That is something I've NEVER seen before! 🙂

X-Plane 12.4b + Orbx TrueEarth Great Britain South over London downtown + Zibo 4K @ 2560x1080

Max World Objects, Max Vegetation, Max Rendering Distance!

No, the frame rate isn't fantastic, but it's actually flyable!

When I've tried anything close to this before, i was down in single digit FPS slide shows.

KUDOS to all the folks at Laminar! 🙏

System error... Compliment detected

Only a serious note, glad you're enjoying it. Would be interesting to know why the CPU time is still a tad higher. May AA or just facades slowing it down for some reason. Try and do a trace for us (instrucitons on the bug reporter site)

  • I've seen a substantial increase in FPS from the scenery changes in this, especially on large scenery areas.

  • Well what a nice surprise. Christmas has come a little early today even if its beta. 😁

wrong simulator 🤣

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

I run a full flightdeck solutions 737 dual trainer, I have no use for the 3D flight deck nor is the capt. view good when running three 75" monitors for a complete 180 degree view.

Ah got it now. Yeah, then that makes sense.

i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM

Manages to solve EGLC Orbx issue, but not  EGLL issue.  Performance is extremely good even with Orbx GB London maxed out setting and still 50-60 FPS.  CPU wasn’t doing much work, but GPU was. VRAM about what I expected at 21-22GB.

Weather rendering was very accurate:

Wow!  Have to love that weather rendering !!!

And that performance too !!! Even in my mild / "old" GPU, a 3060Ti I bought in 2021, the increase in performance is rather noticeable.

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Agree, I didn’t see any weird looking clouds in this build, super accurate rendering of weather.

Motivated me to buy more XP scenery/airports/aircraft … I’m not an OrthoXP guy … nor AutoOrthoXP … too much work and terrain textures just not great at low altitudes.

EDIT: and no fake frames were used in the making of this video 😉

and no information about resolution either

Well the video is 2160-60 (seems to be the resolution YT do for native was 3440 x 1440 60) ... so not exactly no information.

Overall the weather is superb, but there are several weird problems with cloud rendering that remain in this version.

CPU Ryzen 7800X 3D  RAM 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz GPU GEFORCE RTX 4090
Monitor AOC AGON AG352UCG UltraWide G-Sync @ 3440x1440
Internal Storage 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD
External Storage Three 4Tb HDs

Tried FF A350, performance still excellent at EGLL with Orbx GB 50-60 fps … however took a big hit in FPS at night 18-40 … need to test night at more locations.

Whenever you "take a big hit at night" you are running into a situation of being limited by the power of your GPU - at night it has to calculate all the effects of the dynamic lights, and that happens on a "per pixel" basis, so the more pixels you try to render, the worse this effect is.

Pixel number goes up with your resolution...like running a 4K instead of HD, or having "multiple monitors" - but it also increases linearly with the level of MSAA you run!

So the first step to combat that is to reduce the MSAA setting, run at a lower resolution (4k -> HD) or buy a more potent GPU.

To be noted, this is basically a scenery processing mutithread nothing else,

Yes I know how to tune performance (software engineer 40+ years).  Just making an observation, not really looking for a solution … nVidia 5090 GPU.  Lighting performance will have a varying impact pending where it happens in the graphics pipeline … forward rendering vs deferred rending (reduces draw calls) or a hybrid … deferred rending performs better with many lights so XP12 is likely implementing forward rendering (fps hit due to light pass) or maybe hybrid.

Yes - and it works rather well so far, particularly for such a leap in capability.

So far most of my addons are functioning properly, too.

Considering this is Beta ONE for MP, it's rather amazing to have doubled my FPS on the same hardware, AND to be able to run very high settings over extremely dense terrain.

Or did I miss the point of all these improvements right out of the gate...?

I believe it is the shadow changes that fixed things mostly for me. I could not run shadows before, now? No problem. All scenery and plugins and I now have 30 FPS most places with 3 monitors! It is truly game-changing.

EDIT: I also upped my shadows to 4096 in settings.txt to smooth out the cockpit shadowing. Couldn't do that before either.
