Can Fshud do this? I don't fly at all so I would just like to make a flight plan and watch it do everything. I can't find a price unless I create an account which is weird. I would give it a shot before uninstaling MSFS 2020 so hopefully it will work. I do have BATC but it's a little too involved for me and it doesn't do what I want.

Where do they get their data from then? And also how is the data in parts of the world that tracking is limited such as China? As for the OP, I doubt AI traffic will ever be as good as P3D is MSFS. I would recommend AIG and the use of BATC using live traffic, or just fly using offline traffic (AIG flight plan data like P3D) like I do. Daniel
