Uninstall Xbox app, uninstall GamingService app (I did it via Start/Settings/Apps) restart PC. Reinstall from Microsoft Store (Just the XBox app) restart PC. Run Xbox app and it will/should update itself. Sorted. That's what worked for me. Just sayin' EDIT: Like Adrian said. 😛 Oh and kudos to “TenPatrol” who figured it out. Thanks a lot Ron, this was the only uninstall-install procedure that worked for me too. SN737

May 14, 20251 yr I am going to try this. How does the GamingService app get reinstalled? Thanks. It's amazing how Microsoft consistently ruins software the more time they have with it... Skype, Teams, Office, Windows, MSFS2024... It shows up in your add or remove programs after the ap updates itself. It's a shame that we had to rely on our community for a fix. BTW, I forgot to mention that I'm on Win 10 Pro. MSFS

Did not work for me. Win11 with previous and yesterday's update. I also had uninstalled the recent MSFS2020 Cities 10 update. Note: After a flight I always reboot PC so that takes care of the problem for me. Edited May 14, 20251 yr by vonmar Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
May 14, 20251 yr Others have tried the fix on the FS Forum, and very soon, the problem resurfaces. Easiest soultion until Asobo fixes this 2020 issue, which may be never is this: If you have Windows 11, set this up and with one click you can close MSFS. https://pureinfotech.com/enable-taskbar-end-task-close-apps-windows-11/

Did not work because right click in task manager does not show the new "Exit option" for when flight sim is still running in the background. Possibly I am right clicking in the wrong spot on the taskbar at bottom of desktop? Ok, watched the video: The still running MSFS 2020 running Icon is what needs to be right clicked on. In my case the MSFS 2020 icon is not present so nothing to right click on. However, the MSFS2020 is still running in the background. So, would need to bring up the taskmanager and close it there or reboot the PC. Edited May 14, 20251 yr by vonmar Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
