Thursday at 06:07 AM3 days Sounds not too promising to be honest. I've been a happy active sky/hifi user for more than 15 years and quite happy with it. Never had any problems with it and it was always well worth the money. Sounds pretty logital to me that they charge money for weather engines for multiple sims. I mean it's a completely different piece of software, takes a lot of time to code and make it work flawlessly.Made the mistake to invest in other weather progams than AS and will not do that again in the near future. Let's see where this goes.
Thursday at 07:00 AM3 days FWIW, I didn't use ActiveSky for a long time but used AI to give me the best possible settings so transitions etc would be smoother etc and I have to say I've been really impressed. I've been using it ever since in tandem with Rex Atmos. I don't notice transitions at all anymore. Thursday at 04:31 PM2 days To me realistic weather plays a big role in the simulator and therefore I got curious after reading the Stratawx propaganda and I bought it to try it out. To be honest, I am disappointed. It is in no way better than AS. It has the same well known preset flaws as the visible transitions. You are, as in AS in a weather bubble with the same cloud scape all around you. The volcanic ashes clouds are back (!) and Cb clouds get for instance a top of 35000 ft and a base of 30000ft and a sharp cut at the base, absolutely strange looking. Turbulence is a joke. It is comparable to the in sim realistic turbulence setting. There is no slider to tame it a bit, therefore the choice of chosing an overlay which makes it even worse. My Fenix A320 was dancing around like crazy. An it looks as if they provided a kind of in build shader than I never saw cloud shadows on the ground that black (using HDR). The design of the app (UI?) is modern and beautifully done, but I think the weather features are more important than that. On the other hand, nearly every time you start Stratawx, an update is uploaded in the background so they seem to try to optimise things. But to me AS is convincing enough and above all, more honest.HansW

10 hours ago10 hr I never used ActiveSky in FS2000+, what is disadvantage of the native engine compared to ActiveSky? Seems like AS lacks realistic transitions whilst the native engine is perfect in this regards, is this correct? Best regards, Wanthuyr Filho Instagram: AeroTacto
3 hours ago3 hr Like AS it uses Global weather. The MSFS2024 engine uses Local weather, so the weather left from the plane might look completely different form the weather right from the plane. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

It's not horrible by any means the way it is now, but in certain situations it's very repetitive or depiction looks the same in one part of the world versus another. Seems like the system almost always uses cumulus version of clouds, and yesterday I had these terrible looking very dark cumulus clouds around San Diego KSAN that were atrocious! Other times, the weather can look pretty good.Still missing towering cumulus, cumulonimbus, supercells, etc. as well.
