A2A Aerostar is now available

I haven't flown the plane yet but AIUI, you need to put the flap handle back in the neutral position when the flaps reach the setting you want.

IOW, the flap handle has three positions:

Up: Flaps will continually move up (until they're fully retracted).

Neutral: Flaps will stay where they currently are.

Down: Flaps will continually move down (until they're fully extended).

To set an intermediate flap position, put the handle in "Down" until the flaps reach the required setting, then put the handle back in "Neutral". The Aerostar does not have detents on the flap handle that correspond to specific flap settings.

Many thanks Martin - that has solved my issue. Happy Flying

I haven’t tested the Aerostar in heavy turbulence yet, but it’s on my to-do list. If anything feels off or isn’t behaving as it should, you can expect it to be addressed in the next update or shortly

Turbulence and the Aerostar: feels pretty good to me.  I'm not sure if I've ever flown an Aerostar - seems like I must have at some point - but I've spent too much time in many other similar twins.  Y

But -  I think I just don't like the aircraft.

The interior is ugly (apart from the nice big windows), the sounds are annoying as hell (hopefully they will improve), it feels like a flying whale. Not graceful at all.

All personal opinion of course and as always, your experience may differ. As I said, I will stick with it and my view may well change. I am flying it now.

I was afraid of the interior after watching a video, but I actually like the interior. She does fly very heavy. Not sure about the sound. To little time on it to comment.

Sound like you would really prefer something like the Dukes.

From the sound of your comments, I would check those out if you don't have them already.

Airliners are easy to figure out. You either like new, old or very old.

GA planes are really different. Really is about personal taste. No right or wrong.

Heck, I still fly the Cessna 414 and it is still my favourite GA plane. Not the best one by a mile, but still my favourite to fly.

I have the Dukes, C414, Starship, etc.

I flew the Aerostar this morning with my headphones on - the sound was awful to my ears and this was on my Maxwell's. It was also looping quite a bit so maybe the sound we have is only temporary?

I'm not going to give up on it and as I said, I know it is really good work, but as of today, I don't like it much. I hope it grows on me, I really do.

Mine is actually doing this as well...  It like pops and starts over or skips.

It does. And no mention of it on the known issues list. I will raise it with them.

Well, I hemmed and hawed for about 10 minutes and then bought this last night. It was late so I only took a walk around and did one engine start, no real flying yet. I can see the A2A attention to detail but also it is a little rough around the edges -- likely magnified because of what I am used to in an A2A aircraft. I am happy to support them and look forward to the improvements over the coming months, hopefully version 1 is not too far away.

I agree with the comments about the interior, while maybe realistic it does not entice me to want to fly it. Hopefully they will release a refurbished interior or we will wait for someone to put one on flightsim.to.

Exactly. Really, this interior they have modeled is one of the most worn and dirty ones I have encountered!

Thanks for the feedback regarding the cockpit condition.

The aircraft we modeled is based on the actual Aerostar I owned and operated for several years. Our approach has always been to focus on a single, real-world airplane and recreate it as faithfully as possible, wear and all. This was a "working" airplane for sure.  That said, I completely understand that some users prefer a cleaner, more pristine look, and I’ll speak with our modelers to explore what might be possible in that regard.

This is still a pre-release version, so if you notice anything you'd like to see improved, don’t like, or believe is a bug, please feel free to post here or on our forums. We log all feedback in an internal spreadsheet that we review and work from daily.

Thanks again for your interest and support of the Aerostar.

I like the 'battered' look, so I hope you make any 'pristine' interior optional 🙂

Yes, I would love an option to enable a "new" plane feeling. I buy the plane new, after all.. I'm not buying a plane that is marketed as "used". You are making it match a plane you have, but we users haven't seen that plane, so for me, I buy a new plane which is heavily used.

I would love to have the option to toggle between "factory-new" (as close as possible, doesn't need to be super faithful down to the leather color.. just looks new from factory) and "weathered" which would give you the feeling of a real plane.

I know this is a small thing, but it really does make a difference in my wanting to fly a plane I just bought! The rest of what you do is amazing, so we are down to small nit picks like this 🙂

Personally I prefer a somewhat used plane because ultimately that's the likeliest state you would encounter any in real life.
I don't mean DCS Mig-21 levels of wear, where it felt like you'd need a tetanus shot just sitting in that cockpit. Although I'd say part of why that plane was so immersive is due to that mess of a cockpit. It's a plane that wants to kill you, and it looks like it from the inside.

Even airliners on the line with the best maintenance will have signs of wear – scuffed arm rests, worn edges here and there, and marks of frequent use on switches.

I'd argue factory-new add ons actually end up with plasticky looking cockpits. Case in point – the PMDG 737 cockpit that just didn't feel like there was texture or detail to it. I like the FSR500, but it just doesn't have an immersive cockpit precisely because it feels like it just came off the factory line.

Counterpoint to all that is Fenix – it looks clean, but it feels lived-in if you pay attention to details, there's so much texture to it.

I guess an option that would satisfy everyone would be to reflect the state of the plane in the sim. You know how you can have new/used/auction – that shouldn't just reflect the inner components, but visuals too.

Yes, a little bit of wear is fine - like the plane has maybe been used for six months or so. Still newish, but not brand new. but not 20+years old.
