MSFS2024 what does it really have to offer?

Featured Replies

I have MSFS2020 with Rex Accuseason and Rex Atmos.

Rex Accuseason gives me all the seasons and shorter/less trees.

Rex Atmos gives me white clouds (no more ash grey volcanic clouds).

MSFS2020 gives me a stutter free experience.

If I switch to MSFS024, what more will I get (apart from lower fps/stutter) ???? Not interested in career mode, only free flight/tubeliners.

  • Personally I'm tired of this kind of threads. It's always the same ones who spit their venom when they don't have or no longer have MSFS 2024. I understand that they are frustrated not to be able

  • Beats me. I suppose Steam users are stupid. O wait, I am a Steam user too LOL Well, it depends on how you use the sim, I suppose. Funny thing is that a lot of problems have to do with the career

MSFS 2024 was supposed to deliver faster loading times & performance, better weather visuals, and upgraded terrain. It seems that it's a better vfr sim for bush flyers. Since you fly airliners, then you should stick with 2020 until the new sim matures. This could take years.

MSFS 2020, with the right add-ons, CAN BE the best flight simulator ever created. Maybe GSX Pro is a better investment if you don't already have it.

I'll add this video:

Not sure I can make an informed assessment on MSFS 2024 since I only used it for a day and returned it.  In my experience, performance was a lot worse in 2024 than 2020. I did notice that the visuals are slightly better in 2024, especially the lighting.  Both sims are far from perfect, but MSFS 2020 is more matured and developed (obviously). And I agree with CFIJOSE's comments, it could take years to fix all the bugs in 2024. These fixes are not corrected overnight.  MSFS 2020 has been around for four years, and some of the problems still persist. I have decided to wait as long as possible before I even touch 2024. Good luck and let us know how your 2024 experience goes.

I'm a veteran FS user since the early 90s.  I've got FS2020 set up to my taste on a decent gaming laptop with a 3080.  Not a rocket ship but not a potato.  It runs PMDG and AI traffic at a rock solid 30FPS everywhere.

FS2024 provided stutters, blurry visuals, despite weeks of tweaking.  I tried to like it for a month, and then realised it was just getting me down and was never enjoyable.  I'm now having a great time in 2020, and won't touch 2024 unless they turn off the 2020 servers completely.

Lucky you! That's what you want/need!?

I'd suggest you go to FSX SE! You'll have more REX addons than for MSFS or FS24.

You'll have more great tubeliners than for MSFS or FS24.

The weather will be so much worse, but you'll have Active Sky so you won't have to ask what's better-with or without - which is a plus.

The ground textures will be horrible, but you don't care about them, it's all about IFR, right!?

Your PC will be like a spaceship, able to run it at wahtever settings you set.

I'm not joking or teasing you, for the things I said hold their ground.

However, if you can't accept it, it only means you do care much more about things you imply you don't.

I suppose you meant MSFS 2020...?

I meant 2020.

FS2024 adds an excellent support of utilisation of all CPU cores/threads. That's the single biggest improvement for me.

I was always CPU Main Thread limited. Now all 16 threads are evenly used on 60% in FS2024.  It is enough just to pop in a newer GPU and the whole system built in 2020 can function further.

BTW adding a good multi-core support is not as simple as it seems. Many software packages we use with my company in construction business still haven't managed this in 2025.

There's this little thing called the flight model that 2024 does much better. Ground handling is many times better too. Clouds look better with less transparent nonsense and more cloud types in live weather. Atmos can't give you that.  Trees look good from afar and up close because they're 3D and there's far more variation to them. Accuseason won't help you there either and Bijan has a solution for tree height, tho I'm sure Asobo will tame the issue soon enough like they did with 2020.

That and the A330 for me. I uninstalled 2024, but I'm looking forward to its improvements.

OMG What a load of word not allowed... He repeatedly says he really liked and enjoyed the career mode and the photographer mode but well, it isn't why he fires up a sim for... So he was having a good time but 'noooooooo, that's not what I sim for! I don't want to enjoy myself!' Seriously. What is it with all those people uploading word not allowed on the internet. What a total waste of time. WHO CARES!

Seems there is a new hype: people thinking it's really cool to say 'Hey, I went back to 2020 too! Yah! I am a real simmer too! Look at how cool I am!'

Geez.

My plan since before 2024 was released hasn't changed: use it without add-ons until all my 2020 add-ons have supported 2024 versions.

You see a lot of it on facebook and its something I call the 2020 insecurity. The fact that there are people on Avsim raging over Asobo putting out a hotfix that actually fixed something tells you all you need to know.
