March 22, 20251 yr The best thing I've done since I purchased and installed FS 2024 (and uninstalled it a few times too 😁, for the sake of my mental health and validating aircraft fly like kites in the sim), was this suggestion: Change your 2024 Community folder location! - Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024) - The AVSIM Community Yes I know there's a very interesting App that can manage your addon folders, just like there was one for P3D, but if that's really necessary I always prefer to manage symbolic links myself (it's probably because I've been working in Unix and derivative flavours since 1982 of the last Century...) I also always make sure the "UserCfg.opt" agrees with that change made through the cogwheel of "My Lybrary". Then, under the "Online" Options I always change the location of the CACHE file to the same location. So, all of my non-streamed as well as the "StreamedPackages" folder were safe under: "F:\MSFSisShoytFMbutWowScenes\" folder. I have there: F:\MSFSisShoytFMbutWowScenes\Community F:\MSFSisShoytFMbutWowScenes\Official2020 F:\MSFSisShoytFMbutWowScenes\Official2024 F:\MSFSisShoytFMbutWowScenes\StreamedPackages F:\MSFSisShoytFMbutWowScenes\ROLLINGCACHE.CCC After doing so I delete the CACHE and StreamedPackages file and folder from their original locations, and until MASOBO does it's Magic again with one of these "nightly" devastation acts, they remain safe and sound at their new locations... When stuff like yesterdays update happens the only thing I have to do is to: .) change again the default Community folder location through the "My Library" cogwheel options; .) change again the size, and location of the ROLLINGCACHE.CCC file, and delete the default one, which was probably created by the messed update from the default location (under "C :" if you haven't changed the default xBox install location in xBox App) This way all I have to do is a sim restart, and all of my stuff under Community is "back to live" 🙂 Edited March 22, 20251 yr by jcomm Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
March 22, 20251 yr Although I have the MS Store version, I was lucky enough to avoid this hot mess as I had opted out of the beta a few days ago. This is not looking too good for Asobo, what a blunder! 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
March 22, 20251 yr After starting up FS2024 I am being presented with a pop-up stating that I have to "manage my subscription or see in Xbox app". Neither of these options works. FS2024 now has become unplayable for me. Any suggestions, please, how to circumnavigate this issue or how to opt out from the beta from here? As I couldn't get into FS2024, fortunately my Community folder and settings haven been deleted or changed. March 22, 20251 yr I believe all profiles are actually stored online and tied to your account. Last time a wipe like this happened for 2024 I recall the fix was to log-out of the xbox account within sim, restart it, then log back in. This should then restore the settings. It worked for me, albeit I think I still lost my graphics setting but bindings and everything else came back. In this case they must have pulled the patch from Steam - I'm on SU1 beta and it's not showing an update available.
March 22, 20251 yr Commercial Member exactly the same issue, reinstalling the whole thing now 😞 it just crashed and died after the update and refused all attempts to revive it. - Jane Whittaker
March 22, 20251 yr Commercial Member Beware: The update cleared my Community folder and removed the UserCfg.opt As a result the Contrail App and Orbx Central assume the simulator is "not installed" until you close the sim - at which point the UserCfg.opt is created again. This might also mean that any setting, including a custom PackagesPath might be reset to default. I'm on the beta branch Cheers, Lars

March 22, 20251 yr I confess it was never this bad since FS 2020 update quirk times... Thankfully I had done what I describe at this other thread, so, all of my "stuff" was easily recovered in the time of a sim restart and a couple minutes deleting and checking files like "UserCfg.opt" Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

March 22, 20251 yr Do they ever learn? How many times now? And stuff some people using the excuse of 'you are enrolled in a beta!'. This still shouldn't happen. It appears this isn't even SU2 beta anyway, but just some 'backend' preparation for people on the beta program. No in-depth explanation given. I can only say this smacks of more incompetence again. Then again, I have come to expect it now. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). My guess would be that you'll have to reinstall ALL of your addons that resided in the Community folder 😕 Unless you're using some sort of "Cloud" backup solution in your PC? Do you have OneDrive active for cloud backups of your system and apps, even better if associated with the same MS account you use for the sim?
