MSFS | Expert Series 2: The Piper M600 by FSReborn

The Legacy was released as a beta, it was in a much more presentable state than this one and there was a flood of updates in a very short time. Totally different. From what I see in Discord, the M500 will also get updates and I'm sure the bugs widely reported in all of the forums will be addressed. I have no faith that the low Res textures will be though as that would make it unusable to console users who are priority number one these days.

Beta, Shmeta…

The Legacy was a dumpster fire when it released, and quite frankly, they should be embarrassed to have released a $50 addon in that poor state.

You really gonna give FSW a pass just because the graphics were pretty…? 😂

The addon had extraordinarily poor handling across the board and way more serious system bugs than a Release Candidate should ever have.

And YES, FSW did the right thing and fixed it in less than two weeks.

The M600, in contrast, costs half as much as the Lancair, and other than some missing aero drag (which is common in addons), it seems to be performing solidly for an addon that’s only 2 biz days old.

Graphics…? Yeah, I’ve already stated that the liveries and instrument coaming are really the only serious issues. And I’ve faith that at least the liveries will be fixed, or a “PC-Only” batch will be released. It’s actually fairly common over in XP…

In re the M500: I did see the brief note about planned updates. Did they expand on that any further…?

Well I bought it (a no brainer at less than 18 USD with my PD discount)! I like it a lot. Sounds, flight model seem solid. The model and textures are quite nice externally. Speculation on my part - th

I don't think it's a fair comparison as the M500 is strictly an FSReborn product. The M600 is, well, made for Microsoft, on behalf of FSReborn. It's intentionally made at a certain standard (set by

So I didn't wait as I said I would and I would seriously advise anyone considering this one to rent it first. It was in my hangar for five minutes - I don't even want to try it for 24 hours, it's that

I watch a lot of MSFS streamers, but I don't directly listen to them as much as I'm just watching their experience with the addon. Of course I'm watching multiple ones and looking for common things. Their actual opinion can be useful, but that's not the primary thing. I'm really just watching the addon itself.

I don't own this yet, but the big problem isn't whether it is worth $17. The question I have is: is it worth my time? Not that I like to throw money away, but $17 isn't really that important. The thing is, will I fly this plane over other addons? I already have the FSR500. That's usually why I end up skipping most of these. Not that every addon needs to be Black Square level of complexity, but why buy this if I already own better addons?

Yeah I guess this thread proves that for some 17 isn't worth it, or that for others it costs much more if they didn't already own the PD, AND they have to deal with high taxes. I love the M500, but I hate the G1000 (in the sim). IRL it's great. So I rarely fly the M500. The M600 uses the G3000 which I prefer, is a bit faster, has auto throttle, and autoland simulated which is super cool. The sounds are lackluster compared to the M500 though. For me I paid the 17 or whatever and it's worth it - the bugs WILL be addressed by FSR after they get back from the Expo. Sadly some things were rushed to due pressure etc. The 600 is also similar to the default TBM 930 (which is quite a bit faster), but not as nice imo. Then there's my personal favorite the BS TBM 850 - which is due to get upgraded sounds from Echo 19 eventually.

Will I fly the M600 a lot? Hard to say for me - I rarely even a do a flight anymore aside from beta testing, or "flying" Adobe Substance Painter haha. I'd rather fly Raul's Phenom or the Skyward Citation Sovereign over the turboprops hehe. I AM SPEED!

17, 28, or even 50 is a drop in the bucket if a person intends to use it a few times a week. It's a hobby afterall... I don't know any hobby that is cheap once you really get into it LOL.

So, I guess my next question is......why do the textures need to be lower resolution for everyone? Why can't the PC version have higher resolution textures than the console versions?

IDK - it’s done frequently over in XP (the choice of resolution).

Probably has something to do with the M600 being only Marketplace, etc

I have no idea why devs can't release a 4k and 2k pack. I guess because people will download the 4k with a potato pc or console and complain it doesn't work

This same developer (FSReborn) created two sets of textures for the M500, so, it's possible he may do the same for the M600. With the M500 there is a low-res texture pack for those who need it, and a higher res "normal" pack for everyone else.

I really got the sense that they could not finish everything properly but it had to be released for that Expo thing. I decided to wait a little while and see what updates are pushed out and then return to see if I will get it. In the meantime, today I returned to the Phenom and had two great flights!

Wait, what? Really? That is VERY good news. LOVE the BS TBM, but the sounds are by far its weakest point.

I think that was public lol? Not sure. I met up with Tyler at the E19 booth at the Expo actually and chatted with them for a little bit.

Yes. This isn't the first, second or beyond time this has happened. Console people are the majority so if it's a vram issue, like it typically is on console, developers are having to reduce texture sizes. I've been making liveries for a while and have a lot of knowledge in this area.

I guess one advantage is that our PC systems are more future-proof, since so much is being developed for consoles with lower specs.

They can make separate packages for PC and Console. IIRC the Default ini A320 Neo V2 for 2020 on console didn't have a cabin.

Or that maybe have been the A310.

Maybe they're pushing for more parity now.

So....... I'm not exactly sure why the textures are such a huge (apparently) issue.

Is there something stopping the usual people at places like Flightsim.to and elsewhere from fairly promptly releasing 4K textures for PC users?

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Very good question. I was wondering the same. I guess there needs to be a paint kit first.

It's the interior that's the biggest letdown. The main cockpit parts are fine - but it's the surrounding areas like the walls/ceiling area and the seats that had to be dropped in resolution. I think they are switching to decals though for the exterior - so the paints will be extremely crisp.
