  1. Can't answer for Turtle Beach but I have recently picked up a Series S and am absolutely thrilled with it. I would probably have got the X if it was available anywhere but honestly for the price of it the S is an incredible machine and is so tiny, it looks a lot nicer than the X in my opinion (but I appreciate that's not so important to a lot of folk). The graphic quality of MSFS running on it on a 46" 1080p TV is absolutely amazing. It looks nicer and runs smoother than it does on my PC in all honesty (specs below) with graphics settings at High.
  2. This. It irks me a little bit that for a lot of add ons there are two places to purchase them; you can purchase through Marketplace and have everything in one place but face getting slower updates, or you can choose to support the developer and purchase directly from their site, which is what I've been doing for the most part up until now. However, if you don't purchase from the Marketplace, you can't use that add on on Xbox unless you pay for it again. I find that really annoying.
  3. Only flown for about half an hour on PC so far but mine is noticeably smoother at the same settings (High global preset). I did the discovery flight over London so pretty taxing area with full photogrammetry. My PC is 7 years old, specs in signature.
  4. You assume that all of us here are PC users. Seriously this 'them and us' we've got going on here is getting really old 🙃 If you even try the Xbox version of MSFS, you will realise, it's the same! To all intents and purposes these days an Xbox is basically just a PC with a custom OS and a smaller form factor.
  5. In UK airspace it should be "bubbye"
  6. Yeah definitely the Dev version is the one to use. Gets updated several times a day sometimes and always has the latest features. The Stable one gets outdated very quickly. I've been using only the Dev version since January and never had a problem with it. The Experimental version has sort of become the new Dev version in terms of possible instability.
  7. But by your own logic, the flight dynamics in every other sim must be "horrifically bad" as well since being able to fly with an Xbox controller isn't unique to MSFS.
  8. There are no sliders. Everything's all hard coded graphics wise, the only settings you can change are to do with control set up and assistance. At a guess I would say it's probably most comparable to the Ultra preset on PC, but with the draw distance turned down quite a bit on the Series S.
  9. Wait til he discovers that you can play Xplane and P3D with an Xbox controller too! There will be no RealSims left to run to...
  10. The same happened to the forums at launch. My guess is all the happy folk are flying and enjoying it and not posting so it looks like a disproportionately large amount of people are having problems.
  11. Yes I agree, and also payware that hasn't been purchased from Marketplace - so it essentially just installs like a mod into the Community folder. I'd love to be able to use the JF PA28s and also some Burning Blue Design airports I've bought on the Xbox but my guess is that I can't and probably won't be able to even if they do bring them to the Marketplace eventually, without buying them again. Hope to be proved wrong!
  12. I seem to remember that the first load of the CRJ does take forever, they put text at the bottom of the loading screen warning as such. Maybe the update has reset it so its like loading it for the first time.
  13. I don't plan to move completely to Xbox, the PC still has its place. I can't imagine doing an airline flight with the Airbus from point A to point B on the Xbox for example, the controller makes it too fiddly and I need my charts open alongside etc. But for VFR flying, low and slow and enjoying the view, the Xbox is perfect.
  14. Probably going to go against the grain here; not tried it on my PC yet but I've just got it all installed on my fresh out-the-box Series S and I'm blown away, it's epic. Controls are going to take a bit of getting used to as particularly camera and viewpoints as I'm not used to using a controller but I can see myself flying a lot more on Xbox going forward.
  15. So all three of your test subjects are in the same age demographic... It's not just kids who own Xboxes you know.
  16. Do the JustFlight Arrows/Warrior work OK? They're all I really fly at this moment in time. Also, do said products work on Xbox? My guess is no, buy hoping for a miracle 😂
  17. Well yes of course, because there would be no point in having any of those options on the Xbox when the hardware is consistent (apart from the Series S and the Series X). No one in their right mind who owns a Series X is going to think "ooh hang on I'm just going to go and dial the trees down a notch"! They're only there on the PC because there's so many different PC specs out there they need to cater for and need to be able to fine tune those settings to make it run optimally.
  18. Have you watched any of the Developer Q&As Microsoft/Asobo put out monthly? They've said repeatedly that will not be the case. Ultimately the PC and Xbox versions will be exactly the same with minor differences only in how the controls work for the console. They have said they are adding more tutorials and assistance features, but certainly not 'dumbing down' the experience.
  19. Both equally. Was a tubeliner simmer primarily before MSFS, but mainly because it wasn't enjoyable to fly VFR at all. This is the first sim where flying VFR looks and feels amazing and dare I say it, real. Now I have an Xbox on the way, I expect I'll fly VFR mostly while chilling out on the sofa, and will use the PC for the tubeliners where it's useful to also use things like Navigraph and VATSIM etc.
  20. So despite my previous post talking myself out of it I have just caved and bought a Series S. Can't justify the cost of a Series X not owning a 4K TV and they're also nowhere to be found. The S is so cheap in comparison and seems to be readily available (and it looks nice which if its going to be sitting in my living room is quite important!) Being my first Xbox console I'm quite excited! Going to try Forza Horizon 4 as well as I also love driving games/sims.
  21. I have the Thrustmaster Airbus stick. They're prone to problems with the potentiometers for the twist (Z axis) which can cause erratic spikes and inputs to the rudder axis. If you wiggle the stick with the sensitivities window open, can you see it spiking? If so it'll be the pot that's gone bad.
  22. My club used to have a Warrior I (-151) as well as Warrior IIs and I always found it a bit nicer to fly as they have self centering ailerons which make them feel a bit heavier and more precise. They only built them from about 1974-1976 though so much less common than IIs!
  23. I get you, I don't have a huge amount of third party stuff at play though. Have a few airports, most free, and a couple of aircraft but that's really about it. It seems really strange to me that this one setting has such a profound effect. Maybe I've not noticed it before as until now real world traffic has been very light and it's only now starting to ramp up, therefore the sim is showing more traffic.
  24. I've been very, very tempted over the last few weeks to buy a Series S as they're on next day on Amazon. Forget the Series X, they're literally like hens teeth at the moment. What keeps stopping me though is that I've owned consoles in the past (Playstations, never had an Xbox before) and they've always been something I've used for a few weeks and then sat under my TV gathering dust, used occasionally as a DVD/Bluray player. Given that really my only temptation for getting one would be Flight Simulator, I feel that it'd be a more worthwhile investment to wait a little while, see what performance is like after Sim Update 5, and then give my PC a major upgrade a bit later in the year.
  25. Ah! Thanks Stephan! Just got the stutters again on a longer flight this time in the A32NX. Thinking I may have to abort, I went into the settings and turned off the live traffic, and the stutters immediately stopped. When I turned them back on, they came back. Strangely though, I turned them back on when I'd landed and shut down and the stutters didn't return, and I'd also been flying for a good hour and half with it turned on without any problem. Is this a known bug then? We can't be the only people that see it - or does no one fly with Live Traffic?!
