Info contained being waffle. We've still got quite a bit of XP12 yet! Quite honestly, I think it's already the "best value" X-Plane we've ever seen in our lifetime. 😊Not to mention "13" is a bad number ... I think XP12 is reasonably stable and I would presume will thus remain the Laminar Simulator standard- it has been enhanced considerably with light, weather, graphics upgrades not to mention continuous improvement in the scenery via the Gateway. They might run on with more beta updates close to say 12.8 or something - who knows? The program runs pretty strongly with a Linux dist - cinammon mint. So I find that it Will load from start of the program exec to menu in 30 secs - and then set up a situation (model. location, time) within 2 mins or 120 secs. Very impressive! If you were after a core simulator point then stable and fast is it. All break events are a result of dodgy plugins not Laminar. The Icon-texture preferences engine is still a WIP!I would just call it XP12 - Done Might take a bit for some who like to do stuff to only work with XP12.LR needs cash to survive, and only iterative versions are going to give it to them. So barring some major biz model change, XP 13 is definitely on their roadmap.
Wednesday at 05:20 PM4 days Obviously it's up to LR when to change the evolving name from 12 to whatever in order to re-fill the coffers. Can't expect them to hang on to 12 for years to come while continually upgrading the product for free. My guess is that the big scenery update will force next version.

But even if it did, I’d be gobsmacked if they simply walked away from literally millions of dollars per year of revenue that their existing customers are comfortably accustomed to paying.

First of all, it would enable them to implement anti-aliasing in a way that's way better than what is currently offered in the sim. I don't quite understand the tech behind it, but I do know that this is the big step they are working on.
