I now own FS9.75....

Add FTX and you have FS12
FS2004 plus FSX plus Acceleration multiplied by REX cubed divided by the square root of Flight Unlimited equals FSX-Plane 9.1.

Wow, looks we just fell off the deep end here...All this equals up to X-Plane 9.1 (with a sprinkle of FSX thrown in there). :( :(

Hi AllBeen reading this thread and i must say it is looking good. I have just installed FS9 on my new machine and have been scouring the forums for ideas on how to jazz up FS9.The add on that a had on my last machine were: FsGlobal2008, FS Scene Vol 1 to 3.They all seem outdated now from what you have been saying, so i have purchased REX and thats on its way. On my travels i have also heard about Ultimate Night Enviroment 2007, Ultimate Terrain Europe and A2A Sim 3D Lights Redux. So add these to what you have already mentioned, so now in your valuable opinions, what would be the complete perfect list of enviroment addons for FS2004 ie, FS9, REX and so on.ThanksMark

i recommend FS global 2010, U.T, REX2004, and GE Pro

Well it now looks like i will spending a bit more and selling some of my now obsolete add ons, thanks allmark

FS F9ntastic!I'm a long-time GE Pro user, and couldn't agree more.Look at the way the autogen aligns in the picture below. But I also am a long-time Flight Environment user, and was loathe to dump that.So I dropped Pablo's phenomenal freeware photoreal cumulus onto the mix, with quite a reasonable result I think.B777.jpgI have another sim install using only freeware, which I'd rate FS9++.Many many things possible with this flight simulator, many more to come yet!

I'm telling you bro, now all that needs to be done is improve the ground texture resolution just like in FSX and FS9 becomes FS9X; its already FS9.75 or whatever version you guys are saying it is now ever since REX came out for FS9. The developers of GE need to make another major update for that, and I'll bet alot alot of people will flock back to FS9. I read on other forums that some already returned back to FS9 because of REX. In my opinion, the only difference between FS9 and FSX is the ground texture resolution and a slight improvement in the autogen, but thats it.

It's great to see so many happy fs 2004 cheerleaders. LOLI wish that I could just give up my fsx sp2 with GEX, UTX, Orbx, REX and the L-39. It's just not going to happen for me. Those of you who think that fs9 looks just as good or almost as good as fsx, have never seen fsx with rex, orbx, and the l-39. You have no idea of what you're missing.Maybe when the hardware catches up you can then try fsx and all the great available add-ons, maybe then you will be a believer. I've seen fs9 and all of it's glory. I'm glad that it still brings you joy. It took long enough. LOL When you are ready to graduate to FSX, Orbx PNW will be available and these great feeling will come back for you again.I'm not an fs9 hater. I'm just having some fun too. :(

I'm glad your happy with FSX. I tried FSX and again, the only improvement I've seen is the ground texture resolution. Also, the glow effect you get in FSX you can download HDR plug-in and get that in FS9 also. I'm telling you, FS9 can still come back hard, all it needs is a major improvement in the ground texture. my system specs:AMD Phenom II X2 550 4GB DDR3 1333mhz (6-6-6-20) M4A78T-E 790GX285 GTX 1GIGEX-1200 PSU300GB 10,000 RPM

That's not going to happen.

You mean to tell me that you have tried FSX sp2 with UTX, GEX, Orbx, REX, and the L-39?When I look at fs 2004 on my screen with all it's add-ons, here's what I see:Less detail in the cockpits.Less detailed aircraft. (no L-39)Less ground texture detail. (No Orbx)Less cloud detail. (REX) is not RE 2004Less water detail including the reflections. The weather is not as good as in fsx.Less autogen.Do I need to continue? There's so much more in fsx that I don't even want to continue. You do need the hardware to run it and all the add-ons.But to say that fs 2004 is only 25% less than FSX and all it's glory, it's just plain foolish and ignorant. Until a person experiences FSX and all of it's greatness, one can't really say that fs 2004 is almost as good. As, I said, all I'm doing is having some fun.

im satisfied with fs9. :) with my REX2004, U.T. GE Pro and FS Global 2010

HelloI have been there and returned to FS9 and I don't consider myself foolish and ignorant.I have REX in both sims.I consider the water in FSX to be way over done and totally unrealistic inlandThe weather is worse, have you seen what passes for rain and snow in FSX.Basically the ground textures are of a higher resolution but the default textures and landclass were a bad joke in FSX.Way more Addons available for FS9, and I own most of them.Enjoy whatever Sim you want, I run both. But please don't call FS9 users foolish and ignorant, makes you look a bit silly

I use both. I do not agree that FS9 is amost as good as FSX. In truth, I believe FS9 is still markedly better as an overall sim platform. The weather in FSX is still maddeningly flaky, with the wind shift demon still rearing its ugly head from time to time. ASA, arguably the best wx add-on for FSX still shoots down airplanes with crazy-high temp excursions and schizophrenic wind shifts well over a year after release. AS 6.5, the FS9 bellwether, is as reliable as you can get. I don't understand how anyone can characterize FSX's weather as better than FS9.The water detail and reflections in FSX don't look like anything what I remember in my time flying to many destinations in the Pacific and Atlantic. I've never been able to see detailed wave action from cruise at flight level in the real world...seeing a bunch of artificial reflection effects where I shouldn't be seeing them may be cool from the standpoint of appreciating what a good video card can do, but it isn't, you know, realistic. The number and density of fake-looking autogen palm trees and buildings isn't all-important. The autogen seemed to be taking a step in the right direction when FS was still being developed, but what FSX ended up with when it was summarily orphaned by MicroShaft is every bit as artificial as FS9, maybe just a bit more densely artificial. There are a few VCs in FSX that do dramatically exceed what was possible in FS9. Just don't try flying one of them into the New York area in FSX. In FS9, however, I can maintain frame rates in the 40s with the best-of-class add-ons into complex add-on sceneries in the most dense traffic areas like NY, London, and Tokyo.And...speaking of complex sceneries, FSX is still a veritable wasteland when it comes to quality scenery add-ons. Three and a half years into FSX, there's only one decent high-quality add-on for FSX on the entire US west coast (ImagineSim's San Jose). in FS9 I have KSEA, KPDX, KSFO, KLAX, KSAN, and KSJC.FSX is different than FS9...yes. Better than FS9? Sorry, from the persective of piloting vs sightseeing I still can't agree with that.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO
