  • You can rent it for a day for free.  Click on the plane and then click Free Trial.  You actually have to click on the little icon of the plane as if you were going to buy it. I'm actually pleasan

  • Nice, but after watching this, I can't help but think JustFlight need to update the HS748 and get that out of the door.

  • Better than none.

Yes, maybe. I flew the YS-11 countless of hours when running FSX and P3D. It's a nice old plane.

Cheers, Ed

It's not really my style of plane... but it's pretty good...  It's kinda growing on me.  With some US regional paints I'd consider it.  I think it's a little more than 13 USD for me since I already own PD.

The GNS430 IS working... I just had to reload the sim...  I've seen that with a few addons.  Something with streaming maybe?

I need a manual hehe...

If you want to tune a VOR use the clunker knobs on the pedestal and NOT the GNS.  I was trying to figure out why I wasn't getting a signal...  that's why.

EDIT:  Holy cow it supports PMS/TDS GTN 650/650Xi and charts and sim brief integration!!  Also has a basic but functional Autopilot

So is that a "yes" for approx. $13?

Wow a YS-11!  How cool!  Did we know about this?   Or was it a super secret like they usually are?

Not something I am interested in at the moment but it sounds promising. From what I have read on the forums about the other twin turbo prop liners ie the ATR, 340, ES30, all have problems. Perhaps this will be the best choice for people who want that sort of aircraft.

I've always had a soft spot for the YS-11, and for $20 CAD, why not. Currently doing a domestic Japan flight to one of the new airports from Naha.  So far so good.

As an ex HS748 driver this interest me but I can’t help thinking I’ll be slightly disappointed it’s so near to a 748 but not quite there.

This and the world update were surprises.

However in July the new Japan photogrammetry was accidentally enabled one weekend, so there was some hint that at least a World or City update was coming.

I just flew it, and so far, the plane is gentle and does not have any apparent quirks. I have not tested the autopilot, but the reverse thrusters appear to work well. Instruments, for an old guy like me, are a bit on the smallish side, but nothing that Chase Plane cannot fix. The choices of GPS are very nice. Nice place for nostalgia purposes and freight dogging.

I have a couple hours to go before I can try this plane myself to see if this comment is accurate, but this seems like an accuracy concern. RR Darts do not have a reverse or beta function. I'm simply going to copy and paste a comment from another forum from years ago which explains how the engines *should* work:

Rolls Royce Dart engines only have Ground Fine Pitch. This isn't Beta as there is no control of blade angle. A solenoid operated stop in the prop hub limits minimum blade angle for flight operation. That blade angle is too coarse for ground idle operation and would cause the engine to bog down and overtemp at very low speed or a stationary aircraft.

After touchdown, the pilot activates a control to select Ground Fine and this removes the pitch lock and allows the prop to assume a zero blade angle to reduce the load on the engine. This also allows some aerodynamic drag if the ground speed is still high. In actuality, the pilot will increase the RPM of the engine after selecting Ground Fine in order to increase that drag.

The propeller remains in the Ground Fine mode after shutdown and for the subsequent start to reduce drag and facilitate starting. During takeoff, as power is increased and airspeed increases, the blades take bigger and bigger bites at the air and increase the blade angle. Once passed the Ground Fine value, that pitch stop is engaged.

Interesting. In fact, the throttle image in the sim does not have a "beta" section. When I was calibrating the throttles, I noticed that both engines go into beta, thus slowing the aircraft. The spot view HUD also confirms this. Based on your information, therefore, I suspect that Inibuild applied a generic "turbo" solution to this aircraft. The low price tag is always a good indicator of fidelity or lack thereof.

That said, most of my flying is in smallish airports, and the reversers sure help fly this aircraft into smaller fields.
