I just checked my posting history here, and I've made exactly two prior comments about this issue, both in response to a user who incorrectly believed that footage shown in the pre-recorded loading screen video represents the current build of the sim (it does not; that footage was captured and the intro video edited together months before MSFS 2024 shipped). I wrote the following two posts about this topic:Post #1:"The footage in the intro video was recorded using a pre-launch WIP version of MSFS 2024 prior to v1.0 shipping in November 2024. I believe the team made changes to make landing gear LOD culling less aggressive in a subsequent Sim Update (I want to say it was SU4, but I'm not 100% sure about that). If you have video or screenshots of stock first party aircraft exhibiting this behavior in the current live SU5 build, please let us know!"Post #2:"For clarification, there should have been no changes to landing gear LOD culling of AI aircraft between SU4 and SU5. This was adjusted in a previous Sim Update (again, I think it was SU4, but I'm not 100% sure about that and it might have been an earlier SU). The intro video was made at least two years ago using a pre-release WIP build of MSFS 2024 and does not reflect the current release state, so any footage you see in that video is not applicable to the current version of the sim. If you're seeing overly aggressive LOD culling for landing gear on any first-party stock aircraft while in a flight session in SU5, please let us know and be sure to mention which specific aircraft type(s) you're seeing this with."In neither of those posts did I say that landing gear culling never occurs anymore under any circumstances. What I actually said is that in a prior Sim Update the culling system was made less aggressive than it was previously so the issue should be improved compared to what it was before. I didn't say it was eliminated entirely. Thanks,SeedyL, Microsoft Flight Simulator Community Manager
July 23Jul 23 In my opinion, it has gotten worse in SU6 compared to SU5—and it was already bad in SU5. It’s just a shame that this problem hasn't been resolved in a year and a half Edited July 23Jul 23 by BU830
July 23Jul 23 As far as I am concerned, absolutely nothing has been done to rectify the "AI landing gear disappearing" problem since I purchased MSFS 2024 in December last year, and the same problem was evident in MSFS 2020 from the time that I purchased it in November 2023 up to the point where I switched to MSFS 2024. Asking for evidence of this is baffling. It is plainly obvious to see for anyone who uses either simulator. I'd be willing to demonstrate and work with the Devs if they want to make a serious attempt to tackle it. I was under the impression that @Kaiii3 and AIG had some dialog earlier this year but that doesn't seem to have resulted in any steps forward sadly. I just don't really understand how the engine culls individual sub parts seemingly by itself. I'd be happy to learn though. But if kaii and AIG can't figure out what of anything needs to be done e to models to make them work, I don't hold out much hope for divvy me! July 24Jul 24 It isn't just this LOD issue. The kludge you get when changing views from cockpit to outside and back again is terrible, and I think this is a LOD issue as well, as the cockpit gradually renders in (worse with steam gauges). This is worse to me that the landing gear issue, as I can turn traffic off, but not my cockpit! The SU6 release notes said they were attending to aggressive LOD culling. With SU6 and the update afterwards, I see no changes - just as bad.I just don't think they know what to do, or don't care as it has been done for the console crowd to give them better performance.I't alright though. I just respond in kind. I barely fly in the sim anymore due to the issues, and my marketplace purchases have dropped to zero. The 'other sim' and IL-2 Korea early access can keep me happy if MS / Asobo aren't bothered. I'm pretty sure that the conversion team at AIG have looked at everything they can on their end. It also didn't used to be this bad, Asobo reduced the lod distance to improve performance for the console users. They could fix it near instantly if pushed hard enough. i7-13700KF, 64gb DDR5 6000, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
