January 24, 201016 yr Hi,Has anyone had a chance to try this addon and what is their opinion? The website seems to have very little info about it. :( I would rather see the FS9 pink guide me then have to pull up yet another add on or even better have something like this incorporated with a EFB. Hint Hint :(
January 24, 201016 yr I dont think I have a real opinion on this particular add-on but I do find it interesting that these add-ons released for FSX get developed for FS9 when it seems some companies with forums on Avsim are claiming FS9 is dead. I find with the release of REX 2.0 that seemed to have sold pretty well in FS9 (I got that one) and Aerosoft ended up releasing Luxembourg airports not originally supposed to be released for FS9. I guess I have no hard data just seems to be a trend I notice from the "outside" looking in. By the way this is the first and last time I comment on this I just needed to say something maybe no one cares anyway. Sorry for hijacking the thread flyfisher. Andrew
January 24, 201016 yr I would rather see the FS9 pink guide me then have to pull up yet another add on or even better have something like this incorporated with a EFB.I double that. I don't own it but judging from the (one or two only) screenshots, it looks like a very simplified chart with no description at all. Airport layouts do change and it also goes for taxiway and stand numbering / naming. I'd rather stick to using my up-to-date paper charts or an application (agree with the hint) that can display real aerodrome charts. So, all in all, I wouldn't be interested in this addon even if it was released free in the avsim library. But, of course, the choice is always yours. Respect.Just my two eurocents.
January 24, 201016 yr Well, this utility could be immensely valuable to me when using Radar Contact 4. It could easily bring me to the runway, since, as you know, RC4 doesn't do ground handling, sadly. So, I too, would like to know how this addon is. If it really does guide you in a correct manner to the runway without being dependent on default ATC, then I'd think it's worth my money when I buy RC4. January 24, 201016 yr RC5 will not be so "sad". It is still quite away off to release with no hard date.FWIW if you need gate identifications on a chart I print out the AFCAD view of the section I'm interested in. You can also get a cramped ID airport diagram.I use printed airport charts for taxiing even with guidance. FAA airport diagrams and IFR charts are available from flightaware.com in single or bundled fashion at no charge. It is easier to navigate in my opinion than the FAA site. On the printed airport diagram I mark the location of some gates I'm likely to use as determined from viewing AFCAD. Also if you want to determine the section of a large airport you need to go to very often you can find a web site for that airport with terminal/gate floor diagrams by airline.UK charts/diagrams are here:http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/public/index...;Itemid=13.htmlunder the IAIP section/ specific airport index. Note that registration/login is no longer required here.If a multi-terminal airport is used you can often find it on Wikipedia. Here's an example:Here's KMDW:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KMDW#Terminal...nd_destinationsand London Heathrow:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EGLL#Airlines_and_destinations Well, this utility could be immensely valuable to me when using Radar Contact 4. January 24, 201016 yr I don't need gate identifications - if I needed those I could use one of the many charts I printed out. I need the directions from the terminal to the runway (I usually go to and land at AES airport, so going from runway to terminal usually is no problem). Many airport charts don't say in what direction traffic flows on taxiways and such. I am aware that such charts do exist, but sometimes it can be a real pain finding them. If this tool can help me find a correct way from terminal to runway, then it could be worth the money. It is a pity that RC5 is so far from release. Can you give any info on what has to be done still? January 24, 201016 yr Well you could always try PFE. With full taxi instructions to/from the runway with your trusty co-pilot directing you along the way too :(
January 25, 201016 yr Well you could always try PFE. With full taxi instructions to/from the runway with your trusty co-pilot directing you along the way too :(Yes, that truly is a neat little gadget! If I am not mistaken, a first in FS!? I find myself shifting from RC towards PFE more an more as of late. As for the map, well, FS Flight Keeper has it all! That, in my opinion is one of those "must have" add-ons. Switch on the ACARS gauge and there's your map. With selectable amount of details, too. An awesome combination with PFE...Ok, commercials over, let's get back to the movie. :( Regards,Jure
January 25, 201016 yr You can use "Airport Chart Viewer" by Manuel Ambulo, available from the AVSIM library. Originally designed for FS2002, but there is a SP available for upgrade to FS2004. This utility is very handy, especially for default airports, for which the real world airport diagrams are mostly useless. For this utility is also a panel icon by Dave "Opa" Marshall available. January 26, 201016 yr I just bought this Airport GPS 2 days ago and I am still trying it out. I also bought a new copy of RD4 to use with it. I needed help finding my way around airports and I dont use charts, electronic or paper. I thought this would solve the program for me. I have not received the "new" RD4" as yet but I'll be able to try them togather ina few days. jerrycwo4
January 26, 201016 yr Hello Flyfisher, some good items added here and I will add one of my own. With my FS9 I use FScommander which shows airport layout with parking. http://www.fscommander.com/For viewing my charts I am especially pleased with FSwidgits and the EFB2004 series for FS9 or FSX. You can also view in real time your position over a Google map or a Sectional or TAC chart can be brought up. IMHO I think it works very well take a look at: http://fswidgets.com/shop/Some interesting free stuff also. I am just a novice user of FS9 and these products and not associated commercially with them.Chuck Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700KF CPU @ 4.90GHz 32.0 GB RAM Windows 11 Home NVIDIA RTX 3080Ti 12GB Multi monitors WD SN850 M2 2TB PSU 1000W. 360 AIO.cooling.

October 1, 201015 yr As Airport Chart Viewer does not behave itself and refuses to update the DB I had a question about DBS GPS. Does this display the taxiway names if one zooms in?ThanksShez Shez Ansari Windows 11; CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K; GPU: EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1080Ti 11GB; MB: Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 5; RAM: 16GB; HD: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB SSD, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD; Display: ASUS 4K 28", Asus UHD 26"
