Have you tried using AutoFPS?  maybe you need to load the 5090 up more?

Already run OLOD minimum 200 and 200-700 TLOD 🤣

  • Wow. You've just saved me a ton of money 😀

  • Isn't that a sim issue?  You're not running out of VRAM, you're just experiencing the annoying over-aggressive LOD issues in 2024. I actually run out of vram from time to time on my RTX 4080 (16G

I keep my OLOD and TLOD at 200 and my vram usage runs around 90% sometimes higher. I can fly Fenix PMDG and A350 without issues. Using also AIG, AS, dual monitors. I'm not running a $2000 video card and see no reason to swap out what I use. I found out it's all about how you configure your system and Sim makes all the difference.

It makes me wonder just how efficient DX12 really is......

It is extremely efficient. But it forces developers to stop using shortcuts and utilize it correctly.

I've never seen more than 22GB VRAM used at 4k resolution in the 3 months since I upgraded to a 5090.

But the nose landing gear of AI aircraft 10 meters in front of me is still missing. Wondering how that mess got released last year and still hasn't been fixed til now.

I have to say MSFS2024 is disappointing me greatly as I'm suffering horrible VRAM problems.

The sim is unloading models and textures when I pan away from them.  It's using 18Gb of my 32Gb VRAM.

Now I'm sure this is a problem lots of people would like to have, but please Asobo, where VRAM ISN'T an issue and there's lots of it to spare, can you fix it so model LODs/textures aren't culled please?

Turn off ReBar. I haven't seen a VRAM error since.

I'm slightly disappointed that despite @SayAgain very clearly identifying the subject matter of my post and me agreeing with it, people are still not reading what the nature of the issue at hand is 🤣  come on Avsim...

I think the issue is simply no one cares except perhaps others with $2000.00 5090's who wish to see most of their VRAM used up because they have spare capacity. Ive seen exactly 2 complaints about  VRAM not being used up enough for msfs2024 on Avsim... including yours.  Most people are on the direct opposite end of the spectrum. So to come on here proclaiming that your 32gb of VRAM isnt being used up for the sim... hmm sure.. ok ... i guess send your zendesk ticket in ?

My 3060ti 8gb runs 60-70 % VRAM but higher at KSFO.

Also keeping my textures @ Medium.

Sounds like we are having the same issue, which @SayAgain seems to describe in more technical detail. All textures were basically unloading and if I had a stagnant view for 10-15 seconds and then looked elsewhere, it would have to reload all of the textures. RdrThread would get hammered and FPS would drop to 20-30 for 3-5 seconds until everything was loaded again and my FPS would return.

Are you running the beta? If so, opt out and see if it is fixed. 9800x3d/4090 here and it seems to be a pretty common issue with similar hardware and the beta update last week. I have yet to try the update today but I got fed up and reverted to SU2 over the weekend and it fixed my issue.

Thing is no one has to care what your feelings are nor what SayAgain's technical expertise is pertaining to your thread looking for help.

The vague incorrect assumptions and posts made here were simply fellow compassionate users trying offer a bit of general support.

No one here is asking for a VRAM class nor any sort of debate, YOU made a thread asking for help/advice HERE instead of Zendesk.

Let's stay humble and most of all grateful anyone bothered to reply💡

I'm just say'n the VRAM conspiricy is just another way to sell more hardware.  It's the flight Sim way.

If VRAM was not an issue in 2024 then I would be surprised.

Yeah but still.  😃

99.9% of people who see your thread title are going to think it's a vram starvation thread.   I wouldn't be disappointed.  It's how human brains work, glossing over important details if its something we think we already know.  It's a good survival mechanism in a way, to allow us to skip over seemingly (!) unimportant details to act on what appears to be most important.

Well to be fair your Post Subject says 5090 with VRAM issues when the real issue is the degraded LOD popping that everyone gets regardless of GPU.

So your thread title isn't an accurate description of your issue.

I also thought it was about a 5090 somehow being VRAM saturated which concerned me as I just installed one LOL  But alas it's about the core sim's deficiencies which are no secret.

Yes, but I think SU3 fixed this?  I don’t have SU3 installed so I really don’t know, haven’t had time to run two different user accounts for MSFS 2024 Beta and non-Beta.

I did get a VRAM exhaustion message in SU2 while I was testing with my AMD 9070XT, which was unexpected but sorta a pleasant surprise … all 16GB VRAM was consumed.  VRAM (even DDR7) isn’t that expensive, it should be affordable to all level of GPUs.  IMHO, it’s pure greed that is inflating prices of GPUs with more VRAM … the 3GB Samsung DDR7 modules used are about $10 each and the PCB in most cases is already setup to support more VRAM and the power requirement for more VRAM are insignificant.  Capitalism at it’s finest 😉

But as I pointed out in another thread I did use 30GB VRAM so MSFS 2024 does seem to be using it … but that does beg the question, how much more VRAM will SU3 use IF we have more control over the texture swapping LOD and shadow LOD … I can visualize going over 32GB VRAM usage.  Which to be honest I hope MS/Asobo do allow (hardware eventually catches up and eventually gets more affordable to appeal to a larger market).

Any SU3 Beta users to chime in that this was fixed/addressed?  I heard that it was but have also heard that it wasn’t from different SU3 Beta users.
