5.) Download NVidia inspector. You need new version 2.4.0.8 https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/download/2.4.0.8/nvidiaProfileInspector.zip

6.) Run it and change the settings as per my pictures below.

Now that I have installed the new Nvidia driver and enabled the newest DLSS 4, is NVidia inspector still necessary for the new DLSS 4 to take effect?

It is only necessary if you do not use the Nvidia APP. If you use NPI with the settings above, the driver automatically overwrites with Preset K, no matter which version of DLSS you have in the directory. It uses directly from the driver so there is no need for Nvidia APP or DLSS Swapper

Do we just swap these in using DLSS Swapper?

OMG you're kidding?  I just went to TechPowerup and got the latest DLSS and I wondered why the heck can't you just drop it in the Contents folder where my 3.8 version lives.  As long as you have the latest NV driver it actually works?

I can only speak of my experience, on MSFS 2024 with a 4000 series card.

But after messing round with everything for ages with varying and often contradictory advice/instruction etc., I got fed up of the whole thing and set everything back to default.

This is what I did…

I'm puzzled.   When you wish to update the DLSS file you simply download the latest, remove the current one in C:/XboxGames/MFS/Content, and replace it with a newer or other one.   What makes DLSS4 different than other DLSS files in this regard, or is it?

Okay, I must be missing something because all of this rigamarole to get DLSS4 out of the latest driver appears to be completely unnecessary.  I just downloaded 310.2.1.0 and dropped it where it's supposed to live in game:  C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content.  All of this hoopla for naught...unless I'm missing something?  And indeed I'm seeing the improved graphics and maybe performance as well as reduced ghosting and maybe even a little less strobing/flicker too early to say.  And I'm using a NV driver from around Nov 2024 to boot.

As I understand it, once things work correctly, all you'll need to do is set the DLSS Override in the Nvidia app and that will override whatever DLL's are in the MSFS directory, so you'll never need to manually replace DLL's again and will always have the latest version as long as you keep the Nvidia App and drivers up to date. But things are not currently working correctly, at least with 2024... it seems Nvidia did not add 2024 to the DLSS Super Resolution whitelist, so it appears the DLSS Override setting is only available to those with 40/50(hah!) series cards; for 30 series cards it's greyed out because the app thinks DLSS Override Super Resolution is unsupported (maybe they found some issues, or maybe it's just because the Nvidia App is still new and somewhat buggy).

Personally, I'm just going to wait for an Nvidia App or MSFS update to officially support this, but then again I've never messed with the DLL files in the past either.
