Open Mind - MSFS 2024

The central question I have for those who swear by 2024, why the performance difference when I am flying over two identical photogrammetry cities?

Better yet, what does 2024 offers that 2020 does not except 2024 tanks your PC performance.  To cheer 2024 over 2020 is to defy logic.

I haven't flown over Washington in either sim but here's central London in 2024.

In 2020 London is notoriously 'melty'. 2024 seems a big improvement to me and my performance in 2024 on my PC is superior to 2020.

I have both 2020 and 2024 available to fly. After a great deal of initial frustration with 2024 - and there's a great deal to be frustrated with - I haven't really had an urge to fly 2020.

@Huascar: Your Sim should run good.
I have an older I7 with 34GB RAM and a 3080TI, on win10 ; the sim running smooth with the DynamicLOD_ResetEdition.exe,
my setting is Profile number 5. (from AGL 0 its TLOD100, up to AGL3000 Ft. TLOD400); OLOD at 0 is 200, up to 3000ft i get OLOD50.
My sim is runng smooth with the JustflightRJPRO and some compatible airports from 2020-Sim, like Flytampa Vienna or MK Rome;
also with FSTL-Aircrafts with BeyondATC generated flights.

Please do NOT ask me how many Frames i run my sim: I DID NOT KNEW this, i want not knew this.
For me is smooth. if 50 or 144 fps, it is not relevant for me, it is smooth, no stutters.
more friends here should not look at their frames/sek. when you see its good, then be happy. if you see only 50 fps, but the others have 100fps, you could feel bad!

sorry maybe bad eglish.

FS2024 as it stands right now can be labeled as flawed, however, once Asobo squashes all the bugs and irons out all the kinks, it has the potential to be the best flight simulator ever created, there is no doubt about that but we must be patient and wait a couple of years, maybe more.

We can't say we didn't warn you.

I was warned about it but opted to purchase it out curiosity (I had to see it). Getting a refund should be straightforward.

some people refuse to see and accept a deeply flawed product.

Maybe because we see and experience something different?  My experience of 2024 is very different to yours.

2020 was far from perfect on release and took time to get to where it is today.  Yes there are more bugs than we would like - but it will 100% get there.

I think a 3080 will struggle.  My 3080ti is just about able to hold 35-40fps with all settings on high.

I'm running 2024 on a 2080ti card with no struggles yet. My LOD is @150. I even pushed to 200 and so far, no slide show. I don't really care about frame rates as long as i get smooth flying around and landing. Why chase frame rates, enjoy smoothness.

I occasionally skim posts like this and feel as if people are playing a completely different sim from me....... Was just flying over New York on ultra with my modest Nvidia 4070 at high 80's fps, and almost uniformly it was all smoother than I've ever experienced in any other sim....

And then I read about blurry textures, awful fps and people spontaneously barfing from the awfulness of it all.....

I just don't know.

Post a video in a major city with everything on max.

These people who claim to have no issues in MSFS 2024 with everything on max and in and major city, and with an old graphics card don’t care to post a video of their smooth performance.

Seriously? If a PC with an RTX 3080 struggles, then how on Earth does an XBox cope?

My 3080ti is giving me a smooth performance for the most part so far, but with Orbx GB North added and payware airports such as EGPF by Pyreegue, i'm only getting 35-40fps, on average.  That's with most settings on high and TLOD on 200 and OLOD on 150.

But yes smoothness is King.

On high settings, based on what i'm seeing with my 3080ti.

Always smooth as silk here, more than XP12 under some circumstances, with my rig in the sig, at low/mid/high mix of settings, now also with traffic injected by either BATC or FSHUD using FSTL models.

I did reduce the FSLTL textures to 2k from their default 4k, but with BATC and in 4k I made a few medium distance flights with no noticeable impact on FPS or stutters.

Since a couple of days, which coincided with the installation of FSHUD v2, strangely sometimes when I select "QUIT TO DESKTOP" the sim hangs and never quits... I have to kill it through the Windows Task Manager - only quirk I ever had with FS 2024 since I started using it.

Where are the videos of 2024 operating flawlessly in NYC, and with an old graphics card?
