SU2 Resource Usage Exceeds GPU Memory Capacity?

Featured Replies

This seems to be a new popup particular to SU2.

Shows occasionally for me while flying 2K with ultra settings, but seems to be just a warning, though some have mentioned CTD's on the MS forums. Surprising to me, since Asobo is claiming memory savings.

Anybody here seeing this? https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/resource-usage-exceeds-gpu-memory-capacity-error-plus-ctd/713173

Yes, saw this message on two different occasions while flying three flights today. Nothing happened, no CTD's or anything untoward, just the message. Flights remained smooth with no stuttering.

Both times I was approaching and very near a large city, so I'm sure the messages were warranted as a warning I could have an issue.

Yes, I saw it today while flying VR in the Fenix..

Happily Fenix updated their Airbusses to work with SU2...

I was running full res on the PCL and the message kept showing up so dropped it down to 3234 x 3826 with TAA mode and setting on high and medium...along with 2 3rd party airports..

Very smooth flight with no issues - very happy!

Haven't seen it yet, probably because I'm not flying airliners into big airports lately.

I fly the FFX vision jet, so you don't have to be in an airliner to see it. I think they have just added this warning for the time being if you approach your Vram limits while they work on possible optimization solutions.

I've seen it before it crashed to the desktop at some point.

I saw this all the time in VR when switching to TAA and going through the DLSS options, I don't want to see this ever so hope there's a way to turn it off.

Why don't you want to see it ever? You prefer the sim to crash on you without warning? It's warning you to lower your settings or it will crash, it seems useful to me.

I have MSI Afterburner to tell me if I'm close to using all VRAM, System RAM, GPU & CPU etc. I don't need to be warned in game by an annoying pop up, it needs an Off option.

People whit 4090/5090 seeing this too, it's probably a side effect of  the memory logging.

I have done a lot of testing to push the limits of VRAM and understand the message.  I cannot correlate the message with any resource measure I see in PresentMon or Frameview.  My GPU is always at 99% and my VRAM usage is at 10.9 out of 12 GB while getting 50 FPS around San Diego airport with most settings at High and some Ultra. I see no hard page faults in the CPU.

Sometimes the message DOES NOT appear when my FPS plummets, my GPU and CPU time skyrocket (from about 20ms to 250ms) and the GPU wait increases dramatically.  At other times I see the message when the FPS drops but there are no other resource usage changes.

Lining up the Asobo TBM 930 for takeoff at a big airport (KPSP, KSJC, KSAN all with ORBX addons) almost always results in FPS dropping to single digit but I see no message most of the time.  At other time with the TBM lined up at the same airport I see 45 FPS with "normal" resource usage and do get the message.

It would be nice if they gave us some more information.

I am getting frustrated with this message on SU2 Beta.  Running a 3080ti and randomly even on mid settings the warning will pop up.  Even testing just the Fenix and default airports.  What is worse is MSFS 2024 is automatically reducing the majority of my graphics settings to low or off. Anyone know how to prevent this?  I am not using nVidia App, nor have it installed.  AutoFPS is also not running, or all Reduce Settings options disabled

Stuttering maybe, but why should it crash when it runs out of VRAM?  That isn't normal is it?

This is a garbage message that just spams for no reason. I swear I will pay Captain scam 50$ for an addon a month just to hide this message.

Why can’t Asobo just let well enough alone. JFC.

I've seen it just upon spawning the aircraft at the airport, the A350 not surprisingly, but even the A321LR has done it. I've also not had any crashs from it, but it taunts me, makes we wish I had more VRAM... 😒
