Rude UK waypoint names to be changed

Featured Replies

I hope they never dare to see the MQU VOR when approaching SKBO from the west... or when flying into SKQU directly. I won't translate this, because I'm sure I'll at least trigger the profanity filter. Those who know Spanish will have a heart attack😂

  • I was a UK air traffic controller for over 30 years.  I remember when the majority of these 5 letter waypoints were introduced and in all the time since then, I never heard a single objection to them.

Just more inane, petty stuff the govt. is wasting money and time on.  Probably some useless drone in the DEI office came up with this bright idea. Aren't there more important issues to worry abou

  • There’s a waypoint in Russian airspace called A R SES , which I once spotted on my route and so I couldn’t resist the opportunity to request a direct route. I’m sure it’s been done many times bef

I’m sure this will bring a smile to many of you. Some UK waypoint names are to be changed as they’re deemed offensive. Wouldn’t want that would we? 🤣

A free article in today’s British Telegraph…

Not that I'm doubting the validity of this article and if true the name change is pretty ridiculous. However, other than the Telegraph, I can't find any other news outlet reporting this (That doesn't reference the telegraph article itself). Nor can I find the CAA circular that the telegraph themselves are referencing. I am also struggling to find the circular or publication from the CAA website itself.

Is there any other sources to this?

An initial search found nothing. I suppose Pprune would be a good one to check.

Someday, they might get to something that actually moves the ball down the field...

The UK ATC people have obviously nothing more serious to do …

Ah yes the double standards of being righteous … I dream of a day when the human race evolves past things that don’t matter and can focus on things that do matter.

You mean like our self imposed climate situation, or the “we vs. them” global trading gaming, or getting everyone educated and not just the few?   🙂

Did you not read the article or the Pprune chat? Plenty of FAA chatter there.
