FSAddon Publishing link Shock

That was pretty uncalled for Mesa, whoever you are. Why don't you post your real name in your sig, as per AVSIM rules, rather than do a drive-by hit on someone in these forums? What is it with the drive-by's by no-names today?
Agreed. It's well past time for everyone to review the AVSIM forums terms of use. A link is provided in my signature for your convenience. Let's all remain civilized please.

In my opinion it's Francois's website he can post what he likes. And if you are bothered by what he posted, maybe you think it was directed at you. I am not bothered by it at all.

Not to stick a bee up anyone's bonnet, but I read the rules as linked and did not see where it says you are required to post your real name in your sig.Did I miss something?Joe

I read them the same way. The first name/last name requirement seems to apply to the information you provide Avsim at registration, not to the information in your signature. Are we all getting that wrong?Alan

Is this right? In order for a torrent site to have files, someone has to supply a copy of files that are valid..as in purchased and registered. So it is a purchaser that has provided the first copy for the torrents to start with? Not that it matters in the end.. I was just curious...

Nope, I read that the same way, but am prepared to stand corrected. The problem is that some people aren't even doing that.

Do the shoes fit? If not, what's there to stir up so much passion? :(

I have mentioned this "tactic" of FSAddon Publishing which I was greeted with too after following the link via the banner ad on the front page here at AVSIM in a couple of other discussions regarding software piracy.Imagine my surprise to find their attempt at a forced lecture on software piracy after having just pulled my credit card out of my wallet before heading downstairs to my computer room to purchase it! Yup, there I was, eagerly anticipating a new FSX "toy" with my credit card in hand but instead of being redirected to the product description/ordering page found myself reading a letter addressed to software pirates. For me it made all the difference. I turned off my rig, walked upstairs, put my credit card back in my wallet, and that as they say is that.I refuse to be treated like a criminal when I pride myself on not being one. OrbX with their recent "shut down" tactic which did nothing but inconvenience LEGITIMATE customers and now neoqb with their 100% online all the time requirement to even play Rise of Flight in single player mode are two, much more blatant examples, of companies willing to do anything, however detrimental to their legitimate, paying customers to take a shot at software pirates, which for the record, ARE NOT one and the same. How does it make sense to lose revenue to software piracy (a sad but true given to some degree in today's world), and then to deliberately set oneself up to lose even more sales indirectly to software piracy, by turning off would-be legitimate, paying customers?I won't purchase these products because I refuse to accept being treated like the software pirate I never have been and never will be. I haven't stolen anything from anybody ever and am not about to start doing so now. There is easily $10,000 usd worth of flight-simming software and hardware in my computer room. The only hobby of mine that gets more of my discretionary income is realworld general aviation.Treat me like a thief, and watch my money and me walk in another direction. Enough is enough. Non-intrusive or non-limiting copy protection give me all you can. But start limiting my license or ability to use your product when I am a legitimate, paying customer, that is going to far in my book.As a matter of fact, when I visit your website with my credit card in hand to purchase your product and you still feel a need to greet me with a lecture on software piracy, which is an impossibility as regards me personally, that is going to far in my book too.Nope, no Tongass Fjords for me. Too bad, I really like to support the companies that make the products I enjoy using, especially the products of superior quality.

I was the O.P. Joe your comment must be directed at me. If so why would you think that because I brought it up that I wanted to see the product and not get a lesson in theft . I feel for the guys but I can't stop their theft problem and the link off Avsim did not help me in looking at what I wanted to see and maybe buy. I was just pointing this out to FSAddons that it can turn people off . Francois did explain why he did it yet a customer really has little time in some cases to go though all that and still look for what they wanted to see in the first place.I did not start this thread to fight with some posters. I started it to explain some of us feel like the honest guy who really buys products gets a little turned off by the way we are all guilty because somebody did it. I guess a software thief may have followed a link off Avsim to a product they wanted to look at to steel but more then likely not.

I didn't buy it because I didn't see a coverage map and wasn't sure if there would be any cool place to fly in 737s like Misty Fjords had.I doubt I would be deterred from a product I wanted because of an editorial, though, especially if it was not directed at me. Perhaps after the offending page is removed people will reconsider.

The page started off by saying:"Dear Torrent and Pirate Bay visitorsYou know who you are

The Flight Sim world is getting stranger and stranger. Why does Google return the torrent links in the first place, does a information kiosk at a mall tell shoppers where to shop lift?

Processor: Intel Core i7 [email protected]

Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX670 OC

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1866 [9-9-9-24-2T]

The page started off by saying:"Dear Torrent and Pirate Bay visitorsYou know who you are

It tells you where every store is, then you decide if you are going to shoplift or not.Google tells you where the files are, then you decide if you are going to steal them or not.

So you really think this has the pirates running to shut down the torrent sites and remove said pirated material ?
I've checked my post and I can't seem to find anywhere in it where I indicated that pirates would be running to shut down torrent sites and remove pirated material. Feel free to re-read my post and show me where I even hinted at such a suggestion. Instead what I was saying is that I don't see how a simple message on there home page could cause such frustration.
