  1. Could it be related to the wheelspray effect? A
  2. Firstly, thanks for such an in-depth review on the CRJ series from Aerosoft. It is indeed one of a niche seldomly represented in simulation. I just don't have the time for lengthy long-haul simulations unfortunately, so I am always on the lookout for something to fill the 2-3 hours from planning to shutdown that I have available in the evenings. My concerns are always with simulation performance. I currently run an i7-2700K, but am in the process of upgrading my sim platofrm to an i5-8600K that has been pretested and delidded to run at 5.1GHz, paired with a GTX1070Ti. It is certainly not top-of-the-range, but only a small percentage of users can affords the likes of 7900Xs and the like. My question is, on what system exactly do you run the sim? I gather from the screenshots that you did the review on FSX. Do you have P3D V4 as well? Thanks for the great review... Andrew
  3. The F86 looks great in real life too... I recently saw a set of screenshots, here maybe, that displayed the DCS F86. I thought they were real pictures at first... A
  4. Late to the party, as I just installed P3DV4 two days ago... thanks for the tip! This works a treat... Andrew
  5. Dear Sean, I was gutted to hear your news back then when Real Air shut down. I was personally moved by your news. Afterwards, I realized that I had failed to pick up the P3D versions of the B60 and B60T. Alas, these two were uninstalled from FSX last night as I begin my preparations to switch to P3D V4... It would be amazing to hear that the aircraft were available again. Real Air were always one of the yardsticks of performance and quality. Whatever happens, best wishes to you and Rob. It was a sad day indeed that you two officially bowed down out of the industry. Andrew
  6. I pretty much tore the rest of the hair out of my head when I realized that I was unable to get hold of the P3D version of the Dukes... well and truly missed the boat there... I would be really happy if there were some way to purchase the P3D versions... I know it is probably unlikely... A
  7. Great set that showcases everything nicely! A
  8. All I can think of while listening and watching is Monty Python... A
  9. Rob's system will dent your upgrade more than $1500... :) For me, new CPU/board/RAM, ca. €1000, new M2 SSD, €400, new power supply, €100, P3D V4 $199, upgrades of software and repurchases... ? Ouch...
  10. Then you are a very lucky man... I need to be much nearer to 1.4 to get the 4.8GHz, though it is exceptionally stable at that and has been running at that speed since I bought it... I upgraded from a GTX670, so the jump was rather large. I haven't had the time to review the change to the 1070Ti much and am currently very seriously contemplating the switch to P3D4 and removing FSX for good. I see no point in buying an extra SSD for this mainboard and setup, when I may be considering a new CPU/mainboard combination in due course that supports M2 and so on with NVMe. So that inevitably forces me to dump FSX, as it resides on my 750Gb SSD... A
  11. Vu, I am running the 2700K at 4.8GHz as well, though I know have it paired with a GTX1070Ti and 16Gb of RAM (at 1866 timings) I have been looking at upgrading for about a year now. One way forward is to go for a selected CPU taht can run at a guaranteed clock of say 5 or 5.1GHz... that way, the performancce gain is quite noticeable my guess... particularly when paired with more recent GPU technology like the 1080or 1070Tis... As an aside though, what voltage are you running your 2700K to get 4.8GHz? A
  12. I think the FADEC-style startup and running of the PW150s on the Q400 are pretty realistic... It is doable, but outside the P3D/FSX workings A
  13. Indeed, but you don't have a mixture lever in a turboprop. The condition lever is the the righthand lever and needs to moved from cut off to ground idle after 13%N1 has been reached, to avoid a hot start. No more than ground idle... A
  14. This is amazing community work guys. I am so impressed. It is a real shame that Carenado doesn't get you all on board somehow. it would be a dream if their modelling and artwork could be mated to a quality avionics package... Thanks to you all. You make the thought of actually buying one of these viable to a Carenado disbeliever... A
