October 15, 200916 yr WHAT ABOUT! WHAT ABOUT! What about the word FOUNDRY!I think they're working on an IRON SMELTING simulator!!WHAT ABOUT! WHAT ABOUT! What about Cascade... hmm.EUREKA! A DISHWASHING DETERGENT SIMULATOR!!!!!!!!111!!1111!!!BBQ!Sorry for the over the top sarcasm. I'm just being amused by the back-and-forth. People getting excited...Others telling them or preferring not to...Others adding their spin...Others telling others to tell others to have differing opinions...(You know, the classic Internet forum food chain.)That, and I'm peeved that my "first posts" of this news here and on another site end up second fiddle to latecomers who used exclamation points and breaking news tags. Sensationalism - not just for Access Hollywood! (I know, it's petty of me. Bah. Whatever. Sudafed and a strong cold do not make good bedfellows with forum posts!) Please do carry on. I can only watch so many DVR'ed episodes of the Office before I need a break, and this is just as good. Can we get a release date on that BBQ simulator? :)
October 16, 200916 yr I posted earlier on this subject and thought these guys were going down the ESP route but at times actually reading the lines rather than trying to read between them can be more insightful. So here goes. The Cascade Games Foundry: "announced their entry into the simulation marketplace".The simulator genre is a subset of computer games. Yea I know, some people don't think a simulation is a game, but there it is. "to create a portfolio of products which will appeal to both aficionados and people new to the genre".Aficionados does not suggest professional organisations, but rather enthusiasts like ourselves. Even their title suggests their interests lie in games (of the simulation genre) and not professional ESP type products..but who knows where it might lead them. Definately two target markets they want to address though and we're one of them. "will address the significant hole in the simulation market left by Microsoft No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea. October 16, 200916 yr but , but the post made back Jan 26th 09 first paragraph, last sentence.http://www.fsinsider.com/news/Pages/AMessageFromAces.aspxwhen I clicked onto his blog url .. it takes me here http://www.futuregpu.org/I wonder if someone has started to kick the wastepaper basket at this news
October 16, 200916 yr Huuhhh????I own many Aerosoft products and had rarely issues with them. The very few times I needed Aerosoft's support, it was excellent! In addition, are you aware that Aerosoft is mainly a publisher for products of other designers - e. g. for the whole PMDG portfolio?WolfgangTotally agree with you Wolfgang. Aerosoft's products and support is superb in my opinion. I feel their commitment to the Flight Simulator genre should be commended even though it is the backbone of their business. Rhydian

I stopped blogging recently, as well as posting in places like beyond3d.com forums because both the ATI-NV-Intel sniping and the leaks on LRB are biblical and I dont want to give Intel IT Police anything to hassle me with. Looks like I need to pay my domain renewal fee :-).from all I know, there is still a small group at MS under Pat Cook working on the new "F-Live" or whatever they are going to call it. that includes core FS people from Aces.Kathy ( PM ) and Rick ( design ) were 2 of the leads on TrainSim2 ( Jamie Osborne was the dev lead, Jennifer D was test lead ) and are both talented individuals. I heard they had something going unofficially, looks like it became official. good for them. I would wait until they indicate what genre they are aiming for and assume nothing. ex-Aces Lead PM, FSX SP1 and SP2 ex-Intel LRB native title enablement, ex Intel Gaming and Graphics Samples PM now Graphics and Multicore PM in Visual Computing Software Enabling.
October 16, 200916 yr Thanks Phil.. I know speculation runs wild with these things.. what seems odd is people not willing to accept that just because MS closed Aces it doesn't mean they got rid of everybody.

It is always a shame when some one as talented as yourself and so willing to engage with the community is prevented from doing so in a practical way by some selfish, short-sighted and self centred prats! That's the nature of the Internet I suppose and guess it won't ever change. In the meantime its good to hear you are still one of the key folks on the Larrabbe project. Thanks for that little bit of background on MS and CGF. It will indeed to be interesting to see what eventuates from both of these groups. Oh...and dont forget to pay your domain fee..... :( All the best mate. No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea. Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower! October 17, 200916 yr Well this thread is going to get a whole lot busier now that you have chimed in Phil. Good to "see" you again. I think this is a time of excitement and I look forward to the FS community getting a whole lot busier with Microsoft/CGF and Aerosoft's newly announced plans to develop a platform. In the meantime I am enjoying FSX immensely.Best regards,Robert \Robert Hamlich/

Also no evidence that it's planning a flight simulator - though Aerosoft is. Gerry Howard

October 20, 200916 yr These are interesting opinions, certainly provide for entertaining reading but how close they area from real truth? So far I have not see any concrete evidence that they botched the software. And I am afraid the evidence would have to come in the form of another flight simulation with comparable graphics/features but significantly improved performance. Unless such a day comes I am afraid this just ... singin in the rain.+1 FSX is an excellent product enhanced by many amazing 3rd party add-ons. Matthew S
