P3d is optimised for todays VGA cards, this is most likely to be your issue get a gtx970, you wont regret it

P3D HDR Brightness Mod - Bright Daytime and Dark Night
kand replied to Pilot53's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Thanks very much for this, it has made a huge difference for me kind regards -
try this enable bathymetry, water to ultra, get the floatplane and land on the sea, set the wx to stormy, watch the seas swell
-
you have to have bathymetry active

basic PPL is about stick and rudder, navigating via chart and landmark, this is where fsim fails because of lack of feel and that pitch/power in the sim is generally unrepresentative of real life due MS FS limitations when it comes to IMC and learning theory, fsim is very useful, when i first started my PPL training in 2001, I was too advanced with respect of what fsim had taught me, I had to unlearn a lot of stuff and take 5 steps back. My instructor used to rollock me all the time for having my head in the cockpit
-
UK GA PPL, PA-28 1) less than 5%, only time ive ever simulated a flight was my cross channel check to L2K 2) subjective real flying is rewarding because you cant hit pause fsim is rewarding because you can do stuff you cant in real life

nvidia driver issue, i had the same, roll back to an older version

I was suffering with stuttering in P3d 2.4, I upgraded my GPU to a GTX970 and had a significant improvement but still some stuttering, at UK2000 LHR I was only hitting 21-23 FPS I installed a freeware program called process lasso and noticed that P3d.exe was set to a priority class below normal? setting this back to normal removed my stutters and FPS now hit the lock that I have set at 25FPS I dont know if I did something to set this flag before or whether P3d comes defaulted at this, anyway its improved my sim immensely so it may be worth checking yourself regards
-
well said, i share your sentiments, I start with all sliders at minimum but wx at maximum because its important for me, I then crank up the scenery and eye candy at my fav airport (EGLL) until the FPS is affected, thats where I leave it, wx trumps everything else for me OH and PS, Rob, thanks for your superb input to the platform, I really am pleased your on the team as you represent the sim world views well

CPU for fsx
kand replied to krstan's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
I would advise you get yourself an intel chip, i5 or i7, they are much better and faster than AMD -
why would it contain a 2nd fsx.cfg with these dumbed down entries..... what a scam this is [GRAPHICS] TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=512 NUM_LIGHTS=8 AIRCRAFT_SHADOWS=0 AIRCRAFT_REFLECTIONS=1 COCKPIT_HIGH_LOD=0 LANDING_LIGHTS=1 AC_SELF_SHADOW=0 EFFECTS_QUALITY=0 GROUND_SHADOWS=0 [sCENERY] LENSFLARE=0 DAWN_DUSK_SMOOTHING=1 IMAGE_COMPLEXITY=3 [DISPLAY] BLOOM_EFFECTS=0 SKINNED_ANIMATIONS=0 TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40 UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0 [PANELS] QUICKTIPS=1 PANEL_OPACITY=100 [TERRAIN] LOD_RADIUS=2.500000 MESH_COMPLEXITY=60 MESH_RESOLUTION=18 TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=23 AUTOGEN_DENSITY=3 DETAIL_TEXTURE=1 WATER_EFFECTS=3 [WEATHER] CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=3 DETAILED_CLOUDS=0 CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=5 THERMAL_VISUALS=0 DownloadWindsAloft=0 DisableTurbulence=0 [TrafficManager] AirlineDensity=0 GADensity=0 FreewayDensity=0 ShipsAndFerriesDensity=5 LeisureBoatsDensity=15 IFROnly=0 AIRPORT_SCENERY_DENSITY=0

Why is TextureMaxLoad frowned upon now?

I think its just worth noting out of respect for those who dont know, the late Steve Lacey, he was tragically killed some time back by a DUI driver -
I wonder if LM will sell their updated code back to microsoft to release as FS11, wouldnt be surprised if this happened, regardless I will buy p3d v2 when its released

ORBX Iceland demo - problem with vector lights

search for a resized halo.bmp in the avsim library, that will fix the lights edit http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=149396 -
Weather engines and their lack of wind gust and turbulence
kand replied to joherszch's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
I totally agree, I fly GA as a PPL and even a 10knot xwind with a few gusts can make for quite a high workout especially in cold bumpy air, in FSX the ac seem to fly on rails without the fluidity that flying in a moving airmass brings in real life -
DX10 Fixer released!
kand replied to Paul J's topic in The Official DX10 Scenery Fixer Support Forum
to those complaining about the cost, just think what Steve did initially for free, had he not released that you may think differently, I have bought it and in total for all the guy has done its a good price -
use FSUIPC to send a button push of throttle cut on the reverse axis, that will sort it
-
hypothetically talking FSX would IMHO run superb at this speed, when I first got FSX i had an AMD 2500 and the sim ran like a dog, every CPU upgrade has given positive results with sandybridge @4.7 being the best
-
pretty sure when I flew the 777 level d sim we did a V1 cut and the aircraft automatically applied rudder to compensate for the loss of thrust on one side, not fully you still had to apply opposite rudder but not much (dead leg dead donkey) Is this modelled?
-
you can try opening up the p3d sim1.dll in a hex editor and view the settings? there is an excel here which lists the offsets to check and explains the scalars, make sure you set your hex editor to decimal when viewing the scalars

Orbx FTX Global Not DX10 compatible
kand replied to sjed's topic in DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help
yup me too, I will buy regardless of addition to the payware version, I want to support Steves work and contribution as he has reinvented FSX for me, I have dropped using P3D for now -
Exactly what I was thinking!

The driver is always responsible for the safe operation of the train regardless of what is installed in the cab just like a signaller should not try and operate signalling equipment against the interlocking, my point is that in the UK we have measures to mitigate against a driver error, in the case of this disaster it would appear there was nothing other than maybe a primitive passive safety system to safeguard against a train overspeeding from a high speed section of line onto a serious curve with a great reduction of speed, given that the track and infrastructure look brand new I am somewhat surprised by this. You initially quoted me as if I was talking garbage so I naturally defended my statement
