May 24, 201016 yr A brand new ES plane released and 24 replies later it's ALL about window reflections?I agree - the fact that this is the first all new aircraft produced for fs9 in a long time and the fact that it is actually an excellent aircraft seems to have been lost in all the discussion about window reflections! I know we all have favourite elements that tend to heighten the realism for us, but don't let the lack of window reflections put you off! If you like general aviation flightsimming go out and buy this one - you won't regret it!Bill

(I know flight1 has this, and to be honest, there have been a couple purchases that i was not happy with, but I didnt dare ask for a refund as I really like the services they provide, I just bit the bullet. Moral of the story, Provide an honest and friendly service, and I wouldnt use the 30 day refund on fs software.)Thank you eaglesoft for another fs9 aircraft. May 24, 201016 yr Moderator Great bird, outstanding choice, and wonderful FDE (landing it is a joy). :(It is a joy to hand fly, that's for certain. Ed did a fantastic job on the FDE.Where's all the screenies? I thought someone would at least post a few in here.Probably too busy flying... :) Fr. May 24, 201016 yr Haha, quite common behaviour which is predictable. One or two users squawk about their favorite feature, others argue the counterpoint, thread goes OT and all the other features are ignored as folks loose sight of the big picture.Glad to see a mod participating so hopefully it won't go too far OT and disintigrate. :(I actually feel a bit of embarrassment with the ESDG guys. Quite frankly, IMO, dismissing an entire airplane because of an unrealistic reflection on a window is out of question. What about the visual model? The panel? The sounds? The FDE? Come on guys, seriously, get real. Ed OcampoStaff ReviewerAVSIM Online[email protected]Fly DC Jets

May 24, 201016 yr The OP asked for intial impressions, the first answer was direct and forthright. it didn't start off track in until the VC Glass issue was introduced, argued, then answered. We hope Jeremys request is honored and folks can get to the "meat of the matter" rather than arguing over features that are omitted.By the way, we are working on a Hotfix of a few minor issues that cropped up. We'll let you know soon on that as well. :( If not for the lack of those reflections, I'm sure there would be other "reasons" for dismissing it. :(You know the funny part is that the "dissing" crowd usually does not purchase, they just like to clog things up.We are not saying the "Glass" stuff was an intentional attempt to go OT so please do not consider our comments in any way negative toward the poster or his preferences. :(
May 25, 201016 yr i'm quite happy with it, reflections or no reflections (to put it bluntly im more interested in accurate FDE/systems and not really the visuals) ....like i said earlier iv'e yet to see reflections in your average frequently used GA aircraft in real life, and being a DA-42 driver myself this quickly became on of my favourite aircraft in my FS2004 hangar for my island hopping, and also, the G1000 cockpit/FADEC are all very well done as well (if you want to upgrade to the mindstar system be my guest but the garmins that come with the twin-star are quite ok as far as im concerned)...but on another note...i honestly think that whether glass is reflective or not should not take away from enjoying a really good simulation (some of the best out there don't have the reflective glass, neither in FS2004 nor FSX)...just my two cents.... Can you elaborate on the FDE comparison between real and sim? We and other DA42 pilots think that Ed Wilson did a bang up job on the FDE and tha Mindstar KAP140 AP is excellent.

May 25, 201016 yr "This is Eaglesoft! We don't do that here!"I hope not. If a fan posts a shot it is great. If a producer does it is advertising. So if you are Eaglesoft-I would certainly hope you dont do that here!I am glad you haven't not that I would expect you to.Now let's bring the fans (and not some shills that we see sometimes) on...I am looking forward with great anticipation to the fsx version...though the mindstar situation in my case is a mess... May 25, 201016 yr Great bird, outstanding choice, and wonderful FDE (landing it is a joy). :(I agree, the FDE is really amazing. Fun to fly!Unfortunately the KAP140 doesn't work for me. I tried everything, deinstall, reinstall, nothing. In 2D there's just a dark blank space, in 3D a dummy picture, not clickable.I had a similar problem with Eaglesoft's Cirrus a long time ago, making this plane unflyable as well. After fumbling around for hours I gave up and deinstalled the DA42. Fortunately it wasn't THAT expensive. Pity though... But I honestly enjoyed the flight dynamics! Cheers - Stefan Maus
