Carenado has left the building......

Featured Replies

Still I think Carenado should model for both platforms. They are great modellers who can model just as well/ easily in FS9 as FSX. (and could be even greater if they listened a bit more to their punters)They do not have to write and do not write any great systems depth ... that is simple gauges etc
How about modeling? FSX have more features when it comes to modeling. As fsx user, I want to benefit from all the features. I don't want to fly aircraft that designed to fs9 and then updated to fsxCarenado can't design two different aircraft for two different platforms. It's just more expenses to the company Regards, Shaheen

There's a short answer to that...tough! A developer isn't going to subsidise your "toys".
And that's the point I wanted to make to those who still faithfully believe there is a huge crowd of FS9ers and developers are just being senseless to stop developing for FS9.

Just a curious developer, but why are you guys sticking with FS9 so-long? Didn't FSX come out around 4 years ago now. So why not FSX?
Same, simple reasons for continuing to be married to the same great lady after 54 years-Change would be far too expensive and far too complicated!!Alex Reid

Because everything considered FS9 provides me with a better simming experience. That has always been the case since the day X came out.

For me, it is a simple matter of $$.  With other obligations, I simply can't upgrade to the type of machine - and all the matching addons - that would make FSX perform like FS9 does.  And compared with with what I USED to fly...FS9 is still perfectly fine with me.Ron

FS9 is starting to look really rough & FSX's poor performance has been over come with brute hardware power rather than slick engine programming. So why not FSX?

"Carenado has left the building..."...and went to X-Plane!Does this mean devs can make more money out of developing for XP than for FS9?? :( If that's the case, then FS9 is really dead!Wolfgang

All,WOW - true - stopping development on FS9 because of "limited resources"...Then comming out with stuff for X-Plane ??? Nothing against X-Plane but X-Plane is more popular than FS9 ???Yep - time to close up shop around here... C'mon - move along...:( Perplexed...Regards,Scott

I find it very difficult to believe that X-plane has a larger **addon-purchasing** user base than FS9. Most of the people (all 2 of them) that I know using X-plane would NEVER buy any kind of addon plane. They just do it for fun. And they have told me that. "Dude, like, yeah man...like so why do you like add all that expensive stuff to your flying game..." ......What an insult.

Well I know business goes where the business is-Is that really insulting?

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I'm pleased, actually. I think it was a good decision. I personally am of the opinion that FS9 goes nowhere and I have accepted long ago that more and more developers will quit FS9 and move on to either FSX or FSX and X-plane, as Carenado now does. Because let's face it: X-plane probably isn't even that bad. You see the screenshots posted of X-plane 10? Seems like a world of opportunity awaits with X-plane 10. I'll probably be buying it once it comes out, now that I see that more and more high-end - FS-like - addons are being developed for X-plane.Eric: How could they have lost a customer when that customer anyway has all FS9 stuff they made? Since there is nothing to buy from them anymore (you wouldn't have bought their FSX planes anyway), they cannot have lost you as a customer, right? I'm sorry for being nitpicky like this, but this kind of "drama" is something I can't get my head around, is all... I also don't mean to say that with a "condemning undertone", just in case you would think that... For I understand the feelings in this thread. I myself was awaiting the Caravan and I'm saddened I won't fly it in FS9.

Hello everyone. If anyone moves away from FS9, it's because they think, not because they know, since the developers have no real Marketing evaluation, that they can do better somewhere else. The only reason someone will go to Xplane is because it's something new and untested, but not necessarily because they will make more money. FS9, with some flight model mods, is still as good a platform as one needs, unless you are after eye candy. The reality is / will be, that the value provided by the product will dictate purchase / sales. In my opinion none of the after market products, presently, provide sufficient added value to justify purchasing any of them. If what you want is to use the any sim as a tool FS9 out of the box is as good as any other with any kind of addons. If you want to fantasize about you being a Real pilot seating in your computer chair, nothing of what I said will make any sense to you.Save your money, go to an airport and take an introductory flight and get the sensation of Real flying. No addon will ever be sufficient, or have any real added value to your sim experience after that, since nothing will ever come close to the real thing. TV
