  1. Further to discussion of the concept demonstration version of the MSFS2020_AutoFPS starting here, the app has now matured to a point to where I am happy to formally release it. You can download the latest version of MSFS2020_AutoFPS here. In summary, this free utility is a new development that is a simplification of, and a slightly different concept to, DynamicLOD_ResetEdition. It aims to improve MSFS performance and smoothness by automatically changing the two settings that impact MSFS performance the most, namely TLOD and cloud quality settings, based on the current AGL and with an easy to use GUI. It provides features such as: Automatically adjusts TLOD to achieve a user-defined target FPS band based on pre or user-defined maximum and minimum TLODs, TLOD minimum on ground/landing option, which prioritises TLOD over FPS during these flight phases and also averts exacerbating existing texture tearing issues with DX12, Cloud quality decrease option for when FPS can't be achieved at the lowest desired TLOD, Automatic pause when MSFS loses focus option, particularly useful if using FG due to varying FPS when MSFS gains or loses focus, Automatic FPS settling timer on MSFS graphics mode and focus changes to allow FPS to stabilise before being acted upon, Simultaneous PC, FG and VR mode compatibilty including correct FG FPS display and separate FPS targets for each mode, A greatly simplified GUI option that uses pre-defined settings for an automated experience suited to most user scenarios, and Auto restoration of original settings changed by the utility. Important: This utility directly accesses active MSFS memory locations while MSFS is running to read and set TLOD and cloud quality settings on the fly at a maximum rate of one read and, if required, change per setting per second. The utility will first verify that the MSFS memory locations being used are still valid and if not, likely because of an MSFS version change, will attempt to find where they have been relocated. If it does find the new memory locations and they pass validation tests, the utility will update itself automatically and will function as normal. If it can't find or validate MSFS memory locations at any time when starting up, the utility will self-restrict to read only mode to prevent the utility making changes to unknown MSFS memory locations. As such, I believe the app to be robust in its interaction with validated MSFS memory locations and to be responsible in disabling itself if it can't guarantee that. Nonetheless, this utility is offered as is and no responsibility will be taken for unintended negative side effects. Use at your own risk! More information, including instructions on how to install, update, uninstall and configure the various options in the app, can be found in the readme file located here. I hope that the app proves useful in getting the most out of your MSFS 2020 experience. I welcome any feedback you have on this app and will do my best to fix any bugs or issues that are identified..
  2. Further to extensive discussion of the initial releases of MSFS2020_AutoFPS here, the app has undergone a major update to version 0.4.2 which was formally released today. You can download the latest version of MSFS2020_AutoFPS here. In summary, this app aims to improve the MSFS user experience by automatically changing key MSFS settings that impact MSFS performance and smoothness the most. It has an easy to use UI and provides features such as: Automatic TLOD adjustment when in the air to achieve and maintain a target FPS, Improved target FPS tracking for all modes by having much smaller TLOD changes the closer you are to your target FPS, giving more consistent FPS for a better flight experience. A choice between VFR and IFR flight types, which changes the flight phases where the app prioritises FPS or TLOD, Auto raising and lowering of the minimum TLOD option, depending on low altitude performance being either very favourable or poor respectively, Auto target FPS option, which is useful if you don't know what target FPS to choose or if your flight types are so varied that a single target FPS value is not always appropriate, Cloud quality decrease option for when FPS can't be achieved at the lowest desired TLOD, Automatic OLOD adjustment option based on an automatic or user-definable OLOD range and altitude band, Simultaneous PC, FG and VR mode compatibilty including correct FG FPS display and separate FPS targets for each mode, A greatly simplified non-expert default UI option that uses pre-defined settings for an automated experience suited to most user scenarios, Auto detection and protection from known similar apps already running or incompatibilities with newer MSFS versions, and Auto restoration of original MSFS settings changed by the app, recently enhanced to withstand MSFS CTDs. More information, including instructions on how to install, update, uninstall and configure the various options in the app, can be found in the readme file located here. As with all earlier releases, I hope that the app proves useful in getting the most out of your MSFS 2020 experience. I welcome any feedback you have on this app and will do my best to fix any bugs or issues that are identified.
