  1. Guy on this thread says the problem has been solved, the youtube video looks very good http://prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=120471
  2. Hi, this is very interesting for me, thanks Q, the cloud illumination, is this only present when viewed from the VC? reason i ask is that I dont have VC on the model I use (Jetmax rig) so am wondering if I should try this route many thanks EDIT, found these on my FSX install so ported over to P3d, they only appear in VC/external views so no good for my setup unfortunately as the SimA doesnt have a VC. I did create a new camera but its not ideal as it has to be positoined beyond the cockpit of the model
  3. Just gone from a 970 to a 1070, 970 was occasionally maxing out at 100%, the 1070 hasnt gone above 60% so far with originally same settings and now more aggressive in terms of AA and amount of cloud layers AS2016/P3d3.3 Running 3 screens, AA4x MFAA FPS= no real gain in the heavy scenarios like London/NYC area but not seeing as many spikes like before. I lock my FPS using the Nvidia frame lock, minimum fibre time set at .20 and frames unlimited in P3d heavy cloud rendering is much smoother, can run 5 layers no problem I dont use any of the heavy PMDG addons as I own a jetmax rig Do I think it was worth the money? not really as I only use P3d but I do like the heavier weather settings. I am sure the card would perform better in the platform games etc
  4. me too add your support here http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6317&t=117931&p=132148#p132148
  5. I found setting a minimum fibre time improved my slow loading textures (didnt eliminate), basically when you run unlimited in the sim but then use an external limiter, P3d wastes rendering overhead above your FPS limiter because the terrain thread is sleeping as opposed using the spare miliseconds to do terrain/rendering work. I think the VAS improvements made also tell the app to unload textures out of view Add this to force P3d to spend a minimum amount of time performing terrain rendering MIN_FIBER_TIME_SEC=0.20 To your P3d.cfg in the [main] section Higher numbers mean more work is done on the terrain rendering leaving less for the higher FPS, you need to find the right balance to keep your FPS where you want them. original source here http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=120133&p=139706#p139706
  6. P3d has the old airport, suspect your navdata is new (and showing the new airport) hence the mismatch
  7. Main reason I upgraded to this version, I have to say the feature is so disappointing that I have now deactivated it. Essentially when the predetermined conditions are set, an effect file is activated ahead of your camera view. A smoke/particle effect is generated which you fly into, this is supposed to simulate passing cloud. for me 20% of the time it looks ok, the rest it looks pretty silly especially when your nowhere near a cloud and it activates.
  8. Nope, the upgrade is done in the software, not on the purchase site. I have just done this successfully when ASN was purchased elsewhere
  9. AS2016 released purchase from fspilotshop in $$$$, you will save some money
  10. I normally agree with this criticism, but for apps like ActiveSky, every time a new P3d version is released, a new build is required and credit due its produced pretty rapidly, for that I dont mind as I want to see both products evolve and recognise the workload/differential so am happy to pay a bit more in recognition
  11. I seem to recall dialing down the mesh resolution fixes this issue, dunno but maybe worth a try
  12. looks more like slushy snow than mud to me
  13. That used to be the case and probably still is for many sims, but recently I flew a 777 level D and the graphics were incredible, even snow blowing across the runway Hotfix released http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&p=137475&sid=eda9a2445cfd925180ada91c4d060b60#p137475
  14. +1, nothing that stands out for me and ive only just got 3.2 reinstalled and running after going to win 10
  15. hi, thanks for the tool, excellent Any chance of a setting for cloud shadows which is less darker than the current lowest? finding it a bit to dark for my taste thx
  16. I only ever used to use the rudder to compensate for prop torque when putting the power on in the climb, never used to look at the ball and most of the time flew skid turns. In a real aircraft you dont need to look at the turn coordinator because you can feel that the aircraft is aligned to the turn, in FSX i dont bother and leave auto-coord off. The other time i would use rudder is for turns without using the control wheel, my instructor used to get me to fly back to London just using rudder, trim and power, teaches you how to really handle the aircraft.
  17. I have flown a few times PPL from Denham to Le Touquet France in a C182, at 6000feet the water movement of the English channel is vaguely noticeable but you can make out the white horses moving in the swell and the wake of the ferries and container ships. I think the issue is that texture resolution is not high enough to accurately depict moving water from altitude within P3d As for low level, I dont have any issues with it just saying
  18. biggest issue for me is that my addon airport approach lights shine through at 9DME in vis which was reported as 100m, very frustrating as the stock airport lighting acts correctly. Must be non SDK lights
  19. Plus 1, I did all of my PPL here, great aircraft, great people and challenging flying
  20. +1, I own an opencockpits 744 FMC but never use it now even though it looks much better, tablet version is my preference
