That panel was a missed opportunity for a GFC500 haha!

Agree with Urgent above.  In the first place, there's nothing at all wrong with the roll behavior when banging the yoke to the limit - that's exactly what a light airplane does.  I hate to say it, but

  • Again with the toys.  Don't want 'em?  Not appropriate for your missions?  No worries - don't use them, but that doesn't change what others are doing in the real world in many situations.  Such "toys"

$449,000 … it was in good condition but the argument that old tech is better than new tech is frankly rubbish with ZERO supporting evidence

I have flown most GA engines available.

Rotax, Lycomings (carb and injection), Thielert and Austro diesels/JET A.

Lycomings are probably my preferred choice.

I know several owners of Diamond aircraft. Their headache start little before 2000hrs of engine runtime .

Yes the same amount of hours where a Lycoming typically needs overhaul (TBO) But Diamond engines are Time -before-remove (TBR).

So even if your Mercedes diesel (that's basically what they are) is purring just fine, you still need to remove it and send it to Diamond and buy a shiny new one.

One reason why old tech is better (for your wallet).

Hm, good catch! I suspect the airspeed indicator might actually be nontrivial (from a regulatory point of view) to exchange for one that reads in knots, because all of the speeds in the manual are given in mph?

DM me if interested.

Requires TDS GTNxi or (experimental) GNS only at the moment.  Also requires the Flysimware C24R Sierra.  The G5 is a mod originally from Les O Reilly and then modded again by TimHH!

Can someone please answer me this simple question, with the new native version, can we still do the walk around via the tablet like the 2020 version in addition to doing it the new way?

Edit: Nevermind I found a screenshot of the tablet and the walk around tab is missing. I'll be staying with the original version. I really would only like the ability to open the door from the outside and be able to get the plane dirty and clean it. Everything else of the new version doesnt interest me. Not to di the new version, just a simple statement of support on how well the original was made.

Rather, my comments are observations about fitting an older aircraft with what I consider anachronistic and frankly, somewhat ridiculous, modern gadgets.

There is no one owning and flying an aircraft like a Comanche 250 today who doesn't have a certified GPS system in the panel, unless they fly VFR only.  Anyone using this kind of aircraft as a hard IFR platform in the modern world (and there are many people doing so) has at least one if not two certified GPS systems, and most likely some drop-in redundant glass like a G5.

That's not using "anachronistic" or "ridiculous" devices, that's taking advantage of a level of safety, redundancy, and capability we would have KILLED for back when I was stuck flying cancelled checks night IFR in piston singles like this.

The good old days are rarely as good as those rose-colored glasses make them seem.  😉

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

I feel free to express my criticism regarding this approach to “flying” a classic airplane with GPS systems that can sometimes cost more than the aircraft itself. In my view, this detracts from the authenticity of the simulation experience.

Just browse the internet for panel shots of your average singe engine piston aircraft and you'll be surprised how many pictures you'll find of aircraft, also in Europe, retrofitted with modern instrumentation, as in the example posted above. So how can adding them to the sim detract from the authenticity of the simulation experience? I think the way we can configure the Comanche is extremely close to reality!

My passion lies in flight simulation, not in what I would call “flight dreaming". It is my opinion that developers, as often seen in the flight simulation community, sometimes prioritize financially driven, unrealistic options over genuine realism (improving the flight model, could be the right thing, but it requires more time than to add the GPS toys).

My passion lies in realism and accurate flight simulation too! But, unlike you, I wish there were more small, older aircraft available with retrofitted modern panels. We often have the option to add a GNS 530 or GTN 750, sometimes paired with a GNS 430 or GTN 650. But they are then the only modern avionics in the panel. In real life (again, browse the internet for panel shots) these units are often combined with upgraded 'six packs', which we hardly find in addons for MSFS (2024). Apart from the A2A Comanche now. Also, the Flysimware Sierra offers excellent options.

I do agree with you though, that seeing an ancient Cessna 152 or Piper Warrior with an option to only add a GTN 750, like some developers did, is a little bit over the top. A GTN 650 might suit more.

Nevertheless, I agree with many here; to call modern avionics 'toys' or 'gadgets' is just plain silly (although, in hindsight, a pilot in the fifties may have called that silly VOR gauge on his panel a 'gadget' as well). They are what's called progress. Many real world owners of small to medium private planes understand this. One of the main reasons why has already been mentioned above: safety! And again, also in Europe. And also when flying only VFR.

Above all else though, I'd like to remind our friend @Claudius_ that the A2A Comanche provides the option to fly with no GPS or modern avionics.  It's right there in the tablet.  Choose the "Radios only" option and you have no modern instruments.  Just old radios, although you cannot get rid of the STEC-30 autopilot 😊

I have great appreciation for both A2A and Black Square to offer a vast selection of radios/GPS/AP options for the small single/multi addons. Personally, I outfitted my sim with a Real Sim Gear 430 which I use also as the KLN-90B since its the same layout. I'm about to go on a 3 month tour of Oz using the Baron and Comanche and I know I'll be using the KLN-90B in the Comanche but think for the Baron it will be the 430 and just let the RSG 750 that I have be an extra screen. I like flying old school.

Does anyone know how to make the pilot visible in the cockpit when in outside view? I have looked through the A2A Comanche manual AND the MSFS2024 Comanche addendum, and I cannot see anything related. I have also searched the A2A forums and cannot find anything.

I think making the pilot (and co-pilot) visible can only be done by customising your identity from the standard MFSF Profile menu.

I thought of that as well and which I have done to no effect. Also, it is not just the Comanche. It appears to be default aircraft too. I know my pilot used to show from outside, but not sure when this problem started.

At any rate, it is not a Comanche problem, but something more MSFS 2024 related.

Strange.  Why would you use a high performance complex aircraft as a VFR sight seeing platform?  These aircraft were designed to travel, and you can't practically travel very far or very reliably if you're VFR only.  Seems like VFR-only types would be better off with a slower, simpler, and more fun aircraft.

I don't personally fly single engine IMC anymore, I stopped that many years ago after really evaluating the risks.  Flying with the redundancy of multiple turbines for a few decades will make you reevaluate such things 😉.  But it is a lot of fun to use the sim to re-create the old GA IFR days I remember, as well as the modern GA IFR experience I choose to avoid in reality!  A2A has done a very good job giving us all of these options, it's certainly not something to criticize.

Unless I have misunderstood the comment:

Native MSFS 2024 version: It has always been visible here as are the passengers:
