  1. Further to discussion of the concept demonstration version of the MSFS2020_AutoFPS starting here, the app has now matured to a point to where I am happy to formally release it. You can download the latest version of MSFS2020_AutoFPS here. In summary, this free utility is a new development that is a simplification of, and a slightly different concept to, DynamicLOD_ResetEdition. It aims to improve MSFS performance and smoothness by automatically changing the two settings that impact MSFS performance the most, namely TLOD and cloud quality settings, based on the current AGL and with an easy to use GUI. It provides features such as: Automatically adjusts TLOD to achieve a user-defined target FPS band based on pre or user-defined maximum and minimum TLODs, TLOD minimum on ground/landing option, which prioritises TLOD over FPS during these flight phases and also averts exacerbating existing texture tearing issues with DX12, Cloud quality decrease option for when FPS can't be achieved at the lowest desired TLOD, Automatic pause when MSFS loses focus option, particularly useful if using FG due to varying FPS when MSFS gains or loses focus, Automatic FPS settling timer on MSFS graphics mode and focus changes to allow FPS to stabilise before being acted upon, Simultaneous PC, FG and VR mode compatibilty including correct FG FPS display and separate FPS targets for each mode, A greatly simplified GUI option that uses pre-defined settings for an automated experience suited to most user scenarios, and Auto restoration of original settings changed by the utility. Important: This utility directly accesses active MSFS memory locations while MSFS is running to read and set TLOD and cloud quality settings on the fly at a maximum rate of one read and, if required, change per setting per second. The utility will first verify that the MSFS memory locations being used are still valid and if not, likely because of an MSFS version change, will attempt to find where they have been relocated. If it does find the new memory locations and they pass validation tests, the utility will update itself automatically and will function as normal. If it can't find or validate MSFS memory locations at any time when starting up, the utility will self-restrict to read only mode to prevent the utility making changes to unknown MSFS memory locations. As such, I believe the app to be robust in its interaction with validated MSFS memory locations and to be responsible in disabling itself if it can't guarantee that. Nonetheless, this utility is offered as is and no responsibility will be taken for unintended negative side effects. Use at your own risk! More information, including instructions on how to install, update, uninstall and configure the various options in the app, can be found in the readme file located here. I hope that the app proves useful in getting the most out of your MSFS 2020 experience. I welcome any feedback you have on this app and will do my best to fix any bugs or issues that are identified..
  2. Further to extensive discussion of the initial releases of MSFS2020_AutoFPS here, the app has undergone a major update to version 0.4.2 which was formally released today. You can download the latest version of MSFS2020_AutoFPS here. In summary, this app aims to improve the MSFS user experience by automatically changing key MSFS settings that impact MSFS performance and smoothness the most. It has an easy to use UI and provides features such as: Automatic TLOD adjustment when in the air to achieve and maintain a target FPS, Improved target FPS tracking for all modes by having much smaller TLOD changes the closer you are to your target FPS, giving more consistent FPS for a better flight experience. A choice between VFR and IFR flight types, which changes the flight phases where the app prioritises FPS or TLOD, Auto raising and lowering of the minimum TLOD option, depending on low altitude performance being either very favourable or poor respectively, Auto target FPS option, which is useful if you don't know what target FPS to choose or if your flight types are so varied that a single target FPS value is not always appropriate, Cloud quality decrease option for when FPS can't be achieved at the lowest desired TLOD, Automatic OLOD adjustment option based on an automatic or user-definable OLOD range and altitude band, Simultaneous PC, FG and VR mode compatibilty including correct FG FPS display and separate FPS targets for each mode, A greatly simplified non-expert default UI option that uses pre-defined settings for an automated experience suited to most user scenarios, Auto detection and protection from known similar apps already running or incompatibilities with newer MSFS versions, and Auto restoration of original MSFS settings changed by the app, recently enhanced to withstand MSFS CTDs. More information, including instructions on how to install, update, uninstall and configure the various options in the app, can be found in the readme file located here. As with all earlier releases, I hope that the app proves useful in getting the most out of your MSFS 2020 experience. I welcome any feedback you have on this app and will do my best to fix any bugs or issues that are identified.
