FS2024 long loading time with AIG models for PSXT

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been using PSXT/RT for ages, mostly together with the AIG models. It works all fine, but the FS2024 loading times kept growing and are not several minutes (at the ~85% bar). Deactivating addons using the Addons Linker doesn't help.

I found the culprit to be the 4 AIG folders always active as I always use them (for PSXT). These amount to fat 80 GBs (my main memory is 32 GB). After shifting them out of /Community, FS2024 starts quickly within less than a minute.

This raises a few questions:

(i) Am I the only one with this issue? I didn't find anything related on the AIG forum.

(ii) Should I switch to other models (FSTL?). Although I keep reading the AIG models are the best ones.

(iii) Any other suggestions to proceed?

Thanks for any help and kind regards,

Michael

I have both the full AIG and FSLTL library (absolutely everything) installed and yes, loading time is forever, around 5-6 minutes into the main menue. But I dont care, usually fire up the sim and do something else quickly...

Which four folders? I only have three.

The large one is 53 GB on my machine, I don't get exceptional long loading times.

Hi,

Maybe you only installed a subset of the AIG models? I didn't measure, but @AnkH's number seems pretty close  to mine.

Kind regards, Michael

Hi,

I don't have the  aig-aitraffic-effects_CVT_ folder. Do you what it is good for? What's the size?

I thought I installed all there was, but I'll check later!

Regards

Confirm.

I've installed all the AIG models and all the flightplans.

Loading time around 5-6 minutes now.

Not bothered by this at all.

Do my dishes in the mean time.

(i)  any sizable increase in your simobjects collection will increase your load times. It's been like this since AI became a thing over 20 years ago. You only notice it more with AIG because of the shear number of liveries.

(ii) by all means using FSLTL will decrease your load times, but back to above it's because it has 20% of the liveries.

(iii) Ensure that your AIG collection is on a fast drive. I have nearly all of AIG as well as double that in custom liveries and my 2024 only takes around 3-4 mins to start. IMO, it's well worth the short wait.

Thanks for all your feedback, guys.

I understand what I see is sort of normal. All my flightsim files live on a WD 4TB m.2 NVMe SSD so this shouldn't be the bottleneck. I just wanted to make sure it's not only me and I can live with the few minutes (yes, it's perhaps 3-4) and will stay with the AIG models. I'm not inclined to reduce the number of liveries just for a gain of perhaps 30 s.

Kind regards, Michael

I'm really curious about the aig-aitraffic-effects_CVT_ , what is it? I don't have that one in my AIG install.

I'm not in front of my computer, but if I remember it took about a minute in a half to load without add-ons and about two minutes to load to the main menu with all my add-on and my AIG fleet (1800 FPs.)

I just checked my community folder and the file is indeed there.. its about 5.33 MB on the drive... from what i can see its the lights and tyre smoke effects etc that the traffic use... i didn't specifically install this... it came with the original installation...

My loading time with that 53 GB AIG folder was exactly 2.5 minutes. So that seems to agree with your loading time.

If I am not entirlely wrong, those CVT folders appear as soon as you have one model in your AIG library, that is not fully MSFS SDK compliant, e.g. a converted old P3D model. If you do not have a CVT folder, you simply dont have such a model in the library. People with a full install have it. But I am no expert, @Kaiii3 could answer this better.

I have the entire AIG model database installed on my PC (46GB), and my load time to the main menu is around 1.5 minutes.
