April 6, 20251 yr I have been informed that the powerlines do not actually connect from tower to tower. They only extend a short distance from each tower, and sometimes point in completely different directions when compared to the line of towers. I have also been told that only one type of tower model can be used globally at any one time, even though there are apparently nineteen different types for "regional variation". I would be interested to have the above information independently confirmed..... April 6, 20251 yr Well if this is true, they are virtually useless. The colour of the metalwork doesn't even look right. It looks so artificial. Why would anybody have these instead of Puffin Flight's version. I have lost faith with this company anyway. A lot was wasted money looking back now, with very slow updates to the aircraft and airfields. And I really don't know what they were thinking of releasing that TBD Avenger. April 6, 20251 yr Power lines and towers must be difficult to model because the same thing happened with the powerline addon in 2020. The towers were out of scale relative to local environment and the actual cables were intrusive and very unrealistic. April 6, 20251 yr I'm surprise nobody talks about a very good powerline addon available for MSFS2020 as a freeware by Mamu (Federico Pinotti). I've been using it for years I don't really remember from where I got it, maybe FS.to. April 6, 20251 yr And it is MSFS2024 compatible 😉 Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
April 6, 20251 yr As far as I am aware, that freeware version of the powerlines addon is no longer available. It is now payware. April 6, 20251 yr It is. But it is MILES ahead of this product here, not only because you actually get powerLINES and not only the masts. Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024

Theres far more than 19 types of pylon, there are many variations on mainstream designs, but you could probably do a good job with maybe 10 types in the sim Edited April 6, 20251 yr by Rusty Spanner
April 6, 20251 yr Just to echo @edpatino and @AnkH, the Mamu "Powerlines and Solar Farms" package is just excellent. And, I might add, so are his "Marinas" and "Project Lifts." They are now payware (each is 15.00 euros, 13.50 euros on sale) and IMHO well worth the price for those who normally fly within sight of the ground. His website is Mamu Design. --Mike MacKuen
April 6, 20251 yr It looks to me as if the Orbx pylons work well in MSFS 2020 and all the reported faults here are only to be seen in MSFS 2024. This is next to a power station in the UK, but in MSFS 2020: The same power station can be seen from miles away in MSFS 2020, but in MSFS 2024, only the chimney can be seen from miles away and the cooling towers pop in as it is approached. I wonder if that is also what is happening to the cables. We must all be aware that until they are close, AI and multiplayer landing aircraft have no undercarriage and in some cases no engines and no propellers until they are almost close enough to touch. At a guess, the simulator is treating the cables as too small to display unless close by. Edited April 6, 20251 yr by Reader
April 6, 20251 yr Mamu gives superb support on his Discord. I floundered around installing my copy (solar farms didn't look right) and he has the patience of a saint. For the record, when you buy from his website you given two downloads, both names the same. I put this down to 'foreign-ness' It was in fact one for powerlines and one for solar farms. 🙄 Although for the life of me I questioned why did I want to install monstrous blots on the landscapes? The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