  3. Hello! I have uploaded the issue on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SygDZ5K1oQg So this issue started after updating to SU14, any ideas on how to fix?? When i start the sim, everything is fine... Then, at random (It doesnt happen straight away, very weird....) when i switch from a custom wing view to the cockpit, the weird shimmering starts as you can see.... Then i change something simple in the settings and it goes away... any ideas? This did not happen before the update... So to summarize, it does not start like this, my FPS are good, no issues. Then I go to a wing view (custom view), then back to the cockpit and this happens... However, it does not happen everytime, it is very random... Has anyone had any similar issues? Nvidia RTX 4070 i9 9900K 32gb RAM
  4. I'm so frustrated and exhausted.... Before I used CPU E2140 OC @ 2,8Ghz and 2GB RAM with the system in my signature. Medium display settings in Fs9 and AA/AF set to 4x. But it didn't satisfied me, so I upgraded to E5300 OC @4Ghz and added 2GB RAM more. From then I couldn't keep the settings like before, I get lower FPS. And now, even with lower display settings and AA 4x, AF 2x I still get very low FPS. E.g with my old system I can have PMDG 747/MD-11 at FSDT Kenedy KJFK or Aerosoft Frankfurt with acceptable FPS, but now it can go below 10FPS and I can do nothing but watch.I tried to reinstall my fs9 but no luck. Defrag my HDD,use CCleaner to clear some space...nothing can make the situation better. Here is my settings and task manager. I'm very curious at the performance page, why are my CPU usage are very low?(I took this while having Wilco A320 sitting at Flytampa Buffalo and getting only ~10FPS,at Tampa Rebooted ~15FPS) The only way I can think of is reinstalling the whole OS (win7 32bit)
  5. Hello,i have done as PMDG as advised and changed my Aircraft cfg via ******* 'Bojote' Altuve but when i download the last instuction the external fps limiter and click on it and it just flashes a black box and nothing else can some one please help.many thanks you are a great bunch of folks.james.
  6. I normally don't post but.... I have to say I think the NGX is a very good piece of software. Not only does it do all the things that other PMDG add ons have done it also really "feels" like an airliner. All thats missing is the bland food!!! I am currently getting about 30 - 35 FPS at the default Shannon (system specs at the end of the post) this drops to about 15FPS at some of the more complex airports like Aerosofts Bremen. I have two questions firstly since the NGX runs outside of FSX are there any programmes I should set my antivirus to ignore in addition to FSX? Secondly I am running FSX without using nhancer or nvidia inspector is it worth me trying either of these programmes ( I ask this as there are so many conflicting opinions on other forums its very confusing). System:- I7 930 @2.93 GHZNvidia GTX 460 1mb6 GB RAMCreative sound cardVelociraptor HDWindows 7 64 bit PS I'm not using a registered version of FSUPIC Many thanks David
  7. Hello All, I fly mostly in VC with NGX. I just noticed a strange problem recently: When the NGX is first loaded up in 2D panel, I would get 20-35fps in busy airports like the FSDT JFK and on air I get way above 30s FPS, then I swithch to VC I get around 16-25fps on airports. But when I switch back to 2D panel from VC I get heavy FPS hit down to around 9-12fps. So my VC FPS is now high than in 2D panel! Does anyone know why this is happening? I never had this happen before with other add-on, but it seems to happen on all my PMDG aircraft now. Any suggestion is really appreciated! 8. Hello, Right after passing transition altitude (18000ft in this case), I pressed the STD button on the EFIS to standardize the barometric pressure settings as usual. Before I pressed the button, FPS was at a good 23. Afterwards... well see for yourselves:
