Anyone tried this? Flight ProSim

You've refused to answer exactly what point you are trying to make here. You haven't answered this:Is it morally wrong (for a 3rd party) to grab an open source program, such as FlightGear and repackage it (without providing much/or any added value to it), and sell it for a high price?
I'll answer it. It isn't morally wrong. They have found something they can legally sell for more than it costs them. That's what all businesses do. I assume you don't object to that principle, so it must just be the price you're objecting to. You don't have to buy it and if it's overpriced it won't sell - the market will see to that.
Good grief, this has nothing to do with PMDG - in case you've forgotten the issue here is FlightGear and FlightSimPro. + the product above from PMDG is not open source so its completely irrelevant to bring it up here.
I have no problem at all with PMDG, its products, or its pricing. I used it as an example because you said:
Who's being ripped off you say? How about the people that buy this for $47, while they can have it for free at the same time.
How about the people that buy the 747-400 for $79.99 while they can have it for $29.99 at the same time.In both cases they've paid about $50 than they need have, so are they both being ripped off?

I do not understand your anger at my posts and I am not getting involved in this. Your concept of morality is obviously different from mine. I think its wrong to hideously overprice any product...
Two points:1. You are perceiving "anger" in someone's reply when there is none present. This behavior is known as "projection." You are projecting your own "anger" and/or "frustration" into other's replies. It may also be a case of isogesis rather than exegesis.2. You seem to be conflating two separate concepts as though they are synonyms: "moral" and "wrong." They are not.Not everything that is "wrong" is immoral. All things that are "immoral" are also "wrong."As another respondent has pointed out:Overpricing in a monoplistic environment is both "wrong" and "immoral"Overpricing in a free market is neither "wrong" nor "immoral." It is simply stupid...

That's a very big (and inaccurate) assumption you've made there. I can only hope you don't make these too often.

I feel we are loosing the original discussion into FlightGear and FlightSimPro and are descending into numerous other little topics (some of which are completely irrelevant to this topic). I've said all I'm going to say, I hope this discussion can get back on track.

Bill, nice...Thanks.I fail to see where this thread has gotten off course. The OP pointed out a new (?) sim, and the discussion went to how correct the idea of selling this sim is. I find these threads, regardless of how off topic they go, far more interesting than the usual " how do I turn off flight hints". And Hanger Chat is a great place to air differences, as long as everyone uses their head and stays cool.Bob

Correct, it was your own insistence to turn it into the discussion on morality that put this discussion on a wrong track.

Can someone please point me to the civilized forums? Enough with the petty bickering and back to the topic at hand please.

It has been confirmed on other forums it is a scam..i hope Flight Gear wont bother trying to make a useless lawsuit on them

Can you provide links to this "confirmation"? "Scam" in terms of what? Is he collecting money but not delivering any product? Or are people calling this a scam because FlightGear is freely available? I think that's been discussed here already, so what new information do you have?-John

None. :( :( :(