  3. Hello! I have uploaded the issue on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SygDZ5K1oQg So this issue started after updating to SU14, any ideas on how to fix?? When i start the sim, everything is fine... Then, at random (It doesnt happen straight away, very weird....) when i switch from a custom wing view to the cockpit, the weird shimmering starts as you can see.... Then i change something simple in the settings and it goes away... any ideas? This did not happen before the update... So to summarize, it does not start like this, my FPS are good, no issues. Then I go to a wing view (custom view), then back to the cockpit and this happens... However, it does not happen everytime, it is very random... Has anyone had any similar issues? Nvidia RTX 4070 i9 9900K 32gb RAM
  4. Hey Guys so i recently bought , a new airplane from Carenado and i have this issue If i load up the model with all the systems and the screens closed , i am getting a solid 50 fps , as soon as i turn the batteries on , the fps drops from 50 to 0.3 - 0.5 Please help me guys !!! :( . I Never had anything like this , with the previous carenado planes i bought . I am getting frustrated cause i am thinking i spent my money for nothing . I have a good laptop , i am not saying it's the best , of course it's not , i have an Intel core i7 at 2.20 GhZ , my graphics card is : Nvidea Geforce GT 740M , A RAM that is 8 GB and windows 7 64 bit , i am also running the 32 bit version of fsx , just cause i am used at it all these years that i've been playing it . I NEVER, neverrr had any issues with any other Carenado planes i had , But as soon as i opened this plane in fsx , all hell broke loose . I mean as i said above if i load up the plane in a state without any power and avionics i am getting 60 fps , the problems start as soon as i enable the 2 batteries . Can anyone please help me ??? . I already sent a message to Carenado , but they seem to ditch me for some unknown reason . Do you guys know any solution ? P.S. I've already tried re-installing fsx , re installing SP2 , And the Acceleration pack or however you call it , and still nothing :(
  5. I'm so frustrated and exhausted.... Before I used CPU E2140 OC @ 2,8Ghz and 2GB RAM with the system in my signature. Medium display settings in Fs9 and AA/AF set to 4x. But it didn't satisfied me, so I upgraded to E5300 OC @4Ghz and added 2GB RAM more. From then I couldn't keep the settings like before, I get lower FPS. And now, even with lower display settings and AA 4x, AF 2x I still get very low FPS. E.g with my old system I can have PMDG 747/MD-11 at FSDT Kenedy KJFK or Aerosoft Frankfurt with acceptable FPS, but now it can go below 10FPS and I can do nothing but watch.I tried to reinstall my fs9 but no luck. Defrag my HDD,use CCleaner to clear some space...nothing can make the situation better. Here is my settings and task manager. I'm very curious at the performance page, why are my CPU usage are very low?(I took this while having Wilco A320 sitting at Flytampa Buffalo and getting only ~10FPS,at Tampa Rebooted ~15FPS) The only way I can think of is reinstalling the whole OS (win7 32bit)
  6. Hello All, I fly mostly in VC with NGX. I just noticed a strange problem recently: When the NGX is first loaded up in 2D panel, I would get 20-35fps in busy airports like the FSDT JFK and on air I get way above 30s FPS, then I swithch to VC I get around 16-25fps on airports. But when I switch back to 2D panel from VC I get heavy FPS hit down to around 9-12fps. So my VC FPS is now high than in 2D panel! Does anyone know why this is happening? I never had this happen before with other add-on, but it seems to happen on all my PMDG aircraft now. Any suggestion is really appreciated! Here's my spec:i7 950 OC to 3.84GTX 470 Superclocked (updated with latest driver now)Win 7 64 bitsFSX with SP2, full screen mode1920x1080 resolution Tommy Tse
  7. Hello, Right after passing transition altitude (18000ft in this case), I pressed the STD button on the EFIS to standardize the barometric pressure settings as usual. Before I pressed the button, FPS was at a good 23. Afterwards... well see for yourselves:
  8. Hello,i have done as PMDG as advised and changed my Aircraft cfg via ******* 'Bojote' Altuve but when i download the last instuction the external fps limiter and click on it and it just flashes a black box and nothing else can some one please help.many thanks you are a great bunch of folks.james.
  9. I normally don't post but.... I have to say I think the NGX is a very good piece of software. Not only does it do all the things that other PMDG add ons have done it also really "feels" like an airliner. All thats missing is the bland food!!! I am currently getting about 30 - 35 FPS at the default Shannon (system specs at the end of the post) this drops to about 15FPS at some of the more complex airports like Aerosofts Bremen. I have two questions firstly since the NGX runs outside of FSX are there any programmes I should set my antivirus to ignore in addition to FSX? Secondly I am running FSX without using nhancer or nvidia inspector is it worth me trying either of these programmes ( I ask this as there are so many conflicting opinions on other forums its very confusing). System:- I7 930 @2.93 GHZNvidia GTX 460 1mb6 GB RAMCreative sound cardVelociraptor HDWindows 7 64 bit PS I'm not using a registered version of FSUPIC Many thanks David
  10. I've read the argument of the influence of some 3rd party scenery and the FPS drop when switching on the B744's lights but why will the FPS drop when you switch lights on over the ocean? And why will the same airport (FSDT Vancouver for example) have NO FPS drop when I switch the lights on of a Carenado aircraft that are P3D4 compatible? And if it is only on my system, then I would like to know what is the influence of the QOTSII on my rig because on FSX everything is smooth and NO FPS drop? And lastly - is there a correlation between ORBX night lights and the B744 because in daytime everything is smooth but when the night comes ... ♪♫ ... tralalaa! Must say, I know P3D4 is new on the market and most definitely the future within the 64-bit environment but goodness gracious between the stuttering and shimmering and endless tweaking trying to solve it, it is more of a frustration at the moment than a joy. Accept when I start up the compatible Carenado aircraft and hip-hop over some ORBX terrain scenery like Norway. Then it is all smooth sailing but the moment I turn on the B744 then everything turns off ... and as I say, if my rig is good enough for a very VERY smooth FSX performance then it should surely be more than good enough for P3D4.
  11. I am looking for FPS data.Is there any some data sheets? about FPS improvement, under same airport, airplane, weather. And does prepar3d use multiple core? And How about graphic card? Does prepar3d use some advanced technologies of VGA? kind of shader 3.0 and directx11...(Sorry my English)
  12. Hello guys!I wanna buy a new PC with which the PMDG NGX is running smoothly. That´s the future system:-i5 2500K OC@ 4,5GHz-GTX 560 3GB-8 GB RAMHow many Frames would i get with that system and this situation:PMDG NGX+REX-GEX+Mega Airport FrankfurtWhat do you honestly think how many frames??best regards!Philipp
  13. Is there a way to see what the FPS are in game while flying, or do I have to use some overlay to tell me this? The reason I am asking is that I set the graphics to high, while flying around there seems to be no lag, but when I land and sit there for acouple seconds all of a sudden it loads a bunch more textures.I am currently running an ATI HD5770 @ 1680x1050Also, is there a way to select running DX9, DX10 or DX11 if 11 is in game?
  14. http://youtu.be/7mVzFlceW_IDoes anyone have hints for this problem?I use usepools set to o, so I have the best frames and a most smoothest flying experience in FSX.With other settings t I didn't receive so good frames and more stutters as I have with usepools set to 0.I also receive in turns flashing clouds and vertical black stripes. How can I solve this problem, any constructive suggestions?Thx, sincerely, Tom
  15. Yesterday my P3D installation messed up in the way it is stuck in very low FPS, we are talking about as low as 0.6 frames per second. No matter what I have done to remedy the issue it is stuck in crappy frames and I've tried everything. It lags on the ground but as soon as I pause the sim my fps returns to normal. It also lags as soon as I take off and start flying. This started after I installed the FSLabs A319 latest version for P3D v4, I was doing preflight when all of the sudden my framerate dropped to 3-4. I tried to wait it out but then it kept going, then I restarted my sim but it still lagged now it was down between 1-2 frames now. With this framerate it is unplayable.I have done some experiments so far and I have noticed a few things.- When AI traffic especially airport ground vehicles is turned off then the framerate returns to normal on the ground but when airborne it lags down to 1 frame per second. By pausing the sim it returns to normal, but as soon as its unpaused then it no longer works. - Complex aircraft such as the PMDG 747 loads fine all systems initialize properly, however as soon as I switch out to the external view the sim freezes then becomes unresponsive. Once it does become unresponsive again then it down to 1 frame per second. The sim is currently unflyable at this state, I have deleted the p3d.cfg file and it helped but as soon as I change ANY of the traffic settings it lags down again. The only way to fly the sim is with ALL AI traffic off, so I thought it may have been a few addons I have installed. One of them is the A_A Sceneries Suvarnabhumi Intl Airport, sadly this is not P4D compatible yet and stupid me decided to install that & the AI traffic installer that comes with it. The AI installer ended up adding a bunch of planes and changing the AI flight plans themselves. So the first thing I did was uninstall the scenery (since it kept crashing) and the AI traffic manager that it came with.I also noticed I had AI FSLights Reborn, uninstalled that but to no avail. Then I thought the ground vehicles were corrupted so then what I did was uninstall the ones I had from REX Worldwide Airports HD and restore the default ones I had before, but still nothing. Then while the sim was lagging I was monitoring task manager and I noticed both my CPU is down below 20% and my GPU usage is almost 0%.So then I went through the regular troubleshooting steps for P3D, Here is what I have tried so far:- Deleting the generated files such as Prepar3D.cfg, cameras.cfg, and shader caches (Didnt help) - Deleting/disabling all addons including LSH MD-80, PMDG aircrafts, AS P4D, ASCA, and EZDok. (Didnt help) - Repairing then reinstalling both the client & content from their installers. (Didnt help) - Reinstalling P3D completely (Didnt help) - Repairing all microsoft redistributables (Didnt help) - Updating my graphics driver to latest versions (Didnt help) - Running a AV scan with norton (Didnt help)I am not sure if maybe I got a virus that is interfering with P3D, if I had to guess it must have come from the FSL A319 since I never had any problems with the sim until now. Here are my specs, it's an MSI gaming laptop I have never had any issue playing games. I have Arma 3 and X-Plane 11 installed on it and they work fine, its only P3D that has this issue.Hardware:- NVIDIA GTX 1070 with 8 GB of VRAM- Intel i7-7700 @ 2.6 GHZ (overclocked by default to 3.4 GHZ)- SSD 125 GB- HDD 1 TB, 7000 RPM (this is where P3D is installed since I can't fit it into the C drive)Software:- Prepar3D v4.4- Active Sky for P3D v4- EZDOK P4D beta (uninstalled)- PTA for P3D v4- FS AI Lights Reborn (uninstalled)- Leonardo Maddog MD-82 & MD-83/88- PMDG 777-200LR/300ER- PMDG 747-400/800- FS2Crew for boththe 747 & MD-80- TFDI 717- FSLabs A320/A319 (Uninstalled)Addon Scenery:- Imagine Sim KATL (P4D)- Flightbeam KSFO (P4D)- Flightbeam KDEN (P4D)- LatinVFR KRSW (P4D)- A_A Sceneries VHHH (P4D)- Kansai Airport (P4D)I have also tried regenerating the scenery.cfg but again it still lags.If this is malware, can anyone recommend the best AV to remove it? I don;t know what to do I have tried EVERYTHING in the book, I will give more information if requested if that will help with this issue. Please help, PLEASE its been stressing me out the past day and nothing I have done is helping.
  16. Hi everyone! I have P3D v4.5 hotfix 2 with some addons: ORBX Global OPENLC Rex Sky Force 3D Rex Environment Force PMDG 737ngxu / 747 / 777 Aiports FSLabs 32X. My PC specs: CPU I7 6700(non k), GPU GTX 1660 Super OC, RAM 16gb My p3d.cfg is not edited and i dont use any Nvidia Inspector setting. I Fly around 20/24 fps with the NGXU or the FSLABS and i dont understand why... In xplane 11 with the zibo (4k textures) with the sliders in high and x4SSAA i get +30 fps with a good cpu/gpu usage. I have tried so many things... tweak the cfg, use RTSS, Nvidia Inspector, clean shaders, reinstall P3D, but its imposible for me get a stable FPS and smooth experience in P3D wich is a sim that i really like. 17. Hi all, after installing AIG Manager & Traffic Controller (I followed the included manual as well as two separate highly viewed YT tutorials - just to be sure) I noticed my frames drop from e.g. 60 - 70 FPS at KLAX to around 20 - 25 FPS... Am I missing something? This is what I followed EXACTLY: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbrrArabaLk&t=2052s&ab_channel=2020fs'ers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZKO9dCBSRM&list=WL&index=3&t=334s&ab_channel=2020fs'ers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuHlhSKZ38I&ab_channel=2020fs'ers and also this (just to be sure) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XM415ibRsM&t=1212s&ab_channel=OverKillSimulations The reason I am asking is because I have seen MANY people say that AIG doesn't really impact FPS all that much... 18. I think I finally solved the problem and now have good performance and no stutters. Here is what I did: 1 Start the FS in Full Screen mode. 2 After it starts change to Windowed mode. 3 Minimize the FS. 4 Go to the Task Manager. 5 Remove any running programs, except the FS, that may be usuing SimConnect. I had one other program running that I wasn’t aware of that was using SimConnect. 6 Close that program. 7 Restart FS in Full Screen mode. I was really surprised. The frame rate went back to what it was during the Alpha & Beta period and there were no more stutters. Good Luck and I hope this works.
