DLSS 4 Definitive guide.

But in VR, 2024 has issues. My headset sometimes loses tracking (never in 2020).

And the overhead menu bar sometimes shows up in 2024 when I push the button, but usually not). The ATC window sometimes shrinks. Escape out and back cures that. And other little things that don't happen in 2020. But performance and especially the graphics and scenery is so much nicer in 2024, especially in VR.

DLSS 4 2020 Pimax Crystal Light: about 34fps with medium settings. in 2D maybe 65 fps (with FG).

DLSS 4 2024 Pimax Crystal Light about 47 fps with medium settings, in 2D maybe 80 fps (with FG).

I had way more stutters before I went to DLSS 4.

(I'm in the Beta version of msfs 2024, I find it better in every way then the release version)

I have everything on ultra and 5k resolution (1.78 DL) and I am getting 38 FPS with DLSS4.

If my GPU is going to die, it will die working like horse.

The latest version of Inspector is required however.

to add to the confusion:

using the default profile, as recommended by IslandSim, how do I scroll down to Section 7 and 8 that you are showing in your youtube, for some reason I can only get down as far as #6 - SLI. and that is finis terra for me.

only if I select the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, do I  get #7 and then "Other" and further down "Unknown". but no section #8.

and another strange issue: I can choose between 2 different Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 profiles in the drop down list box.  what gives?

very nice.

Highly recommend this fine Gentleman's video - works perfect - I have it loaded but that said TAA is far superior on my OLED - I went thru these steps was a breeze

People went to hell and back to get rid of the greyed-out DLSS settings in the Nvidia app, and all you had to do was hit reflesh and it works (haha).

Just to add spice to the mix.

I reset everything to default in App and Inspector, and deleted them.

I removed the new driver with DDU and did a clean install of it.

I then simply used DLSS Swapper to put the latest DLL files in MSFS 2024.

Then did the regedit to show DLSS in use.

Was DLSS 4 with Preset K, no App needed, no Inspector needed, no nonsense, just the files and the latest driver.

Now do I think of any of this made any difference... no.

Was performance noticeably better... no.

Did I see Ghosting when using DLSS - DLAA... yes.

Have I seen Ghosting on videos people have uploaded to show that they don't have ghosting with DLSS 4 and Preset K... yes.

Is any of this worth messing around with, in my most humble opinion...no.

That's all I needed to read to abandon this quest which has been fraught with unpredicted issues for me.  Right now w/ DLSS 3.8 I find ghosting is already modest enough, performance excellent and otherwise it's close enough to TAA to be comfortable sticking with NVSR + DLAA.  I also use SecondaryScaling 1.5 which helps with ghosting as well.  And bonus all I had to do was drop 3.8 into the Content folder, and all done.  It was a modest upgrade over the prior version.  I'll try again some day with DLSS4 when all of these additional steps are history.

With my lowly hardware, I need all the help I can get. DLSS4 and K make my sim much more playable because I don't have the luxury of using top settings in MSFS (especially in VR).

The only language that MSFS 2020 and 2024 understand is sheer GPU horse power. Forget about the fake frames, it's a mess based on what's I've seen and experienced.

Always trying to catch up so close yet so far away - and GPU'S are stupid money so that makes it even worse to catch up😍
