There’s not enough “serious” helos in MSFS…

It ain’t pretty, but if it runs and flies right, they’ll have my full support 😁👍

“[developed to] the highest flight simulation standards, providing a study-level experience with a fully clickable cockpit, realistic system simulations, and authentic flight procedures.”

A manual based on official documentation, including detailed descriptions of flight procedures and real-life checklists

The flight dynamics have been tuned according to the flight manual specifications, with custom elements like pitch control, engine management, and autorotation, going beyond the default simulation. Real-world Mil Mi-2 pilots were involved.

The audio has been recorded directly from a real Mil Mi-2 helicopter, and all animated components, systems, equipment, and engines have realistic and dynamic sounds.”

I've been having a ball with the TOAG Hughes 500.  About as close to a study level helicopter that you'll get.

I’ve been following them on discord since they made their existence known. Some very impressive screenshots and their systems and sound implementation sounds top notch. Real pilots involved, they recorded a real helo themselves, flight dynamics partially run external to sim and partially internal, etc etc.

The release date is due to be announced tomorrow and will occur sometime this month, and will be via Simmarket initially and 2020 only. 2024 to follow. If I recall correctly they applied to be a marketplace provider in MSFS a year or more ago but no progress getting approval (an issue I’ve heard from other devs as well).

Yes, this is inexcusable and something that they really need to sort out. One year! What a joke.

Cheers

Oh and this heli addon looks super nice.  The modeling and texuring of the attitude indicator alone looks incredible!

2020 only for now, but a 2024 version some time later.

2024 is so much better for helos

Suprised they worked it for 2020. Makes me worry how well it will port to 2024.

Looks promising though

MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

I had forgotten about the standard hospital-green color on a lot of soviet aircraft panels - she looks the part for sure. This one should be interesting. Surprised but happy to see a new helo for msfs2020.

I may move to 2024 this year as I have to get a new PC to use Win 11. Anyone have any thoughts on pros/cons of helos between the two versions?

Yeah, that’s definitely a gating factor for me. But they’ve got a powerful incentive to do the upgrade, so hopefully it’ll come sooner rather than later!

The color takes a bit of getting used to, but it quickly becomes comfortable 🙂

So far, I generally prefer the helo physics in 2024. By which I mean I’ve had absolutely no inclination to return to v2020 just to fly any of the helos I have there.

Probably the safest comparison would be between the two Cabri addons, since we know Asobo uses them as their reference models, and so they’ve both been updated for each sim.

But, yeah, I’m so satisfied with the Taogs OH-6 that I barely fly anything else! REALLY looking forward to  his pending Daufin - that could become my Hapoy Place 😎

Wow, nice 👌

This is an absolutely iconic helicopter if you're from the Northern Caucasus thanks to one of the best soviet aviation movies ever made:

Bonus fact - my parents called me Mimino growing up because I was 1) obsessed with the movie and the little helicopter, and 2) looked like a miniature version of the main character (sans the amazing moustache).

I remember the Mi-2 from the last scene in the Bond movie For Your Eyes Only

The end scene where the Russian General flies in on the Mi-2 to get the ATAC (the little targeting computer from the Royal Navy spy ship) and then laughs heartily as Bond throws it onto the rocks and says, "You don't have it.  I don't have it." or something like that.

This is due to be released on Simmarket on 23 April. Price to be announced. 2024 version later in the year with new features and tech based on community feedback of 2020 version.