  19. A lot of you who use P3Dv4 with Active Sky have probably experienced the problem that when flying during sunset/sunrise with a thick overcast cloud layer, your frame rate tanks to unacceptable levels. More than four years ago, I made a video, in which I showed how to improve the performance in P3Dv3 during such conditions. In the following new video, I will revisit this problem, but this time I am using P3Dv4. You will learn how to improve the cloud performance under critical cloud conditions in a very quick, flexible and convenient way. Highly recommended!
  20. Hello PMDG team, cannot wait any longer, when do you gonna release the update?Sorry for questioning once again these stupid questions, but I am a big fan of your work and can't wait any longer for this update. One question more, will the fps ( performance ) be better with this update???Pls respond. Thanks very much indeed.Kind regardsTom
  21. I built my computer about 2 or 3 years ago gutting out everything and rebuilding from the ground up. I got an Nvidia 2080TI GPU, 32GB RAM @ 2400MHz, Ryzen 3 3900 CPU, ran on windows 10, everything installed into SSD drives (add ons are in separate drives due to the shear volume required but still SSDs). I was getting 20-30ish+/- FPS in the air with lots of add-ons and unlocked windows from the VC on my 2nd monitor. I decided to upgrade the CPU to the Ryzen 9 5900 and upgraded to windows 11. Now my FPS are the same. In fact, I fly with a VA that shows the average FPS on the final flight log and in the PMDG 737-900ER, I got an average of 2 FPS LESS than before upgrading CPU and windows. So where is the bottleneck? Is it the RAM speed? I'm considering upgrading to 32GB @ 3600MHz but would that get me better FPS? Google gives mixes reviews on if it will or will not. Is it the settings in P3D or Nvidia? I've watched a ton of videos on YouTube for P3D settings and every one is different than before - not to mention I already run better hardware than them and get half the FPS they do. What do I need to be looking at to get better FPS? I'm still only getting 14-25 on the ground when landing which is pretty bad for such high(er) end hardware.
  22. hello everyone i have problems after sim update 12. because when flying my fps stutters although i have a strong pc but my processor and graphics card have a maximum performance of 40% can someone help me please. see picture link https://ibb.co/FkrqMQH https://ibb.co/8NPVbFP https://ibb.co/vQL1S6V https://ibb.co/xJYxQFb https://ibb.co/sHfpvhL https://ibb.co/SnZc9r2 https://ibb.co/VYStDNw

  25. I wonder if i can indulge a few people to check something out for me. I have been running P3D4 since Jan (switched from FSX). I run sli 980s and have 3 27 inch monitors on an overclocked 4790K. Up until recently I haven't had any complaints about FPS. I managed to finally find what was causing random ndtll.dll faults. So now that I have sorted that out recently I've found that i have a lot of stutters and it seemed to be jerky when landing, especially at night that I didn't experience before (something has changed somewhere). I've played with a lot of the settings including disabling HDR. I get the FPS quite high. Right now when I'm sitting with FSDT PHOG on the runway with PMDG 737 FPS fluctuates around 45 to 48 at night. However if I turn the landing lights on it drops to about 28. I never had that before I don't think because I'm sure I would have noticed. That's a 20 fps hit that doesn't seem right and normal. I've just deleted the shader folder but it's still the same. I'm scratching my head on this one. I've rebuilt the config file too with no success? I've recently updated asp4 and have recently reinstall FSLABS A320 as well as spotlights. Could this be spotlights even though i'm not using the A320? Can somebody test this for me because I don't think my FPS dropped this much before when the lights on at night. SOmething is at work here. I even disabled AA for this test. Norm.
