May 18, 20251 yr Hello, Interested in Chaseplane, I'm asking users: Is it possible to make a before-and-after backup (so as not to break all my MSFS view and camera assignments)? If so, how do you do it? Thank you in advance. I believe CP saves them so that when CP is uninstalled they will be there, but never tested that except I had to recently do a fresh Win 11 and sim installs, which means CP was not yet reinstalled, and yet I had to redo all the custom camera settings. FWIW, it's so easy to do all custom camera settings it wasn't a big deal as I use the same controller buttons for any plane I use. If you had installed chaseplane then your CP views, from my understanding, should be reinstalled from the CP cloud. G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron

G My understanding as well, just haven't reinstalled into 2020 as despite reinstalling 2020 as I'm just not using 2020 right now so was planning to hold off til compatible with 2024. But the question I was answering had to do w/ retaining MSFS 2020 custom camera settings, not for a reinstall of CP. May 18, 20251 yr The video below recommended using the MSFS Preset Manager to make copies of all of your controllers, ie Keyboard, Mouse and whatever other controllers you use that have camera settings and labeling them Chaseplane, and switching to those before starting Chaseplane. That way if anything goes wrong after exiting Chaseplane, you can simply select the old controller profile you used before without fear of losing your MSFS settings. Look around timestamp 9:45 or so. I found this lengthy video to be very helpful for more detailed tutorial on how to set up and use Chasplane. Greg Clark
May 19, 20251 yr >>>>The video below recommended using the MSFS Preset Manager to make copies of all of your controllers Man oh man I wish I'd done that. Unfortunately I'm not seeing my ChasePlane camera setup with a reinstall of Win 11 and MSFS 2020 I did this past week. In fact mistakenly said Yes to CP's prompt if I wanted to have all camera settings removed so I didn't have to do that manually myself. Now, I can't even move cameras (e.g, Alt arrow keys to move forward and backwards, or arrows left and right). All camera settings killed and sadly I believe MSFS saved them in the cloud that way, as empty. I have a support request in with //42 maybe I'm missing how to retrieve the previously setup ChasePlane that worked great. I have no idea if a complete reinstalled of 2020 would solve this because these empty settings may indeed have been backed up in the cloud. I wish this procedure was discussed by Parallel42 via a manual of as part of their WIKI FAQ on Chaseplane. Although a helpful way to clear potential conflicts, the ramifications may not be evident in the midst of learning how to set up Chaseplane, with unexpected consequences. Let us know if Parallel42 has a solution your situation. Greg Clark
May 19, 20251 yr As far as I know, CP creates a (local) backup of your previous settings! As soon as you uninstall CP, you will have the same controller files as before the installation! regards ggerolamo kind regards, ggerolamo

May 20, 20251 yr I have some good news🙂 Turns out the original 2020 Default settings are retained and can't be compromised so all I had to do was change the keyboard profile back to Default and all is well now. Whew! So I get to try again w/ CP and it won't take too long but it would be very cool if CP could simply directly import one's MSFS camera settings and be done with it, in fact not sure why that's not been done it would make it a much more pleasant setup! Plus, uber useful also for when 2024 full compatibility arrives for CP.
