MSFS2024 what does it really have to offer?

Question, if 2024 is so good, how come according to steam users, there has been a dramatic drop in people using it in the past two months?

The drop was exceedingly easy to predict after the first few days post release when it became apparently things weren't going to improve quickly enough to sustain growth in users.  2024 offers very good potential and already some spend most of their time simming in it.   I've yet to install 2024, my primary interest when I do will be to pick up GA flying as it's been a long time since I've done that, and clearly that is where the improvement inherent in 2024 will be more apparent.  Very much looking forward to it and told myself it will be 1-3 months before it's worth jumping in.  I'm imagining now the 3 month mark will be fine.

  • Personally I'm tired of this kind of threads. It's always the same ones who spit their venom when they don't have or no longer have MSFS 2024. I understand that they are frustrated not to be able

  • There's this little thing called the flight model that 2024 does much better. Ground handling is many times better too. Clouds look better with less transparent nonsense and more cloud types in live w

  • Beats me. I suppose Steam users are stupid. O wait, I am a Steam user too LOL Well, it depends on how you use the sim, I suppose. Funny thing is that a lot of problems have to do with the career

Some simmers will stay with 2020 until all of their addons work in 2024, and you can't blame them for that. My experience is a stable sim with few bugs that are affecting me.  I get a very satisfying smooth 60fps (limited - I can go higher but limit to 60 for headroom) with all settings on ultra & TLOD at 300 / OLOD at 200.

I was never happy with the lighting and colours in 2020, spending hour upon hour tweaking filters. in 2024 I haven't changed a thing since I installed it. Ground mesh resolution has been greatly increased in 2024.  Landing anywhere, as in 2020, is no longer possible.  Weather is better too.  I used to use weather addons for better clouds, but I am now using mostly default live weather with ASFS in passive mode for additional effects.  Ground physics are improved for all aircraft.  Aircraft feel like they have more inertia.

Although I am experiencing few bugs, I accept others are and therefore understand they are either staying with 2020 or have both installed.  2024 is technically the more advanced simulator out of the two, this can't be disputed. However, some will stay with 2020 for various reasons and there shouldn't be any kickback for that.

I don’t care about what a Steam user analysis says - I can only go by own personal experience using 2024. I have no issues whatsoever.

I only use freeflight mode. Apparently, career mode and missions are buggy, but I have no interest in those features even if they worked perfectly. I have been flying the IniBuilds Airbuses and Citation Longitude primarily. Performance, terrain, lighting etc are all excellent. I just completed a flight in the A321N from LAX to PHL which was perfect in all regards.

The only obvious bugs are external night lighting on the Longitude and the fact that any WASM add-on will cause the sim to freeze when ending the flight if SimBrief integration was used at any point. Neither bug is a “deal breaker” and I assume both will be fixed in SP1

I continue to use 2020 as well for the PMDG 737 and 777. My flying is about equally split between both versions.

I have MSFS2020 with Rex Accuseason and Rex Atmos.

Rex Accuseason gives me all the seasons and shorter/less trees.

Rex Atmos gives me white clouds (no more ash grey volcanic clouds).

MSFS2020 gives me a stutter free experience.

If I switch to MSFS024, what more will I get (apart from lower fps/stutter) ???? Not interested in career mode, only free flight/tubeliners.

Take out a trial subcription to Gamepass and see for yourself, instead of relying on what others have to say.

Oh yes no denying there's some worst ones out there, I'm talking about the ones I've played/dealt with as I haven't played them all obviously 😄

Well since the 1980s I'd say I've played more different genre of games than a lot of people, so no, you're extremely wide of the mark with your ill assumption.

But instead of actually discussing the issue, as detailed in the other thread, you resort to childish comments because you don't fully understand what it is we're discussing.

So for the final time; the hotfix last week was because of poor internal testing practices. So they wasted their time fixing something (else) they broke, it's shoddy workmanship of the likes we continue to see year after year with this games developer, so yes in all my DECADES of gaming and simulation - Asobo are the worst that I've ever seen with regards to Quality Control and Testing Procedures (amongst other things).

Have a nice day.

If the one hotfix they have come out with so far, broke something can you imagine the havoc that will happen when they release their first "mandatory" update?

I am sure you remember the experience in 2020 with mandatory updates..  It is part of the rough terrain.. but still a good ride 😊

So the 2024 beta testers get to travel that terrain again. Should be interesting. 😉

I think you'll find there isn't a beta test in progress with 2024.

True, but even I, as a big MSFS2024 fan, have to say it sure feels like there is!!!

That is because MS2024 is still in Alpha stage, not ready for Beta testing but sure go and support it. Its a year from a year to be considered acceptable.

You reckon it's in Alpha stage?  Crickey!  It seems a bit rough for that.    I am waiting for them to get the QC department up and running and then I might decide to become a tester.
