2024 - Better Than You Think

Featured Replies

Note no question just that 2024 is better than you think.

My best feature is that my 5900x cruises along at 30% unlike 10% in my previous sim.

All the while my 3060ti is doing the job 70% VRAM.

I might try it again in a year or so, but at its stage for the moment. No thank You!

Well this is a useless thread.  Is this what the 2024 evangelists have to post once in a while to try to convince themselves, because most users won't be fooled.
It needs maybe another year, and then I bet we still won't have fixes for the pop-up runway turnoff markers, the random stuttering, the planes floating in the air at airports, settings getting lost etc., etc., etc.,

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Exactly!!! 👍👍👍

All those things that you listed are not an issue especially floating AI, stuttering or settings getting lost. I just completed a flight in PMDG 772 from RJAA to VHHH and did not experience any of those issues. I'm not requesting that you switch sims but at least get your information correct and not hear say.

Yeah, I turned off "Real Time Air Traffic" once I was taking off at JFK and witnessed approximately 20 planes several feet apart and a few commercial airliners flying backwards. That broke the realism factor by 10. Thankfully, Microsoft no longer uses the tagline "As Real As It Gets" for the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise.

Don't get me wrong, I am appreciative of what Asobo has done, as a developer with nary any background in flight simulation development, so major props to them but MSFS 2024 does need work.

Then there's something really wrong with your setup. I have never seen that using AIG AI.

Good grief, there are plenty of information sources that list the improvements over 2020.

Again, why 'no thank you'?

You need to give more info than that.

Nothing wrong with my setup. I have seen it several times. I turned off real time air traffic. That fixed it for me. I'm glad MSFS 2024 works the way you like it but I can't unsee what I have seen.

Let's turn this around shall we:

On the other hand we have the constant moaning from the people who don't want to make the transition, having to tell the rest of the world every 2 weeks how perfectly 2020 runs and that they don't see making a transition to the oh so awful 2024 for the next year.

Can we just enjoy our preferred sim?

I never used the sim real time traffic AI, so you may be correct. I only use AIG for my AI traffic, and it runs quite well. And whatever Asobo done in its recent under the hood updates, Vram usage has dropped almost 30% and my FPS has almost tripled in some of the worst areas. This is just my experience. I will amit that 2024 had a rough start and I also wanted to drop it all together and return to 2020, because of performance, but I cannot go back to 2020 at this point with the changes SU2 beta has injected into the sim. There's still much work to be done but 2024 but it is maturing very well from what it was when first released. Will it ever be perfect, IDK, but its looking good for the future. That's why developers are moving on to the new platform and leaving the older one behind. You can live in the past or embrace the future. you can see it coming just what developers are releasing and supporting. 2020 will be obsolete by years end.

I was with you until this point - no self respecting flight simmer would waste time in a pub when they could be flying.