  15. Knowing a former DUS atc guy and hearing the sort of things that can be authorized on final days of people/airlines/whatever, there is probably absolutely nothing at all wrong here and everything was probably cleared long before the aircraft even settled onto final... I wonder if there is any "news" of this over at PPRUNE... storm in a tea cup and sensationalist journalism at its worst again... the Sun is worse than toilet paper... A
  16. Tapatalk is a multi-forum platform. I do not believe they would ever make changes to incorporate one single forum, especially if it meant breaking the integration of other fora already on the platform. I too find it a little annoying that I cannot access avsim through tapatalk, since tapatalk works for all my other news sites. However, I am also aware that it is apparently a bit of a PITA for the site managers as well enabling tapatalk, so I certainly do understand avsim's stance, albeit annoying for me personally. As a result, I only get to read the avsim site news when I am actually sitting at a PC and not on a mobile device. Trying to read a desktop forum on a small mobile device is hard on the old eyes :) Andrew
  17. Mark, I only just saw your post now. I have the Warthog HOTAS set up with a custom extension. I am really interested to see how your setup looks assembled. The custom extension tube I bought is simply an black aluminium tube 15cm long to increase the throw. I mounted the stick itself on a construction consisting of drainpipe (!) that I have painted black. It stands bolted to a wooden floor plate along with a set of MFG Crosswinds. The whole setup is reminiscent of the Messerschmitt Bf109 :) Currently still running on FSX but planning in the short to mid term the switch to P3D V4... Andrew
  18. It is actually really straightforward with the Flight1 wrapper. You use the coupon button on the wrapper and enter the details of your existing licence that you wish to upgrade. It took less than 5 minutes to complete the process... I particularly like the fact that there is now a unified installer for the 650 and 750, with support for FSX/SE/P3D up to V4, one upgrade fee of $19.95 and for me a free 650 and P3DV4 functionality to boot... thanks to Flight1, one of the nicer surprises (like a 48% off sale at OrbX...) A
  19. This sounds like some antivirus suite "interacting" with a changed element in sim, scanning a file everytime it is loaded... A
  20. This is tantamount to flogging a dead horse. Everyone who bought into the beta test knew the pitfalls. Milviz were originally expecting to have finished it a lot earlier than now. They have been forthcoming with the offer of a refund, which I also did not take. They are now offering those who purchased a free copy of the P3D version (V4 even), as well as the 350 hybrid glass/analogue version. Let us all please move on and just wait. It will be ready eventually. Remember that Rome wasn't built in a day. Good luck to Colin and the team in getting the 350s out of the hangar. I am sure it will be well worth the wait. Andrew
  21. Indeed it is... 160km/h is around 100mph, that is nothing on the unrestricted sections, where a number of vehicles regularly hit the 300km/h mark. Not that there are many opportunities to get any where near such speeds these days, given all the trucks on the roads... let's face it, the fuel consumption at those speeds is ridiculous and it is rather dangerous, even when the conditions are perfect (given the numbers drivers inexperienced with travel at such speeds)... I was using the example to illustrate the fact raindrops running across a windshield at speed look totally different from the way portrayed in the video... A
  22. I agree with you Aurelien, I know what I see in my car at 160km/h and faster when it is raining. The droplets stream across the windscreen in the airflow across the windshield. That effect is not visible here at all when the rain stops. The shield would dry rather quickly in a 220KTAS airstream... Andrew
  23. Unfortunately not. Three totally different aircraft with different concepts, each with its own challenges. The poster equates ease of control with the degree of automation. The easiest is going to be the one you know the best, completely regardless of any automation, as Ian so wisely put it. But I still don't understand what the point of the question is in the context here. Is the original poster looking for an aircraft to purchase that requires the least input from his/her point of view? Otherwise there is little to offer as a useful answer. A
  24. I have to admit that I do not understand the point of the question... I am not sure what the threadstarter's aims are... I think Ian Webber's reply hits the nail on the head... A
