Mitch you should be a salesman, lol.I almost want to drag out the 4 FS9 disks to reinstall it and see how it is on modern hardware. Now that REX is available for FS9 it would sure make a difference. I still have all my addons for FS9 on my backup HD just in case I ever wanted to try it out. I have UT and GE Pro for FS9 and I agree that Ge Pro was pretty good, especially compared to the stock FS9 textures. I guess the only addon I would need if I was going to retry FS9 would be REX. Maybe when I have some spare time I will give it a try, although since I have FSX working so well and mostly just fly tubes, i'm not so sure FS9 would benefit me at all since I get good performance with high levels of AI at major hubs. Plus I just added the bloom plug in and that really increased the overall look.Curosity will probably get the best of me and I will give it a shot. I knew I should have bought the 1TB hard drive instead of the 500 GB, darn.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------After the last couple of days, I'd say "Ah,...just jump back in,...buy that 1TB puppy..and enjoy the FPS performance fluidity with anything you throw at it. With your system spec's...it's a 'no brainer!' If you don't have the two programs I have been gushing over, consider getting them. They really put the .75 in the FS9.(x) equation. :)Have fun, CMP! Hey Mitch'er.Lets see lots of Screen Shots from you showing us all how good this looks.I am on the fence, leaning over to the Buy side, but would love to see some Un-Edited shots (Without the Bloom please) so we can all see and make up our own mind. Many thanks.

Steve.

Unlike the British Government, I actually Learn from my Mistakes..........

Windows XP Professional SP3, ABIT IC7 MAX3 MotherBoard, Intel P4 3.40GHz HT, 4Gigs RAM, Hercules Digifire Sound Card, Geforce 7800GS 512RAM Graphics Card, FS9.1, REX, ASv6.5, GE pro.FE.

I getting a bit excited too. I have all these add-ons I can't use in FSX like the PSS Concorde, PSS Airbus, PMDG 737NG, and so on. BUT I have a question about the improvements to the MESH and LANDCLASS in FS9. Do either of these products GEPII or REX2004 affect the mesh and landclass? Then again we could also get FSGenesis mesh and landclass.Enlighten me!Where is Ground Environment Pro II ?????

HelloGEpro provides texture for ground and sky(no clouds)REX 2004 provides Clouds, sky , water, runway/taxiway texturesFSgenesis will greatly improve terrain elevationUltimate terrain will sort out those coastlines roads and provide landclass to place those GEPro textures in the right placeGEpro is here:http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=gepro

Steve, Here are some screens of FS9 with the following addons: FS Genesis mesh\landclass, GE Pro, REX FS2004, ASA, Wilco A319, Quality Wings 757. The Airbus shots are over Eastern Pennsylvania. The 757 shots are inbound to Dublin Ireland at about 0800. None of these photos have been altered other than resized.

Not on my 3+ year old computer. Locked at 30FPS.All I have is 30FPS Locked. AI Traffic at 100%, don't care for auto gen without alpha fade, ASA for weather, and X Graphics for clouds.UTXGEXI still am looking at FS10.75!!
lolWe all know there is a lot more to FSX performance than auto-gen. FSAA/AF/Resolution/Road traffic/Water Settings/Cloud Resolution/etc.. etc.. all need to be factored in. I see folks stating they get 30 fps all the time in FSX with "most sliders" to the right. I always laugh when I see this because it only takes a few sliders to the left to make FSX look pretty "plain". I can take one situation in FSX and lock the sim at 60 fps and get that performance constantly. I can change a few factors and drop that performance level down by a factor of 3x-5x in a split second. As an aside, some folks around here (not directed at you Jim) seem to think that the only people who use FS9 are those who have too. They are sadly mistaken.

I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3

It needs GE, REX, AS, FS Global, Enhancer, good PC, and a lot of RTFM, and forget FSX.. thats it.

why would you need ge pro since rex2004 already has sky textures? just get the regular ge. i will be getting soon u.t, ge, fs global, and rex2004.

Hellobecause the Textures in GE Pro are nicer than GE, totally different set I own both and they are both great but GE pro is nicer
Is REX2004 incredibly better than FE2004? I'd like to hear from someone who has both.Cheers, SLuggy
Yes, I would like to find that out too. I am running FS2004 on dual core 1.73Ghz Laptop and Vista and it runs just fine. Would REX run similarly well? I am also running VOZ 1.8 for ground textures for Australia - Will GE Pro 11 interfere with that or can I run VOZ in Australia and GE PRo 11 elsewhere?Gerry
I have both and the big difference is performance. FE2004's cloud texture file size is large causing serious problems within the sim (at least for me). REX's clouds look much nicer and actually enhance cloud performance do to texture and file size. That's just one area, everything else about REX is better than FE2004 with the exception being the background sky textures.

then i revise my purchase: U.T, GE Pro, FS Global 2010 and REX2004.

You have sold me Mitcher. 9.75 - I like it. Now where can I buy boxed copies of both in Australia? PC Aviator doesn't seem to have either.Gerry

In the Real Environmnet Xtreme program on the Options tab you can choose different size 3D cloud resolutions. Try different sizes starting with the smallest.

You may be right but since I use REX now I'm going to leave well enough alone. No matter how you cut it REX's clouds and environment look the best when you put the two side by side. REX I can't put down and the other is gone from my system for the most part (I still like the GA taxiway textures from FSElemental). No scenery program is the end all, I still use AS 6.5's background sky texture from my previous setup, I still use custom night lighting for cities at night as I feel GE Pro's textures are too dark (I just installed GE Pro over GE last night), Zinertek's water is the best you can get for FS9, and there's some freeware airport textures floating around here that liven up the default fields around FS that have default scenery. Zinertek offers a similar package to liven up the default airports which looks like it's worth a look.So there you have it but to the question of FSElemental and Rex there's no comparison as REX wins this one in my book.