  9. Hi all, after installing AIG Manager & Traffic Controller (I followed the included manual as well as two separate highly viewed YT tutorials - just to be sure) I noticed my frames drop from e.g. 60 - 70 FPS at KLAX to around 20 - 25 FPS... Am I missing something? This is what I followed EXACTLY: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbrrArabaLk&t=2052s&ab_channel=2020fs'ers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZKO9dCBSRM&list=WL&index=3&t=334s&ab_channel=2020fs'ers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuHlhSKZ38I&ab_channel=2020fs'ers and also this (just to be sure) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XM415ibRsM&t=1212s&ab_channel=OverKillSimulations The reason I am asking is because I have seen MANY people say that AIG doesn't really impact FPS all that much... 10. I am looking for FPS data.Is there any some data sheets? about FPS improvement, under same airport, airplane, weather. And does prepar3d use multiple core? And How about graphic card? Does prepar3d use some advanced technologies of VGA? kind of shader 3.0 and directx11...(Sorry my English)
  11. Hello guys!I wanna buy a new PC with which the PMDG NGX is running smoothly. That´s the future system:-i5 2500K OC@ 4,5GHz-GTX 560 3GB-8 GB RAMHow many Frames would i get with that system and this situation:PMDG NGX+REX-GEX+Mega Airport FrankfurtWhat do you honestly think how many frames??best regards!Philipp
  12. Is there a way to see what the FPS are in game while flying, or do I have to use some overlay to tell me this? The reason I am asking is that I set the graphics to high, while flying around there seems to be no lag, but when I land and sit there for acouple seconds all of a sudden it loads a bunch more textures.I am currently running an ATI HD5770 @ 1680x1050Also, is there a way to select running DX9, DX10 or DX11 if 11 is in game?
  13. http://youtu.be/7mVzFlceW_IDoes anyone have hints for this problem?I use usepools set to o, so I have the best frames and a most smoothest flying experience in FSX.With other settings t I didn't receive so good frames and more stutters as I have with usepools set to 0.I also receive in turns flashing clouds and vertical black stripes. How can I solve this problem, any constructive suggestions?Thx, sincerely, Tom
  14. hello everyone i have problems after sim update 12. because when flying my fps stutters although i have a strong pc but my processor and graphics card have a maximum performance of 40% can someone help me please. see picture link https://ibb.co/FkrqMQH https://ibb.co/8NPVbFP https://ibb.co/vQL1S6V https://ibb.co/xJYxQFb https://ibb.co/sHfpvhL https://ibb.co/SnZc9r2 https://ibb.co/VYStDNw
  15. I built my computer about 2 or 3 years ago gutting out everything and rebuilding from the ground up. I got an Nvidia 2080TI GPU, 32GB RAM @ 2400MHz, Ryzen 3 3900 CPU, ran on windows 10, everything installed into SSD drives (add ons are in separate drives due to the shear volume required but still SSDs). I was getting 20-30ish+/- FPS in the air with lots of add-ons and unlocked windows from the VC on my 2nd monitor. I decided to upgrade the CPU to the Ryzen 9 5900 and upgraded to windows 11. Now my FPS are the same. In fact, I fly with a VA that shows the average FPS on the final flight log and in the PMDG 737-900ER, I got an average of 2 FPS LESS than before upgrading CPU and windows. So where is the bottleneck? Is it the RAM speed? I'm considering upgrading to 32GB @ 3600MHz but would that get me better FPS? Google gives mixes reviews on if it will or will not. Is it the settings in P3D or Nvidia? I've watched a ton of videos on YouTube for P3D settings and every one is different than before - not to mention I already run better hardware than them and get half the FPS they do. What do I need to be looking at to get better FPS? I'm still only getting 14-25 on the ground when landing which is pretty bad for such high(er) end hardware.
