what is it that makes the Baron and KingAir so irresistible. don't tell me reliability, usability etc.

looks don't count?

Our age maybe. I grew up thinking the Bonanza Baron were the greatest and the King Air was like magical.

I feel like every post about Carenado becomes a promotion for Black Sqaure. 😀

I won't by another Caranado aircraft until they either allow editing of their aircraft or remember to off the switch that disables 'AI usable' in the sim.  I don't want to see their aircraft all over the ramp killing in sim performance.😣

Not sure if this is an issue in 2024 with their products...

Black Square have ruined every other turboprop for me, so I think I'll wait for their King Air.

Cessna and Piper are just as old. there must be something else.

Our age, not the planes. When I as young I could care less about the Cessna s or the Pipers.

All I cared about was the Bonanza and the Barons. The King Air was a God like airplane.

There are times reading some of the posts in the forums here that remind me of the music press in the 1970s. People deciding some bands are "cool" and some are unacceptable, often based on nothing rational at all. And I'm fairly sure that more than a few of the hip young critters that scoffed at the likes of ABBA are now happy to groove along to their ABBA gold CD now in their trodden down slippers on a Sunday morning.

As for Carenado, and indeed Captain Sim, all I can say is "gimme, gimme, gimme"

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

That is hardly a fair statement relative to this vendor.  Like many others posting here, I've purchased my fair share of Carenado planes, and I've done so knowing that they're "light" from a systems perspective.  In other words, my expectations are not that they're going to be A2A or Black Square level.  What I, and many others, object to is the outright bugs and flight issues that never get fixed, and in the case of Marketplace versions, can't reasonably BE fixed by the community as happened for so long.

If these things don't bother you or you simply disagree, fine - I've no quarrel with you whatsoever.  But implying these objections are due to people wanting to dis Carenado based on some irrational "coolness" factor is ridiculous.  For most of us, the objections are based on long and repeated frustrations and experience.  I WANT to like their planes as they're usually visually stunning, but - "Fool me once..." and all that.

But for the record - I still don't like ABBA. 🙂

2 random thoughts, sort of on topic -

1) It feels like Carenado aircraft are easier on FPS/main thread than some others (but haven’t actually proved this)

2) This 1975 build date flight simmer somehow didn’t realize until this thread that there is a King Air A100?!

That screams “old” and “cool” all at once.

Found it when seeing what retro schemes for the 200 @ryanbatc might craft.

Well, I wouldn't say I rave about them but I no longer lunge for the "off" button when they come on <grin>

It's not even that their systems are light, it's more that even stuff that's supposed to work doesn't e.g. their B200 (IIRC) had gear indicator lights that didn't work. When they can't  even manage an unambitious level of fidelity such as functioning gear indicator lights...

Regarding ABBA I like some of their stuff but also can't stand some of it. As I've got older I've got less into bands and more into tracks, giving me a music collection with bits of everything from Alphaville to Zeppelin.  It's been decades since I listened to an album. 🙂

@ryanbatc: Thanks for the news update…will look forward to it…

I got my first Carenado when they were giving away free (single-prop) GA a/c in my early (or pre?) FS9 days, along with other (payware) scenery packages. The last Carenado, I bought, was the (MSFS2024) native B390 1A.

And, on the topic of music, earlier this week, I heard “Manic Monday” (1986) in the local Coffee store, and it reminded me of old times so much that I picked up a CD of it, from the Half Price Books and Music store, the next day…🙂

Cheers… and happy flying…!

Is Black Square actually doing a King Air for 2024?  I passed on their 2020 rendition because they were using analogue gauges in the default 350i airframe.

This one just might bring back a few old Carenado fans. Just for old times sake!

She sure does look pretty.

Hopefully Black Square gets their act together and deliver the Caravan first.

That way I will be to busy to notice when it comes out.
