tweaks work for some and not for others, some say it works in 2020 but not 2024, some use the nvidia app, others use profile inspector, some use dlss swapper and some dont, I'm not

some have been struggling with DLSS since the 70s: "some say that and some say this."

Thanks for the effort, but it did not work for me, all relevant settings greyed out after the driver update. I assumed a corrupted install and reinstalled the new driver. The reboot after that never finished and after 30 minutes I shut the computer down. After that, it would not reboot any more. Finally, Windows offered me the option to use a restore point, now I‘m back in business. I will certainly not try again.

2020 you can just use the new nvidia app I believe. This hassle is more for 2024. PS it looks better than TAA now.

I kept asking about this, so i am on FS2020, i will just use the NVIDIA app then.

I’m not sure what all the drama is here. Swap dlls of this and that isn’t needed, but hey, some people can not be helped.

The problem my end was the CustomSettingNames.xml - once I deleted that I saw all the options in your NvidiaInspector screenshot.

Maybe deleting the CustomSettingNames.xml should be a step in your guide?

Go to the folder where you have Nvidia Profile Inspector and delete the file named CustomSettingNames.xml and then run Nvidia Profile Inspector.

That was it thankyou.  All good once that was deleted.

Of course, OP must also add the source 😉

Everything seems a bit less foggy now - I'll try this after I get home from work. Hopefully there will eventually be an easier solution for MSFS2024.

Same here, disabling CustomSettingNames.xml brings this option back. But at the expense of having the options to force DLSS presets or scaling ratios...

Eureka! It worked for me. I've only got a 3080ti so run the hack to get Frame Generation working. When I followed the instructions above I lost the FG option in the game settings but going back into Nvidia Inspector and changing the FG Override option back to all zeros has brought it back. More importantly the DLSS Quality setting in game now produces a beautifully crisp image, way better than anything I've seen previously.

Great Post @Ianrivaldosmith  thanks!

Maybe, if all things fail, why not try preset J(ay) or K

I finally had some time to fiddle with this.

Nvidia App: all DLSS override settings for both 2020 and 2024 were greyed out

I did all the steps described by Ian and TenPatrol. This is what the DLSS indicator shows:

Hopefully that means that DLSS4 is working correctly.
