A bit like telling PMDG haters to stay out of PMDG threads

For the heli experts, looking forward to your reviews/takes on this Taog Huey, and its fidelity.

Regardless of the Stranger Things DLC and missions etc and whether one cares for them or not, the fact that we get a 2024 native heli from Taog is surely goodness.

Nope. Not engaging to drive down discourse.

The Taog Huey payware is one of the best choppers in MSFS, so if this version is anywhere near as good, that’s a very nice freebie.

I have not flown this particular one, but Taog is simply one of (if not the) best helicopter maker out there.  Their 2024 native M500C is fantastic, and I have flown their 2020 Huey in 2024 and it is also very good.

I am not a real world pilot, but I know real world heli pilots who praise Taog's helicopters for their realistic flight dynamics.

Assuming this is an update to their 2020 Huey, that's a big, big win.  Again I have not tried this yet, so there's always a chance it is dumbed down or something, but I kind of doubt it from this developer.

Not usually into the these tie ups but this one actually looks interesting! Hopefully actually doing the activities live up to the marketing video.

Quick update on the Huey, there's a discussion going on at Taog's discord and basically, the Huey was "taken over" by MS (coming from the developer).  I have not tried it yet, but it sounds like it was updated by MS and not the original developer.  The original developer is being kind of vague about it and still saying the 2020 Huey is for sale still (separately) and that there might be updates to it for 2024 at some point.

People have noticed the tablet and gps are gone (removing the gps kind of makes sense if you're going for an 80s timeframe).  I'm not sure how "dumbed down" this is, but it doesn't sound like we're getting a free Taog aircraft.

It'll be the same when we eventually get the Blackbird T38C I'm sure.

FWIW, this is what Taog himself said on https://discord.com/channels/1035835002245619712/1036207286831566958
Now the Huey that was release today is fully free for all users
however it is coming with a lot of differences from the original Huey, as it was taken over from me by Microsoft
So you might find that some features from the 2020 Taog's Hangar Huey are not there anymore in the 2024 Free version

I am happy it's finally out there in the public, been working on this for MONTHS

Sounds like Asobo did the work to make the 2020 Taogo Huey 2024 native along with Taog himself?, and also not all the features in the 2020 payware version are included like the EFB, PMS GTN, etc (expectedly).

Some of the users who've chimed in on that discord channel seem to like it so far, FWIW:
"pretty sick huey for free i must say."

"to be fair, for a freeware product, it's very good ! But (for me at least) i will continue to fly with the payware version. But this is just an opinion, and as i said the new native version is very good"

"I tested the new UH 1 helicopter. There are simply no words for it! This is a premium quality product! Very great visual experience, sharp textures, wonderful rounded edges, good sound effects. Thank you very much for this! The best of all Taog products. To be honest, I bought the UH 1 helicopter when it was released on flightsim. I didn't like it, it had a lot of visual errors, texture errors, angular elements, etc... I asked for a refund then. Now I looked at the new version out of curiosity, it is wonderful, impressive! I am very grateful to Taog for your work. Simply wonderful! I hope all helicopters will be of this quality in the future!"

I find the new one a bit easier and good-natured to fly.

So, in the end, this release satisfies all:

Payware TAOG customers do have some exlusive features left:
(hula girl, GPS, TAOG EFB with huge amount of optical settings, failures)

Freeware user do now also have a good huey