  16. Hello PMDG team, cannot wait any longer, when do you gonna release the update?Sorry for questioning once again these stupid questions, but I am a big fan of your work and can't wait any longer for this update. One question more, will the fps ( performance ) be better with this update???Pls respond. Thanks very much indeed.Kind regardsTom
  17. Hey all, pretty much what the title says. I will do a flight from point A ---> B and my FPS will gradually start falling, especially at "the end" (approach & landing). However if I exit the game and load back into the destination (or departure) airport, with all of the same settings as before, my FPS is once again "normal". Let me give you an example: I did a VERY short flight (only about 1hr - keep in mind the FPS drop is similar during much longer flights) from LJLJ (Ljubljana, Slovenia - Scenic Routes) ---> LKPR (Prague, Czech Republic - Tailstrike Designs) with the PMDG 737-800. I have a very nice system (5900X, RTX3090, 32GB RAM, 980 Pro, etc. etc.). Anyways, I started with 48 FPS (I have V-Sync enabled and my frames locked at 33 % to avoid conflicts due to a G-Sync monitor) and landed with only about 24ish. After shutdown I decided to disable FSLTL traffic to see if I maybe just need to restart FSLTL Traffic. The FPS only went up to about... 30ish. I then proceeded to close the game and launch it, spawn back in with the same weather, settings and mods (yes, even FSLTL was active), and was getting 46ish FPS.. Basically, I'll usually be getting anywhere from 60-70 FPS with my FPS unlocked and then it drops to anywhere from 40-50 FPS with FSLTL Traffic (for most bigger airports), but never bellow 30 FPS. I try to configure my settings this way, but obviously I don't do hundreds of test flights just to see what kind of drop I should really expecting.. Does anyone know how to mitigate this "issue"? MODS (in this particular case): PMDG 737-800 Scenic Routes – LJLJ Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport Tailstrike Designs – LKPR Vaclav Havel Airport Prague FSLTL Traffic FSRealistic FS2Crew PMDG 737 SOP 1 Other apps open during flight: Navigraph Simlink SimToolKitPro
  18. Hi, Now I know that PMDG isn't a company for skimping on details, but just as a thought, could you have made this plane a little less FPS intensive (or with more flexible options for tuning graphic settings within the aircraft) for users with lower end systems? I know there are quite a few people out there who were mildly disappointed by the way the aircraft performs on their more "budget oriented" rigs. My system surpasses the minimum requirements for the airplane, but that still means 4-8 FPS in flight over Southern Illinois (not a very scenery-filled area ) with graphics settings at near lowest possible, except for Global Texture Resolution, of course. With the 747-400X i was getting 30 fps (capped) solid using the same settings. My processor is not good at all, but it is just something I have to make do with. I have 7 32-bit, which limits memory, but upgrading to 64-bit would mean a clean install and I simply do not have the time to do this. I've got to wait now until I purchase an entirely new system. Thanks for working so hard to make a truly excellent product, hopefully someday I'll be able to use it! Feel free to post any suggestions regarding FPS gains on this forum (I already read the intro manual and took all of those suggestions). Sincerely, Dylan
  19. I downloaded the external FPS Limiter and unzipped it, double clicked on the FPS Limiter.exe file and saw a flash of what looked like a command prompt screen. It does not stay on. My file manager says it is running but I don't know for sure and I am not able to set any settings. Anyone got any ideas about what is going on? While running FSX with internal FPS set to unlimited and flying the FPS are running in the 50s to 60s and are not steady.
  20. Hi guys, I was wondering how much of a factor CPU speed is on NGX performance. For example, would an upgrade from 2330 hz to 3060 hz make a difference with FPS? I started considering this after I noticed that every time I try to run the NGX, my CPU usage stays firmly locked at 100% until crashing. Thanks in advance, Regards Dylan
  21. Hi, I just recently installed PMDG 737NGX on my brand new machine that I just builded for FSX, and I am experiencing a hugh drop (50%) in FPS when flying with 737 NGX. If I fly with the default 737 or any other, I have no problem with performance. I get somewhere around 12 FPS and I usally get 25 - 30 FPS. I just hope that 12 FPS is not normal because I understand that this aircraft uses a lot of CPU resourses due to overall detail of aircraft and systems on board. In addition, I experience other issues like CTD "fatal error message" when I end the flight - this happens 50% of the time. Also, If I go to map during the flight and whant to come back to the game, my screen gets all messed up, or if I have to go to desktop: same thing. I appreciate any help on this. Thanks.
