March 22, 20251 yr So i though once out of the beta everything should start up ok ... Apparently not. Frankly this is unserious behavior from whomever is at fault ... Dont care if its MS or Asobo. It would be ok if the control setup wasn't such a word not allowed pain in the word not allowed. But whatever, Like a few others i did not invest much in the way of addons on this mess and i definitely have no desire to rebind all my equipment at this point. Will be staying on MSFS2020 for quite a bit till the entire MSFS2024 project management figure their issues out.. If they are so HELLBENT ON CLOUD BASED stuff then the word not allowed settings should be backed up and available in situations like these... But noooo... their asses are much more concerned with making sure everything else gets streamed.. 🤬 AMD Ryzen 9800X3D/ Asus ROG Strix B650E F Gaming WiFi / Asrock Taichi 9070XT / 32GB G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 6000 / 2x ADATA XPG 8200 Pro NVME / Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 / Seasonic Vertex 1000w PSU / Lian Li LanCool II Mesh Performance / Asus VG34VQL3A / Topping E70 Velvet DAC & L70 Amp /Sennheiser HD660s2 Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke + TCA Sidestick + TFRP Rudders
March 22, 20251 yr Has this "update" been removed by MSFS? I am glad I haven't run MSFS2024 or 2020 for a while. It seems to have created a lot of havoc. Thanks. Jim Morgan

At my company we have multiple repositories for each project, including dev, stage, pre prod and prod. Any of our developers on a project can trigger an update to dev, but the number of people who can push a build to any other repo reduces until there is but one person who can push anything to prod. And that push to prod requires sign offs from the client. This ensures that at a minimum basic testing of the release was done. This isn’t really anything we came up with. SOC-2 compliance is a set of best practices covering many aspects of software development, and after 4+ years experiencing the way Asobo manages their projects, it is pretty clear that they just don’t have a structured process in place. Which given that this has Microsoft on the cover really surprises me. Unfortunately it seems gaming software companies (I'm generalising here) don't have such procedures in place, they deem it "ok" to push out updates that may break something or introduce new issues, again generalising as I've seen this nonsense attitude towards Quality Control and what not elsewhere. The thing here is they've had X number of years to learn from these constant data wiping episodes as one area that's needed blatant improvement, yet they've learnt absolutely nothing. Again I question the management here, what is Jorg doing exactly to continually allow such poor updates to be released to the public? It's yet again on his shoulders as it's his responsibility, he's yet again going to have to come out on a Q&A and sheepishly apologise - twice in four months... March 22, 20251 yr One thing I have to stay it is loading really fast with this beta. I have a custom community folder location. So the speed has nothing to do with my folder being cleaned out. This had to be re-set from the marketplace location. If most in there is streamed I would expect this load up speed. Having said that I have to re-install Navigraph and some airports, GSX, etc. Who knows. Edited March 22, 20251 yr by lenny777 Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb

Maybe, my settings still exist in the cloud. Since I just moved to a new PC, I still have the old install of MSFS 2024 on my old PC. Maybe those files will help to restore the settings. For now, I will just leave MSFS 2024 untouched and wait how this whole nightmare develops. What a mess... [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE

March 22, 20251 yr Just now, turbomax said: said the eraser to the un-installer 🤣🤣🤣 This is actually a good outcome of today's messed up update. As I had posted there wasn't really much hard done to my install because I had all of the folders aways from there default locations. The PM most complex process that followed was created by me 😁 because I simply decided to make a fresh definition of all of my controller settings. Thanks to one of your links I found that miraculous command line directive that erases the cloud store of an MSFS install, and that way when I started FS 2024 afterwards I was presented with the full initial setup of the SIM. I did lose all of my controller settings, but I meant to do it and start from scratch because I will now opt for creating specific profiles for each aircraft, instead of generic classes off profile. So, tbh, in my case all of th work I'm having was created by me, not because of whatever mistake was done by the MSFS team. March 22, 20251 yr It certainly is annoying that MSFS got reinstalled automatically and the community folder was gone. I had to wait for the 8.7 GB download (10 minutes) and then copied the data from my community folder backup. Luckily only the graphics settings were reset, the controller settings were as I expected. So, short shock moment but nothing lost.
March 22, 20251 yr So I did not touch MSFS2024 for like a week. Today I noticed that my PC is downloading something in the background. Hate when that XBOX app is just starting on its own and doing some nasty things like downloading update in the background without me allowing it. Need to figure out how to block this kind of behaviour. It is quite strange. I have disabled Xbox app from the start up and it will still run in the background even if it set in windows to not start when PC is starting. So yeah I did not touch MSFS2024 at all and suddenly have the same issues as others. Lost community folder, lost settings, lost my settings for TCA pack. Great work Asobo. Glad that I am mostly playing the MSFS20 due to that bad LOD/DRAW distance in MSFS24. In MSFS20 I can see the planes and contrails from miles away when in cruise on VATSIM. But in MSFS24 maybe maximum I can somehow spot some contrail and planes in cruise is 8miles ?!
