  1. In terms of the original topic. The most likely answer is they 100% own the IP to the FSX code whereas FS Flight most likely has other parties involved who would be entitled to royalty on every copy sold.
  2. It changes. Currently it is Kokoda to Goroka in PNG. Good distance apart, both airports are in different scenic wide valleys, but separated by an insanely high line of Mountains you need to get through or over somehow.
  3. There were some glitches specific to the MS store early on but nothing I am aware of lately. Biggest issue with Steam I have heard is many people seem to need to pre-load their steam wallet with cash before making a marketplace purchase which i smore an annoyance than a gamebreaker.
  4. Yes either that or stop the planned-obsolescence/product-segmentation that is driving them putting stupidly low amounts of VRAM in their mid/high range GPUs . Putting 16GB in the 4070 would likely to only have added a tiny bit to the price over 12GB and would meant the product is much more likely to last the 3 to 4 years people hope to get out of a top end GPU . Ironically the fact that RTX3070ti owners are already thinking of upgrading a high end card that may only be 12 months old, probably has the marketing types at Nvidia congratulating themselves on how clever the decision to limit the 3070 to 8Gb was as a marketing strategy.
  5. At 4K on highest resolution with Ray Tracing etc enabled ? They are not saying these new games are unplayable at 1080p on medium resolution with all the fancy features turned off. Same way you can still use a 1946 Ferguson tractor on the farm if you only grow 2 acres of tomatoes, 8GB VRAM (or even less) will in most cases suffice if you do not want to max out the eye candy. They are saying: people with relatively new cards like a 3070, who are used to being able to wind everything to max at 4K almost all the time without issues, are now going to start hitting a VRAM limit with only 8GB of VRAM. that to take advantage of the performance of new middle/high end cards like the rtx4070 you really need more than 8GB and 8GB of VRAM should be only shipping on the budget/low end gaming cards https://www.techspot.com/article/2670-vram-use-games/
  6. Good plan if you have no immediate need as there will almost certainly be more 4080 options eventually, possibly a budget non-ti (hopefully with same VRAM) and maybe a "super" which is closer to 4090 in performance. Just keep an eye on prices and any signs they may skyrocket again. Seems unlikely but you never know.
  7. If your game, try htis ... https://videocardz.com/newz/modder-puts-16gb-memory-on-geforce-rtx-3070-and-it-works
  8. On the other hand 8GB VRAM was clearly not enough - there are going to be heaps of really cheap 3070 cards on the market shortly as heaps of new games crash or run slowly with 8GB of VRAM (Last of Us - Part 1, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Hogwarts Legacy, Doom Eternal, Callisto Protocol, Witcher 3, Forspoken to name just a few. ) People are actually ghetto modding 3070s to fit 16GB VRAM ram or swapping the 3070 out for the A4000 which is basically a downclocked 3070 with 16GB VRAM . Sure 24GB seems to still be overkill but the absolute minimum for newer games, especially with RT enabled is 12GB with 16GB preferable.

  10. The upgrade from 16GB to 32GB made a difference back in the day, but recent optimisations seem to have reduced the need for large amounts of ram. Unless you are using a VR headset as mentioned above - in which case the more RAM the better.
  11. There was a recent c170 update that reduces the wacky ground handling problems and a few other issues. Latest update for the 140 was about 4 or 5 months ago. Both are fun to fly. Both, even after updates, still have issues, so buyer beware if you tend to get nit picky or are prone to buyer regret over imperfections. I do still fly both, though personally still prefer the c140 as it has more character, and think either of them are good value for the price.
  12. Well they have made some minor mods to external models, adding winglets, tip tanks, radar pods where necessary. Weird thing is if they produced an identical product except with a proprietary external model that was inferior to the Asobo external model - would the very same people then also refuse to buy it on the basis that the default aircraft looked better ?
  13. In real life if you fly rarely in winter, and are not parked in a hanger with 120v/240v power for a normal charger - it is a good idea to invest in some sort of approved solar battery tender.
  14. In the past you could alleviate that a bit by dedicating an entire core just to the TrackIR. No idea if it still works, have not needed to lately.
  15. Most probably a conflict with other software. Some of the early Working Title addons for example have been known to produce that effect in a number of aircraft.
  16. Unfortunate as the default TrackIR profile is a compromise that is meant to also work for First Person Shooters and is far from optimal for flight. The Seth profile gives an immediate massive improvement. I do not have access to a computer with it installed at present but perhaps someone else can upload a copy somewhere.
  17. Start put by using the "Seth" profile linked below (then modify it as you see fit, some people find it a touch twitchy for example ) - https://forums.naturalpoint.com/download/file.php?id=61&sid=9bbf0f1d6b61f10746e3765b74826e35
  18. I misread that title as Fishbed and was thinking what is this MIG 21 that is Beta 1.3 ?
  19. Try starting the game from inside the MS Store or the Windows XBOX app.
  20. The Shock Cooling argument is reminiscent of discussions about static protection when handling RAM. Most self taught home PC builders are convinced it is a thing of the past but the problem is the sort of damage static allegedly does only shows up intermittently, underload or after a longish time rather than immediately so the tendency is to blame the RAM when faults do occur, not installation incompetence. With regard to Shock Cooling: - if shock cooling is a thing at all, it only happens at very high CHT otherwise simply shutting down the engine on the ground after a flight would cause it - piston engines like Continental and Lycoming never seem to get hot enough for shock cooling though Lycoming themselves definitely say it can be a thing - https://www.lycoming.com/content/how-avoid-sudden-cooling-your-engine - logically it is more likely to be an issue on big radials or potentially in a turbocharger but that is conjecture That said, if your POH on your $100,000 plus real-life airplane says "avoid shock cooling" I would listen to that rather than some anecdotal story from the internet about it being a myth
  21. Possibly your VRM temps are too high ? This is particular an issue with a lot of AIO builds as there is no HSF blowing air over the motherboards VRM heatsinks.
  22. I always found it curious that the Turbine conversion meant Vne for the Duke increased by about 50 knots. Never really understood how swapping in a PT6A would change Vne .
  23. According to POH: https://stpeteair.org/wp-content/uploads/PA-28-181-Archer-II-POH-.pdf
  24. Got Friends amazing Wilga, which also happens to be on special at the moment. https://www.got-friends.com/products/pzl-104-wilga-35-80-series 450 HP version at St Bart's in the rain.
