After pulling out of the 2024 Beta, my community folder got wiped again.......i swear...so... incredibly...... frustrating. Without addons linker, i'd probably have just tossed my PC into a river.

This program, so simple, yet so powerful. I honestly think it is THE single best program for MSFS. I tried to donate to the creator, but there's no donation link - he really deserves it...Seriously, ASOBO needs to get their stuff together...this is insanity.

Where have you purchased your version? After switching to Steam for 2024, I never had issues that I had in the past with 2020 from the MS Store.

It's a must have add-on. Gold Award Winner IMHO

If I could only have one utility add-on for MSFS, it would be Add On Linker. I didn't know I needed it until I started using it.

I'm one of those who still don't know they need it.

I'm very happy with my switch to steam also in 2024.  Though I also value Addon linker highly as well.

If you have a significant "library" of addons and your sim takes forever to load, Addon Linker will change your life if you don't particularly like waiting for MSFS to load.

In the example below, you can see that I've organized my scenery into geographical sections of the world.   If for example, I'm doing flights in the EU and I'm lazy (or doing many of them at a time and just want to load all of them), I just check the box by "EU" and all my EU sceneries are going to load in MSFS.  Since I'm not flying anywhere else in the world today, I just turn off all the other sceneries and I save minutes of wasted loading time and memory loading all the scenery I'm NOT flying to or near.

But today I'm ONLY flying from Boston to Miami.  So, you can see that I only have those 2 airports checked (and further see how I've sub-divided the USA scenery)...so no other scenery is loading, saving so much loading time and memory!

 

And this just scratches the surface of what Addon Linker can do.  You can create sets of scenery to preload with a click, and pretty much revolutionize how you "manage" your Addon loads.

And its not JUST for scenery....you can manage ANY Addon that loads into MSFS.   Here you can see that I have my aircraft... and lets say I'm flying the Fenix Delta A320 on my KBOS-KMIA trip.  Yep....ALL other aircraft will not be loading...saving again tons of time and memory. 

And at the bottom I have a "3Utilities" section for...well...you know.   The 1,2,3 in the front of the folders allow the 1Scenery to flow to the top (because I alter it the most), the 2Aircraft, and finally 3Utilities.

That is how I organize my addons...of course there are a thousand ways to do it, this just works for me.

I agree with others that this is by far the BEST freeware-should be payware application out there, hands down.

Store. I haven't used the steam version so i can't comment on that. however, with the store version, throughout fs2020 and 24, i've probably had at least 5 community folder wipes from updates.

 

I'm wondering, since I use the ORBX app, aerosoft app, contrails app, and the simmarket app, if there's a way to turn off symbolic linking for those programs and just install them into my own directories so I can manage everything with Addons Linker.

I do use it easily for iniBuilds and Simmarket, just the others.

It's probably the single most greatest add on I've ever needed for any game or simulation since forever, brilliant app.

I don't and it doesn't. My Community folder has 58 items in it, scenery and aircraft. MSFS2024 loads incredibly quickly. Much quicker than 2020 ever did and even quicker post SU2. Plus I have no idea what I will be flying and where until the Free Flight world is right in front of me. In one session I might fly four aircraft from half a dozen locations. This just seems like a faff for no reason. My Community folder is in a custom location, I've never lost access to it and it's never been wiped as has been referenced here. It's also backed up regularly on an external ssd just in case. 

I think this looks ideal if your mind works that way but I just flash up 2024, decide what to fly and where, change my mind and change it back again and off we go. There is no way I would decide before MSFS even started what I was going to do in that particular session. 

I use ADDON LINKER every session- the Developer is very helpful and a blessing for sure!
