Fenix A320: is it the right time to buy?

Featured Replies

Since the days of FSX I've been flying Boeing only. Now I'm on FS2024  and maybe it is time for me to learn Airbus so I'm considering the Fenix A320. On their blog, I can read (November 24, 2024):

"This update brings initial compatibility with MSFS 2024... This is not simply the 2020 version ported, we’ve rebuilt the package with the 2024 SDK... However, a disclaimer before we continue: We consider MSFS 2024 support entirely experimental at this stage and DO NOT consider 2024 compatibility an “advertised” feature... We will not be accepting customer support tickets in the 2024 environment at this time"

1) Knowing that I'm doing normal operations (no fancy flight, no failures, etc.), short flights (LFPO-LSGG), can I buy now or should I wait a bit? Any heads-up or attention point?

2) I've been away a couple of years but from what I could read, Fenix is the way to go right? Apparently there is no much talk anymore about FS Labs. Looks like they have been surpassed?

No suprise BOB. Like all your posts. If its not PMDG or MSFS2020 its boring and no good! Time to take off the blinders!

  • Fenix is a reliable ship to fly and works fine in 2024.. soon the BFU will make it native to 2024 which will bring many blessings for us! You'll enjoy it even now i think...

Thank you rick for the confirmation.

BUT (!!) ... in the meantime, you could learn the ropes on the (free) Flybywire A320. It's an amazing offering.

Having spent many months with the FBW 320, I think I have the Airbus procedures pretty well set in memory - so I tried the Asobo/Inibuilds A321 and found it much better than expected. If you have 2024 Deluxe, then that's definitely worth a try.

Your main problem will be trying to convert from Boeing procedures if you've spent any time on the 737 etc.

Thank you Adamski_NZ for the alternative and progressive solution. And yead I know it's gonna change from Boeing, that's the purpose 😉

No doubt! I would recommend the Fenix over FSLabs for sure.

I would recommend the Fenix for 2024 over any A320 family of jets. FS labs came late to the show and IMHO offers nothing more than you get from Fenix. Also with Fenix you get 3 models with major updates on the way. My money feels well invested in the Fenix product line.

Do note that they are currently working on the neo varianta. Last they said that it would come out somewhere at the end of this year IIRC.

They may not offer any discounts for those who already own the current CEO variants. So if you have a preferences for NEO, you might wanna wait perhaps?

Since the days of FSX I've been flying Boeing only.

I was also in that situation, and bought the Fenix A320 for MSFS 2020 over a year ago,  I was surprised how complicated I found the airbus compared with the Boeing, gave up on it for a while, probably because I was very comfortable with the Boeing after so many years. I've revisited it recently, and made more progress. There's a lot of automation in the bus, but also a lot steps to learn re the MCDU (airbus version of the FMC).

Visually I don't find the MCDU as clear as the Boeing version, but maybe that's because it's different. Fenix do a great good of integrating Navigraph and Simbrief with the aircraft, the tablet is excellent.

When FBW Airbuses first came out, it wasn't unknown for pilot's to say "What's it doing now?" !

I actually listened to a VAS aviation video last week with a JetBlue A320 being instructed to go-around due spacing issues in New York, given a left turn hdg 130 degrees and a climb to 2000ft, after a couple of miles it hadn't turned, ATC asked why, the pilot responded "We're having an Airbus moment"!

There's loads of great tutorials on YouTube, 320 sim pilot is my favourite.

The Fenix aircraft are amazing and you can’t go wrong.  Lots of us here to help too if you get caught up on the Airbus way of doing things.

I like it very much.

Has been growing in details, accuracy, overall functionality.

It's probably my preferred payware for msfs.

And it's price is also nice 🙂
