Got the update.  Have you been able to see the Arizona memorial off of Ford Island?  I don't see it since I updated.

See my screenshot a few posts back..

Samscene itself finally replied to questions regarding this and admit that they will have to redo some of their sceneries to be compatible

Yeah, there are a few buildings very slightly out of position, but barely noticable unless you get very close and not enough to really bother me at all and unless you knew the cities really well, you wouldn't notice at all.

I see what I think looks like a couple of double buildings in New York, though there may be twin buildings in real life and NY is probably not relevant to this thread anyway.

Oddly they are updating existing cities but not ones that are defective since launch...like Phoenix.  There is no PG..just autogen.

Sorry I'll take the updates to the core sim and the 3rd party's will do what they've always done and either ammend their product or come up with something else.

But.... Doesn't this occur with every sim? The confusion and waiting for 3rd parties to catch up after the switch from XP11 to XP12 (and all the updates before)

The addon incompatibilities after a P3D update.... With many planes and etc still incompatible. (And with vender's withdrawing from that market, those products will possibly never be updated.....)

Why give MSFS/Asobo demerits for unavoidable practical, technical and economic facts we've otherwise accepted for literally decades?

As a MSFS 2020 user, who loves the sim, I would rather see updates to the core sim, such as adding weather layers, improving AI Traffic, or the ATC, instead of receiving updates of Cities that are never really done correctly or have add-ons that cover those areas.

These improved cities are not updated with new lighting and bridge fixes. They are PG update files that I have to disable because I prefer what I had before the update. These updates sometimes do more harm than good. Ask Bob. 😀

Upgrades to a sim, such as going from XP 11 to XP 12, that's different. They are different sims.

The MSFS 2024 has done a great job in trying to make add-ons compatible with 2020. They have a lot of things that they want to improve. I hope that this time they focus on the things that really need attention. They probably won't!

That's easy. Pay me and I will do it for them. 😀

All I will have to do is, type the airport, aircraft, or city into my browser and I'll know if there's another one available.

Not that hard at all.

Update: Just wanted to mention that updates to the core sim are welcomed, but please don't break my sim. At least I can disable most WU and that usually fixes a conflict. For those who love the updates, then keep them active.

I see the Arizona on your shot.  However, I did do the City Update and enabled it, BUT I still do not have that object.  Something is not right, but I don't know really how to fix it.  I do not have the Arizona in Honolulu when I fly by where it should be.  What ELSE could be missing.  I really don't know.

From my perspective because of the MP debacle with the '24 release where dev's were dependant up MS/Asobo for getting MP right as well as their advertised backward compatibility so they own the add-on channel to market and hindered every dev's opportunity at that huge new release revenue for months and 2.  they set the wrong expectations...

That's why I personally hold them more accountable than when this happened in P3D for example.  Just my .02

Outside of that though Samscene having to update because of a sim update, that's par for the course, I completely agree with that...

I've got the same situation with my Honolulu scenery.

You do realise that you are not the only person that uses the sim right? not everyone has the same budget as you for buying 3rd party addons some rely on sim updates to improve the area they fly in. Your oversimplistic type it into a browser doens't exactly tell them who does and who doesn't have a particular update now does it. As you said if you have an 3rd party update and don't want the Core update disable it in the sim.
