PMDG update re: MSFS 2024 SU1

Featured Replies

I'm just doing a quick hop EGSS/EDDF in the PMDG 738. It's more than flyable.

Caveat: I followed the advice of starting the flight with engines on on the runway, then getting GSX to move me to the gate. I only 'shut down' to a turnaround panel state and have now saved that for future flights. I believe there are bigger issues if you're hell-bent on doing a C&D each time.

With TCAS on, it's registering my own aircraft as a threat and I'm getting a wind uplink error when loading the data from the RTE page. But other than that, it's been great.

  • It would be nice if they simply released a compatibility update for the 737s before adding new features etc.  While I would certainly welcome those new features, I'd hate to have to wait 6 months to a

I find it amusing that people who spend thousands on a gaming rig, including the most expensive graphics card money can buy, complain about paying a modest fee for improvements to an aircraft model.

  • Fenix charged zero and they got it to work when MSFS24 was released.

I have heard nothing but good things about iFly and their plane(s).

I am with you there. Likely going to going skip upgrades and get the ifly

I generally like to read forum posts about new aircraft to see if there are any issues or what buyers like or dislike about the product, before purchasing. For seem reason it appears the only way you can do this with the iFlyMax is to purchase the aircraft first. Kind of a turn off.

Ive been flying the ifly now for a month....yesterday I bought boris sounds for the pmdg 737, massive improvement but today I have gone back to ifly...for me...its ifly bigtime....much more immersive...especially in VR, Im sure I wrote somethin smilar earlier in the weeks gone by. I think pmdg are great by the way...so Im not knocking them...I have the 777 too...love it!

Same for me

iFly said the same thing as PMDG just today, by the way. They were blocked until the SU1 Beta was released, which fixed important issues, and now allows them to actually be optimistic towards making the changes necessary for a 2024 version.

Question on the IFly 737 Max, can you import the Simbrief flight plan into the EFB and then the FMC like can be done with the PMDG?  Makes setting up a flight really quick, at least it is with the PMDG 737.

yes you can Bob but you do it through the FMC...really straightforward👍

First of all, fixing the PMDG aircraft so it will work with 2024 would be probably easier, if 2024 was not a moving target.

No different than 2020 updating every couple months.

They are coming up with ways to sell us all more “upgrades”.

777ER and Freighter 2024 native upgrades will be free, PMDG confirmed that back in December.

Of course plans could easily change, but I imagine they'd get quite the backlash if they did that.

They haven't decided on what they're going to do with the 737 yet.

There is no way I'm paying PMDG for the 737 AGAIN. I've lost count how many times I've bought that airplane but I reckon its got to be at least three times, maybe four?  In the P3D days we didn't have a choice - They were the only big kid on the block with a 737 to that level. Now there is iFly as a viable option and I'll be paying for an iFly 737 in a heartbeat over paying again for a PMDG 737

Yes, I know they're a business. Yes I know they have development costs for each aircraft they build, but the 2020 version just isn't that old, and I don't believe the compatibility is that far removed from 2024 to justify another paid upgrade.

So, now that I've got that out of my system, here's hoping they just release a free upgrade/patch to 2024.

Well even if they do charge for the 2024 version, it obviously won't be full price.
I would say between 10% -25% of the original asking price.

MSFS2024 arriving isn't their fault, and they could just turn around and say 'sorry - MSFS2020 only", so if they do work to bring it into 2024, I will be prepared to pay a bit, and I am sure most others will.

Or buying an airport for$30 that they might fly in and out of a couple of times.

Yes and no. There isnt any flight plan in the EFB to show you.

In the FMC however you just send a request

Magnificent children's fairy tale
💕🧚‍♂️🎉

Imagine you are buying a pair of pants for your 10-year-old son. You ask the salesman to hem them so that they fit your kid's size.
Your child grows up and the following year you go back to the salesman and ask him to adjust the length of the pants again.
The salesman, knowing his job well, left enough length to make this possible.
So he hems them again, less short.
You thank him, give him a friendly pat on the shoulder, take the pants back and leave the store without paying.
Is this possible?
No.
Because he will chase you with his scissors in one hand and a needle in the other, to stick it in your butt. And he will be right.

So why do you consider it normal for software developers to work for nothing and why do you get offended if they ask for a small contribution to adapt their product to a new environment?
Because you are too spoiled and think that the whole world should be at your service.

(End of this wonderful children's story)
