May 29, 20251 yr Oh man this looks fantastic.. might be the first ever 3rd party biz jet I buy for MSFS, as I've been quite content with the Citation Longitude which has darn good fidelity for a default bird. Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD

MSFS isn't short of mid-quality, uninspired 4-6 seaters I have the old 210 Turbo for X-Plane 11, and with REP it still functions fine. It's got good speed, high alt, retractable gear, etc. and is much more satisfying than the typical 172. This is one Carenado that ill consider (again)!

Have to agree here. Looks like im going to have to make space for this along with my tubeliners. May 29, 20251 yr I recently got my first Black Square add-on, the Turbine Duke. Between that very satisfying experience and the nearly unique StarShip itself, it's a No Brainer to add this one to the collection, as well. FWIW, have BS commented on whether they were able to take advantage of v2024's new support for non-traditional planform flight models...? Maybe not since this is also a v2020 release, but it'd be cool to know the canards are more than visual. 😎 ETA: the update from BS posted on JustFlight.com indicates there is a "blocking issue" with canard aircraft and the EFB(!). Something related to cargo, W&B... So, not sure if that means a standard planform FM behind the scenes or what... Edited May 29, 20251 yr by UrgentSiesta Updated info

The Starship on the other hand looks to be the absolute antithesis of that and I cannot wait. -Edit- Also worthy of note that the Starship manual is available to download now https://downloads.justflight.com/products/JFF003744/BKSQ_StarshipManual_DRAFT.pdf That's an amazing manual sheeesh! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I'm a fan of the Longitude because of the G5000 plus all the other Hi Fi systems WT put into it (it even simulated hydraulic TEMPS!). It's a HIGHLY under-rated addon. I had been long holding off on any Black Square since I was rather satisfied with the FSR 500 for my turboprop action. And, as much as I love Steam Gauge cockpits for VFR, I LOVE Garmin Gx000's for IFR. That said, my still limited experience with the Turbine Duke has amply shown that the "hype" around Black Square products seems to really be justified. And the flight model, at least on the Duke, which IIRC is their latest bird, seems just as satisfying so far as the FSR. It rides like a Mercedes - solid and oozing class! 🙂
May 29, 20251 yr One tidbit from the manual that I'm really interested in checking out once the Starship is released is the VLF/Omega navigation system, which apparently is realistically simulated, including the ability to deselect stations manually and the simulation of various factors that can degrade navigation accuracy. I think this may be the first time VLF/Omega has been simulated to this level of accuracy, or maybe at all?
May 29, 20251 yr While its not my cup of tea, the feature list is absolutetly stacked. Genuinely excited for those who love these aircraft. I'll keep a look out for a streamer flying this.

I'm not entirely sure what Nick's day job is, but the dude has got some serious engineering chops. The fact he's going after legacy systems like this is simply amazing. He's said a few times that the Starship is his personal passion project and that he's put even more into it than his other highly regarded add-ons. It seems this one is really going to be a treat for anyone who's willing to go a bit deeper than normal. 👍
May 29, 20251 yr Egads its like someone got a deal on small screen 1970s video games and put them where the instruments should be
May 29, 20251 yr Just Flight website shows only 2020 compatible, but the video shows 20 and 24. Anyone know if the 2020 version is being released first, followed by 24, or both at once? Answered: Website now shows 20 and 24 compatibility. From reading the manual (pg. 184) I think it may mean that you can only set W&B for the plane within the custom tablet on '24 and can't use the default EFB screen (which is probably a blessing in disguise)

The cockpit aesthetic is pretty unique - it's Knight Rider's KITT, just that it's an actual aircraft. I believe they call the 757 the Atari Ferrari? Forget it - that moniker ought to belong to the Starship. Edited May 29, 20251 yr by martinboehme
